Capítulo 1565: Chapter 1565: Save Me
The frustrations of the day must be avenged at night.
There’s nothing he can do; sometimes she’s just too naughty, making him furious. But when she puts on her childlike innocence, he cannot bring himself to scold her.
He comforts himself: She doesn’t understand, she’s playful, there’s no need to bicker with her over every little thing…
He, a grown man, getting upset over her childish antics, truly seems beneath him. But how does one quench the fire within? He can only seek psychological balance when falling asleep at night.
Gripping her soft waist tightly, listening to her soft gasps, he revels in his dominance over her body, and the feeling is truly maddening.
Gavin Graves lay on top of her, warm skin pressed against each other.
He kissed the corner of her mouth, like a boy new to love, whispering sentimental words: “Cherry, do you love me?”
“No,” she seemed lost in the afterglow, unable to return to her senses, her voice sweet and charming, “I hate you, Gavin Graves is such a nuisance… huh…”
Words must be accountable.
Everyone must pay the price for their words and actions…
…
After an intense night, both slept soundly. At five in the morning, the phone rang incessantly, but the people in bed showed no intention to answer.
Cherry was awakened, half-asleep she kicked Gavin with her small foot, “Answer the phone…”
Gavin, irritated, picked up the phone, wondering who was disturbing his sleep.
The caller ID showed that it was Ruth Frazer.
Gavin didn’t answer immediately; his sleepy brain was a bit dazed, suspicious: How did Ruth Frazer know his private number?
After a while, he vaguely remembered swapping numbers when he visited her home the last time.
However, why would she call at this hour? With her cautious approach, even urgent matters wouldn’t disturb someone’s rest at five in the morning.
Gavin answered the phone.
Before he could speak, crying came through from the other side: “Help me… Gavin… Quickly, come and save me…”
“Ruth?” Gavin sat up, his expression slightly tensed, “What happened? Where are you now?”
“I’m at home… He’s gone mad, completely mad… What should I do…”
The crying was intermittent, and the call abruptly ended.
Dialing back, no one answered.
By then, Cherry was awake too, looking at Gavin with wide eyes, “Is something wrong?”
“It seems Ruth Frazer is in trouble.” Gavin searched for a contact in his phone, made a call, and instructed the person on the other end, “Contact Aria Jackson at the police station, tell her the suspect is in trouble, she’ll know what it means.”
After a brief explanation, he hung up the phone and got up to dress.
“Where are you going?” Cherry sat on the bed, confused.
“I’m going over to Ruth Frazer’s place to check.”
“I want to go too!”
“You stay at home, I’m just going for a look; maybe it’s a trap.”
Cherry widened her eyes: “You know it’s a trap, and you’re still going?”
Gavin had already dressed, buttoning his shirt as he responded: “I’ve dealt with that thing before; going to check it out and telling them how to prevent it is better than Aria leading people in there unprepared, which could spell trouble.”
His fingers paused on the buttons, he was silent for a moment before adding quietly: “Aria mentioned that Moissanite and Ruth Frazer hired a lot of servants, but that day I only saw two or three; the rest might be in trouble. The witch’s curse is aimed at subduing the war elephant army. If that thing grows into a giant, the consequences could be disastrous.”
Gavin isn’t typically a man of justice, but when disaster strikes, and he narrowly escapes, a sense of mission naturally arises.
Should he call the police and say there’s a monster in that house?
He fears the president of Graves Group would instantly become a laughingstock in Clearwater City.
Better to take a look and act accordingly than to ignore it.
The phone rang again, this time it was Aria Jackson calling, as Gavin answered the phone and walked out of the room—
