Chapter 211: She Could Finally "Die"
Hilla looked at the stranger downstairs and tried to force a smile.
She was not a fan of any star, but she must have seen this man’s face before. He must be a famous star to cooperate with Carlie.
Hilla looked down and saw his vertex. He had neat short hair and high cheekbones.
Although she only saw a profile, she could tell he was a handsome man.
He looked gentlemanlike and elegant in a white robe embroidered with patterns, with an ornament hanging down his waist. Walking amongst those supporting roles, he was indeed distinguished.
But Hilla was not in a mood to smile.
He was not Bruce, why should she smile?
The director shouted anxiously, "Smile, smile!"
Hilla didn’t seem to hear him and just stared at the actor.
Someone besides Hilla suddenly shouted to the actor, "Young man, come and have fun with us!"
At this sound, the actor halted and looked up. His gaze happened to fall on Hilla.
The actor was stunned, and so was Hilla. Suddenly, she felt a little shy.
Hilla immediately lowered her head and blushed. She pursed and leaned back to dodge to glaze.
The man was so handsome! No wonder he could be an actor. He was much more handsome than on TV.
When their eyes met, she was even a little shy. But she already had a husband. She would never cheat on Bruce. Otherwise, she could not bear Bruce’s anger.
Hilla was scared by her own thought. Her fantasy about the actor was soon dispelled.
She thought to herself, "Beauty was but a phantom."
"Okay, let’s do the next scene."
The director shouted excitedly. He pointed to the film and said to the deputy director, "It’s a good scene. She looks even more pretty than if she smiles."
The bow of her head perfectly showed her shyness. The curve of her lips had not yet bloomed into a smile but it only made her more alluring.
The deputy director couldn’t help but quoted, "The beauty in silk was delicate as a white orchid; she turned and smiled at me with stars twinkling in her eyes."
The director smiled. That was what he meant. He added, "I could only doubt whether I have met a nymph."
"This is a good shot!"
It was better than what he had expected. This inexperienced girl gave him a surprise.
Before Hilla could come back to her senses, she was pressed back to her previous seat.
This time, she only had to sit there and look sad.
It was to take some close shots.
However, when the camera approached her, she looked down and blushed again.
The natural shyness could not be learned in any classes. After all, make-believe could never be as moving as genuine emotions.
However, the director was getting more excited. He clapped his hands and said directly, "Alright, let’s continue. Let’s finish all the scenes of Viola today!"
Hilla was stunned and thought, "Shouldn’t they ask for my opinion first?" She didn’t want to continue at all!
At first, they only asked Hilla to try on the costume. Then they asked her to film a scene. And now the director said they should finish all the scenes today.
Hilla felt worse. She just wanted to go home. But no one understood.
As a designer, she really had little interest in acting.
"Ms. Holt, you have done an excellent job. I was amazed. You looked so professional."
As the crew was preparing for the next scene, Carlie looked at Hilla and smiled.
Her smile was friendly. Hilla would not be an actress, so Carlie didn’t see her as an opponent. She congratulated Hilla sincerely.
Hilla was a little embarrassed. Was she acting just now? That was the manifestation of her true feelings.
She was really bitter in her heart. Besides, every woman would be shy if a good-looking man suddenly glanced at her.
Wasn’t that a normal reaction?
Hilla did not have a crush on the actor. She was just surprised by his appearance. In terms of maturity, he was inferior to Bruce. But as a young actor, he was very attractive.
"I, I don’t know how to act at all. It was just a coincidence."
Of course, it was a coincidence. All the time she had been wishing that others would
ignore her.
It would be best if they treat her as invisible.
"You are too modest. The director said he wants to add two more scenes for you just now."
Hearing this, Hilla hurriedly waved her hands and said, "No, never! I’m flattered. But I think opportunities should be left to those who really work hard in this drama."
Indolent and unwilling as she was, she should not waste the limited resources.
Carlie’s expression softened when she saw Hilla’s frightened face, "There are two more scenes. It will be finished soon. I didn’t lie to you, right? It will be over in half a day."
Hilla pursed awkwardly and thought, "Only if the coincident repeats itself!"
It was in the next scene that Hilla learned that Viola was originally a daughter of a noble family. But her family died in the wars and she ended up being a prostitute.
It was a tremendous fall in her life.
But she was only one of many beauties in that age who fell into a miserable fate.
Viola fell in love with the male lead at first sight, who was ostensibly a playboy but a revolutionary in fact. Viola voluntarily collected intelligence for the male lead and help to conceal his true identity.
In the end, she was shot by the enemy in order to cover the hero. Hilla thought, "What a cliché! And my role is a downright nobody."
Fortunately, she didn’t have many scenes, because she was just one of many female admirers of the hero. She was the most beautiful and the shortest-lived one.
Hilla was very willing to accept the death of her character. She couldn’t wait to "die".
As expected, the final scene came.
To cover up the identity of the male lead, Viola chose to give up her life.
The second scene was in her bedroom. The enemies came to investigate the assassin. The hero was naked and slept with her under thick quilts.
In order to be realistic, Hilla only wore underwear and a piece of transparent gauze.
She had tried her best to wrap herself in the quilt, but the director was dissatisfied and said, "Show your shoulders."
Hilla thought, "I want to show a sword and kill all these men!"
...
Hilla’s gauze dress was pulled down a little by the staff member. Carlie, who had been with her, immediately comforted her at the sight of her frowning, "Take it easy. Don’t worry. Stanley won’t take advantage of you."
Stanley was the hero of this drama, the exquisite handsome boy that she had just seen downstairs.
After being baptized by an old man like Bruce, she had no interest in young men.
She was not just worried about being taken advantage of. What was more, she felt she almost went naked. A sense of shame made her shrink. Not only her face but even her body was covered in a layer of light pink.
She swore that she wouldn’t be an actress in the future!
This drama could not be seen by Bruce. Otherwise, it would be terrifying.
The director adjusted the lens and said, "Viola is in a good mood. The male lead gets on her."
Hilla was dumbfounded.
She was in a bad mood right now, especially when she heard the last sentence.
She almost went crazy.
When she saw the young man coming up to her half-naked, Hilla instantly widened her eyes and sat up.
Because of her sudden and wild movements, her forehead hit the man right on the nose, causing him to lean backward.
Hilla was also frightened and looked at the scene in surprise. The red liquid flowed out from the fingers of the man’s hands that covered his face.
"It’s bleeding!"
The people around exclaimed. This was really an unexpected drama. A female walk-on hit her boyfriend into bleeding. What a surprise! Nobody dared to do this but Hilla.
Hilla looked at the hero who was surrounded by people serving him water and tissue as she apologized. "Are, are you alright?"
However, her voice was drowned out by the chaotic cries of alarm. Everyone’s attention was focused on the noble male lead who had a nosebleed. Hilla was like a pitiful woman who had been abandoned in the corner.
She didn’t mean it!
God, she already said that she couldn’t act, why would things still be difficult for her?
After a while, everything finally quieted down because the hero quickly stopped bleeding. Luckily, his blood cells were obedient.
But his nose was still a little red. After the makeup artist applied some foundation, nothing could be seen anymore.
The director walked up to Hilla with an embarrassed look. Then, he took a deep breath and said patiently, "Miss, just lie down. We are acting. We won’t do anything to you."
Hilla was speechless because she was afraid she would do something to the man. If she couldn’t help it, she might break his arms and legs. That would be terrible. "Bear with it. If it doesn’t work, just close your eyes and don’t look up."
Hearing someone from the side, Hilla gritted her teeth, "Since there’re covers over me, can I put on more clothes? You can’t take photos anyway."
She could still accept it when she needed to be snapped a shot of her bare shoulder when she was close with the hero. The only thing was that she wore too little inside, so she was nervous.
The director frowned. "That can’t work. The covers will be taken off later!" Hilla was desperate because she couldn’t bear it anymore.
"Why don’t you put a towel around your chest when you’re covered? You can take it away when you need to throw back the covers."
Although it would be a bit more troublesome to shot separately, Hilla’s reluctant agreement was worthwhile.
Since the discussion had been made, Hilla’s chest was wrapped in a thick bath towel. When the hero pressed down, he avoided touching her and kept a gap between them.
He had no choice since he was afraid of being beaten again!
Hilla blushed and felt the hero’s breath on her face. Unlike Bruce, this man brought her a strange feeling, which left her in a fluster again.
What should she do? She really couldn’t be with a strange man and under the covers.
The man approached her neck and pretended to kiss her. This burning breath made her feel even more ashamed. Hilla thought, "It was killing to be an actress!"
Following the director’s "action", Hilla suddenly heard the man’s husky voice in her ear. "What’s your name?"
Stanley’s voice was faint to the degree that only she could hear it. Therefore, Hilla was sure this was not a line and immediately froze, her body stiffened.
"You smell so good!"
Here again, not a line. Hilla tightened her fists under the covers and was on the brink of doing anything rash at any moment.
Soon, the door was kicked open with a bang, and the male lead got up to speak to those people. Hilla hugged the covers and curled up on the bed, frightened.
The bath towel on her body had been pulled away, revealing her smooth and delicate bare back.
When the male lead finished speaking his lines, the director said "cut" and walked to Hilla. "In the end, this frightened and stubborn expression is very good. Viola should be like this."
Hilla thought, "Are you kidding me? I was indeed frightened by what the male lead just said, okay?"
She was not stubborn, but angry because she wanted to beat him.
If it wasn’t for the act, that handsome face would have been bruised.
Hilla quickly changed her clothes with an unhappy look. The director told her that she had another scene, and Hilla was about to go berserk. When the director said this was the last one, and she was going to die to protect the male lead, Hilla was excited.
She could finally "die"!
The director said as he looked at her, "In fact, this character can be more vivid, and two more scenes can also..."
"No need, Director. I’m only free today. I’m afraid I can’t come out to film recently. The studio has received a lot of orders."
"I see!" What a pity, he at first intended to incidentally make this girl popular. In that way, she might change her mind and be a star.
However, Hilla resisted acting again, not even a single shot.
The last scene of filming, where Hilla would "die", didn’t go smoothly. It was easy for people to live, and difficult to "die".
The director said with awkwardness, "Your death is too ugly."
Hilla thought, "Are you blind? You praised me for being a beauty before, and everyone in River City thinks I’m good-looking."
"Let’s do it again. When you die, be more natural. Think about the sad things. You love the male lead deeply, and you can’t be with him even if you die for him. How painful this feeling is, and you are sacrificing for the person you love, so you feel a little gratified."
It meant she had to suffer and be happy at the same time.
He wanted her to cry and laugh together!
In the first two rounds, she was lucky, but this time, acting skills were crucial. Looking at the male lead who she wanted to hit, Hilla felt no pain and was merry at the imagination of breaking his arms and legs.
"No, this expression is wrong. Why are you so ferocious? You should look at the male lead with love, reluctance, and gratification. How can you have the look of wanting to kill him?"
Hilla’s eyes mirrored her mind. She indeed wanted to kill him!
