Chapter 1630: Chapter 1630: What Trick Are You Playing
Jesse Rowan was quite eager to hear this sentence, and he immediately closed the file: "We’ll continue this afternoon."
"Sure, shall we dine at the Cheney Family restaurant for lunch today?" Sylvan Cheney’s tone remained that of a gentleman host, with little emotional fluctuation.
"Sounds good, I’ve heard the Cheney Family’s top restaurant has flavors comparable to a national banquet." Jesse Rowan smiled.
"Then let’s go, I can take you to try some of the Cheney Family’s specialty dishes."
Sylvan Cheney stood up, the trousers of his black suit revealing his straight and long legs. He buttoned his suit and led Jesse Rowan to the restaurant.
Jesse Rowan followed alongside Sylvan Cheney.
He had to admire this man; even in the face of adversity, there was no sign of panic on his face. He even took him to dine at the restaurant.
"Mr. Cheney, my family has a few bottles of vintage red wine from Château de Brondel in Fraance. They’re quite aged and have a very smooth taste. If you don’t mind, I can have my assistant fetch them." Jesse Rowan put aside his petty demeanor.
"I’d be delighted to try them," Sylvan Cheney replied.
The two walked side by side towards the elevator, followed by the executives from both the Cheney and Rowan Families.
Jesse Rowan immediately instructed his assistant to go retrieve the wine.
However, just as the elevator arrived, Jesse Rowan’s phone rang, a call from Koi Garden.
"Sorry, Mr. Cheney, I need to take this call." Jesse Rowan answered the phone.
"Mr. Rowan, Miss Harry wants to go out."
"In this heavy rain, where does she want to go?"
"She said a good friend is having a birthday. She wants to celebrate."
"Good friend?" Jesse Rowan narrowed his eyes, "Which good friend? What’s the name?"
"I-I didn’t dare to ask."
Jesse Rowan pondered for a moment, his eyes flashed with a scheming and cold light: "Don’t stop her, let her go, but send someone to follow."
"Okay, understood."
The person from Koi Garden hung up the phone, and a sinister gleam crossed Jesse Rowan’s eyes.
What trick does she want to play now?
A friend having a birthday?
The elevator stopped at the top floor of the Cheney Family, and Sylvan Cheney led Jesse Rowan to the restaurant.
The air was filled with the aroma of fragrances, and the ground was entirely covered with top-grade velvet carpets in a low-key yet luxurious champagne color.
Jesse Rowan looked around, indeed it was the most prosperous group in Landon, far exceeding the Rowan Family by many times.
"Does Mr. Cheney dine at the restaurant often?" Jesse Rowan asked casually.
"Not often."
"I also don’t really like eating at the company. No matter how comfortable a company might be, it’s never as cozy and free as home. At home, you can eat whatever you want and however you want, without anyone overseeing." He was, of course, not referring to his father’s home but his own villa.
He rarely went back to Jacob Rowan’s house since his stepmother was there, and it didn’t mean much for him to go.
However, with Qingming Festival approaching, Jacob Rowan would still call him back to pay respects to their ancestors.
Keeping up appearances is necessary, or else his spending on leisure would have no source.
Once he establishes the company well and has capital in hand, he won’t need to rely on Jacob Rowan’s expressions anymore. At that time, he’ll reclaim the Rowan Family entirely.
What Jacob Rowan owes him, he also plans to take back.
"Having someone oversee isn’t necessarily a bad thing," Sylvan Cheney stated calmly.
Jesse Rowan looked at Sylvan Cheney incredulously; having someone overseeing was a good thing? He couldn’t stand that.
He was naturally accustomed to being idle and laid-back.
Sylvan Cheney didn’t plan to discuss much with him and walked while instructing the waiter to prepare the tableware.
In his mind, indeed, having someone look after you wasn’t a bad thing.
For instance, Jasmine Yale would occasionally remind him to "drink less and smoke less."
