Chapter 97: A channel to the underworld

Chapter 97: A channel to the underworld

Aven’s POV

She shook her head sideways, confirming my thoughts that her mate was unaware of her activities.

Typical of Luna Ashley, she keeps flirting with Sir Kaelric, who doesn’t bat an eyelash at her. And now she is also caught up in a business her mate knows nothing about.

I clapped my hands as I stood up, "It’s either you prepare yourselves to face what’s ahead for you, traitors, or you keep on sending your weak fighters to fight me, thereby increasing the weight of your punishment."

"What made you think you can fight us all, Alpha pups?" One of the vampires in the chambers cut in, flashing his fangs.

"You can come closer; it makes it easier to join your partners on the floor," Damon blurted, equally standing up.

"This organization has been put up with for this long because my father let it happen, besides, it’s almost the center of both legal and illegal trades.

But I think you will either be replaced or the organization will be folded. But I guess the former is a better Idea," Tristan said, twirling the silver blade in between his index finger and middle finger.

The vampires charged at him, and he dodged, landing a stab of the silver blade on each of them, narrowing the council members to four: Beta Valtimore, Luna Ashley, and two other council members on black hoods.

The tension in the room heightened, and the two members who were seated stood up. They weren’t the usual vampires; they were like the vampire that stormed my father’s council room.

"Seems like you opened a channel to the underworld in the underground of your establishment, how unbelievable," I said, moving towards Valtimore.

The vampires tried charging towards me, but Damon was very quick to slice them with his blade, and they disappeared.

"Like I said before, you three are just three Alpha pups. How do you think I can easily be taken down?

This establishment has been run and handed over to me by my parents, too, and this has been the way it has been run. Some members of your council," he said, looking directly at me,

"Know fully well about this whole set-up. You think I’m the only problem you have got, wait till you find out the missing council member."

"The other council member," I said, pushing him down to his chair as Damon had already evacuated it, "Who is he?"

I pulled my knife close to his throat, steadying him on his chair with my other hand. Damon and Tristan got the hint and went towards Luna Ashley, who wanted to take the opportunity of my attention being diverted to Valtimore to escape.

They pushed her back to the seat, holding her in the same position as I held Valtimore.

"So bold of you to think that I would tell you anything about the other council member," he spat and burst out into a humorless laughter.

I imitated him. If he thought the predicament he was about to get into was funny, then it was extra funny to me.

"The only thing I have to tell you is that he is your nightmare," he finished with a spit to my face.

I wiped the saliva with the same hand that held the knife. How disgustingly arrogant can this fellow be?

"Since you have decided not to tell us anything about the council member who didn’t attend your VIP meeting, the one you called my nightmare, I might as well become your nightmare now," I said, fastening the blade to his neck.

"Maybe if I draw some of your blood and turn this council chamber into a torture room, you’ll start talking." I slid the blade along his thigh and made a shallow cut, careful to draw blood.

Dark stains spread across his trousers, and my pulse quickened at the sight.

"So...will you start talking, or shall I continue?" I asked, easing the blade toward the other leg.

He groaned out loudly, but his groans were just music to my ears. "Answer me quickly or I..." I made another cut along the other thigh, this time deeper.

"Fuck you," he cursed under his breath, "I wouldn’t tell you a word, you would have to kill me first."

"Of course, that will be very easy to do, but I’ll make you suffer before you meet your death," I said, sliding my blade back to the former cut, deepening the cut.

His blood dripped to the floor, and that made Luna Ashley whimper. She moved very uneasily in her chair, and I signaled Damon and Tristan to gag her and tie her to the chair.

"Do whatever you want, but you wouldn’t get your answer," Valtimore sneered, drawing my attention back to him.

I removed the blade from his lap and brought it to his eyes, "Well, that’s such a pity, because you are about to lose an eye, and one of your members sitting right next to me will tell me everything I need to know," I said, looking towards Ashley.

She whimpered, consumed by fear as she struggled with the strains put on her by Damon and Tristan.

"So you see, you are just going to suffer and die for nothing. What a waste."

He snapped his head towards Ashley, shaking his head from side to side. "No, don’t do it, it will be a waste of what we have built for some years now."

I pulled his head back to me and put the knife through his right eye.

He groaned loudly. I moved towards the left eye, not letting him catch his breath.

"No, No, No," he screamed at the top of his voice.

"Yes, yes, yes, now don’t make much noise, it will be over soon," I said, stabbing his left eye.

I walked towards Ashley, and she shivered and whimpered, shaking her head from side to side and struggling with the seat where she was restrained.

I pulled out the gag from her mouth. "Now, spill or your fate will be much worse than his."

"He is a wolf, you well know, he is in your..."

My phone rang, and it was my father speaking.

Shh," I said, picking up the call.

"Dad, we have an interesting subject right here. Send your guards to the Den of Coins, specifically to the dungeon. There’s a gift waiting there for you. She has an interesting confession to make. We will talk later when I’m in a more comfortable place."

I put off the call and then turned towards Valtimore, slashing his throat and then towards Ashley, who looked at me like she just saw a ghost.

"You will finish your confession in my father’s council chamber. For now, I have to head back to the academy; tomorrow is another school day."
