Chapter 450: A Casual Walk through an Underground Ravine?

Chapter 450: A Casual Walk through an Underground Ravine?

Walking past the corpses of the Cliff God’s subjects, she took a peek inside their homes, which were medium-sized holes in the ravine’s walls.

They were decently furnished, even comfy.

She continued moving and also continued to find corpses of kobolds strewn everywhere she went.

Every single kobold she found was dead.

No matter if it was an adult or a child, they were all slaughtered and slumped against some cold wall.

’The Captain really went on a spree, huh...?’ Lillian thought, holding her chin as she continued to look around, wondering what she could loot.

She checked out their water supplies, their food storage, and even their armoury, which seemed to be mostly unused.

The Captain must’ve killed them all before they could reach for their weapons, slaughtering the already equipped ones first.

’It’s kind of obvious considering there are countless net slashes around the place.’ Lillian held a hand to the wall and traced her fingers over the deep slash marks.

She continued moving forward.

’This is only just half of their settlement...’

Since they worshipped the Cliff God, they would obviously find it more appropriate to build their main settlement nearby or on a cliff close to the temple.

As they continued to make their way down the ravine, which was around 100 metres deep, she couldn’t help but notice movements in the corners of her eyes.

The Jungle Lord had noticed them as well.

Soon enough, when they reached the mid-way point down, she sighed and shrugged, commenting on the kobolds around them:

"Yep, all of these guys are dead... The Captain sure did a number on them, huh." Lillian paused and looked down at the petite Wendigo, "What do you think?"

The Jungle Lord, who was surveying their entire location, looked towards Lillian and tilted its head slightly, causing her to giggle.

"Well, maybe he didn’t kill everything within this ravine, that’s for sure."

Turning around, Lillian looked towards the right wall of the ravine above her and found a rather large draconic lizard climbing it.

With its head craning down towards her, Lillian managed to get a good look at the oversized lizard.

It had a bulky body with basalt-black scales that were dark enough to seemingly "drink" the darkness around it.

It had an angular head with a throat that glowed and pulsated a subtle orange every few seconds like a frog, and had black eyes that stared down at her with a predatory gaze.

Its forelimbs were recurved and shovel-like, while its talons were shaped like thick chisels, which hooked onto the wall it was climbing.

And lastly, the lizard had a thick tail with a thick and solid club at the end of it—a club similar to that of an ankylosaurus.

It was the Umbralight Drake, the creature she was looking for.

’Once the player were to kill every kobold and linger in this area for too long, the Drake would arrive due to the smell of blood.’

This also meant that the deaths of these kobolds were still fresh, considering they would’ve all been devoured if it had arrived here earlier.

Lillian snapped her fingers and caused her earring to glow a blue light as two plasmatic heads emerged from her back, which rapidly grew in size.

Although it may be considered overkill, Lillian didn’t see any point in dawdling around with it if she could kill it instantly.

’Time is of the essence.’

Before the wooden bridge underneath them could entirely blacken or be set on fire from the heat radiating off from the plasmatic heads, Lillian shot out her hand and commanded the two heads to fly towards the lizard.

As she watched the heads rapidly arrive before the Drake, she smiled.

But then...

Crackle...!

’What the—!?’

Lillian watched as a beam of flames suddenly pierced through the plasmatic heads with ease, causing them to disperse before shooting towards her with immense speed.

Lillian and the Jungle Lord immediately leapt away to different stone platforms as they watched the fire beam pierce through and torch the entire bridge, destroying it.

The girl grimaced as she saw that, unconsciously holding a hand to her earring as she thought with realisation:

’The heads are fragile!’

Although she wasn’t entirely sure if it was because of the strength of the Drake’s fire breath, the fact that the two heads were taken care of in the blink of an eye was definitely a concern.

If Lillian recalled correctly... She did remember she lost control of them after she made them crash into each other during her battle with the Jungle Lord...

While Lillian was pondering, the Umbralight Drake had already decided on its next follow-up attack.

It snapped its mouth shut, ignoring the lines of smoke that escaped its large maw as it leapt off the wall.

As soon as it did that, it tucked its body into a ball and began to roll rapidly as it descended towards Lillian.

The girl watched as Drake’s club tail swung through the air like a heavy warhammer. It was going to crush her with it!

She immediately flashed her hand out and conjured a ball of water in the centre of her palm, which exploded outwards into a torrent of water.

Fwooosh!

The beam of water crashed into the Drake and caused its spinning to slow down dramatically. It was even beginning to get pushed back into the air.

Lillian, having managed to counter Drake’s follow-up attack, raised her other hand and summoned the Jungle Lord’s battle axe.

She clutched it in her hand and felt her vessels bulge at the weight of it. Fortunately, her body was now tempered for these kinds of things.

Lillian threw the axe towards the Jungle Lord, who caught it with ease and leapt into the air—

BUM.

—Using the vines on its body as a booster.

The Jungle Lord would then raise his axe over his head before delivering a mighty strike on the Drake, who had begun to spin in the air.

Swish!

The club of the Umbralight Drake swung through the air and narrowly approached the side of the Jungle Lord’s vine body.

Unfortunately...

It was just a bit too slow.

The Jungle Lord severed the Drake’s tail before leveraging itself on top of the Lizard and dodging the still-in-motion club, which flew away due to momentum.

The Drake roared out in pain as the orange light within its throat pulsated brightly.

It would then open its maw and direct the inside of its mouth towards the Jungle Lord, who watched as the inside of the Drake’s throat glowed dangerously orange.

Before it could fire yet another flame breath, Lillian leapt towards the sky, creating solid platforms of water for her to make use of.

In mere moments, she quickly arrived before the Drake and summoned two spears of water, which she used to stab into both eyes of the oversized lizard.

As blood spilt out from its eyes, so did water as she began to rapidly flood its system, cooling its body down at a dramatic rate.

While also—

[You have slain a Dire Gnarl, Umbralight Drake]

—Killing it.

Lillian quickly transformed her body into water as she, the corpse of the Drake, and the Jungle Lord plummeted down the deep ravine, crashing through several wooden bridges and reaching the bottom.

THUD!
