Chapter 1631: Chapter 1631: Why did she go to the hospital?
Sylvan Cheney accompanied Jesse Rowan for a meal, and the wine Jesse Rowan ordered arrived promptly.
Sylvan Cheney and Jesse Rowan didn’t have much in common, and naturally the conversation drifted back to business.
Jesse Rowan swirled his wine glass, took a sip of his wine, and said, “Mr. Cheney, when do you have time? I’d like to invite you to play golf. I heard that you’re pretty good at it.”
“Not very interested. Mr. Rowan, you presumably have no shortage of friends in Landon, just pick a few of them.”
“What interests you, Mr. Cheney? I’m just curious to see your skills.”
“Work.”
“…” Jesse Rowan rubbed his forehead, “Pretend I didn’t ask.”
“This lotus seed duck is pretty good, better than any I’ve had before.” Jesse Rowan began to earnestly eat. He was quite skilled in the art of dining, drinking, and entertainment.
“The sauce is a secret recipe from the Cheney Family’s exclusive chef, so it tastes different from what you find elsewhere,” Sylvan Cheney said blandly.
“Then I suppose I’m lucky, huh? Tsk tsk.”
“You could say that,” Sylvan Cheney didn’t refute him. “This Spanish ham with melon, emerald fish soup, and vanilla cod are also specialties of this chef; you should try them.”
“Ah, not bad. They look very tempting,” Jesse Rowan tried them all.
Even though he didn’t really chat well with Sylvan Cheney, he was quite certain about Sylvan Cheney’s taste.
This man had a unique eye, whether it was in fashion or interior design. Take this restaurant for example, elegantly furnished without being ostentatious, exuding luxury rather than a nouveau riche vibe.
Jesse Rowan drank a few more sips of wine; the red wine made him slightly tipsy.
Suddenly, the phone resting on the table rang again.
Jesse Rowan frowned, glancing at the caller ID—it was Koi Garden again.
“Excuse me, I need to take a call.” This time, Jesse Rowan walked straight out of the restaurant, impatiently heading to the corridor.
“Make it quick,” Jesse Rowan shouted.
“Mr. Rowan, Miss Harry… she didn’t go to a friend’s house but rather went to the hospital,” reported the servant from Koi Garden.
Jesse Rowan instinctively squinted his eyes. Well, impressive—she knew how to lie now.
“Which hospital? Is it the one where Yacob Harry is staying?” Jesse Rowan’s tone carried a sarcastic edge and cold vibe.
“No, it’s the hospital closest to Koi Garden.”
“What did she go there for?”
“Well, um… Mr. Rowan, we accidentally lost track of Miss Harry. She went to the restroom and then disappeared.”
“Useless! You can’t even keep track of one person. What do I pay you for?”
“Yes, Mr. Rowan, we are still looking and will find Miss Harry.”
“Why did she go to the hospital? Was she feeling unwell?” Jesse Rowan pressed further.
“We don’t know; it’s just that Miss Harry didn’t look well and vomited her breakfast, leaving her untouched by water.”
Jesse Rowan wasn’t naïve; if it were just a minor issue, there was no reason to lie about attending a friend’s birthday.
Since she snuck out…
Jesse Rowan’s eyes flashed with a cold chill: “Which hospital.”
“Landon Central Hospital.”
Jesse Rowan hung up the phone and glanced out the window.
Outside, heavy rain continued to pour down relentlessly.
The sky carried a dim hue, a gloom that wouldn’t disperse, like a dense net hanging over the city.
Jesse Rowan kept his jaw tightly clenched.
He stood outside for quite a while before returning to the restaurant to grab his suit jacket. “Mr. Cheney, I need to step out for a moment.”
