Chapter 239: Chapter 239: Slap
Ember felt a ringing in her ears.
She knew why her parents were silent, even though Brenda was trying to strip their dignity. She even understood that Jay was pretty helpless and today’s events weren’t his fault.
But the question was... was it still worth it? If they go by the plan she and Jay had made last night... then her parents will be insulted even more... worse... they will be disappointed.
Jay had proposed that they could run away for a year or so to some other base and stay there till Jay’s parents gave up the matter completely, or they could say that Ember was pregnant, and Jay would have to take the responsibility.
Regardless of the plan, her family will endure humiliation. Again and again by Jay’s parents.
She can endure everything... everything except her parents being insulted.
Suddenly, an urge to end everything rose in Ember’s mind.
’Jay will forget me eventually, but if I marry him... my family will be harassed by his parents. Worse... my own future children will be troubled. I can’t just foolishly think about myself... This relationship... has to end.’
"I will end everything." Ember’s forced calm voice echoed in the room, making everyone freeze.
Brenda’s heart pounded with delight, and a huge grin appeared on her face. "Oh, Ember! You are still the smartest in your family..."
"Ember!" Helena’s calm elegance shattered the moment she heard Ember’s words. She knew just how much Jay meant to Ember.
It was to the point that when they objected to Ember’s relationship with Jay, she left all her riches and almost survived on bread every single day.
Helena knew that Ember was speaking on impulse, and when she came back to her senses, she would regret her words.
"No, Mom." Ember gave a weak smile. Indeed, she was regretting her words. However, she didn’t regret ending things... instead, she regretted not informing Jay first.
"Let me handle this." She stated, her voice trembling as she sucked in a deep breath.
Turning toward Brenda, who was eyeing Ember with anticipation, she gritted her teeth and smirked darkly.
In an instant, Felix, Kael, Helena, and Victor fell silent, and a thought echoed in their minds.
’Everything is over... this time Brenda will definitely cry for mercy.’
Sure enough, the next second, Ember marched up to Brenda and slapped her. It was sharp and mercilessly kind. Filled with the resentment and hatred Ember was harboring in her heart.
Thud!
The impact was so strong that Brenda fell straight on the ground, while her head crashed straight into the sofa, making her groan.
"Ahh!"
The agonizing shriek echoed like a banshee’s howling, making the Nightbane cover their ears, while Ember, with a detached expression, stood.
"You! You... how can you slap me! Just you wait! I will..."
"What? Cry to your son? Go ahead and do it. You old hag, what did you take me for, huh? My parents remained silent to save the relationship and give you face, but you... You don’t want the face." Ember’s eyes narrowed as she crouched and stared at Brenda.
"My parents’ faces are thick? No... If there is anything that is thick, then it’s your brain. Thick brain lacking any basic IQ." Ember taunted darkly, her eyes laced with mockery.

Brenda: (○□○)
Felix pursed his lips and swallowed his own lips to stop himself from laughing. Yet he screamed in his heart,
’God! My sister looks smartest when she is furious! Her IQ is activated when she is furious! Ah! So satisfying. I want to record everything. I wonder if Big Brother would stop me.’
He took out his phone and started to record, and when he saw that Kael didn’t stop him, he even boldly adjusted the angle and recorded everything with interest.
"You bitch! Why are you insulting me? Insult your family for not having enough food to marry you off..."
"No. If I want to insult someone, it would be myself. I must have washed my eyes with gutter water to ever think that you and your daughter were good people." Ember interrupted while her hand again reached toward Brenda, making her flinch.
"You... you, what are you doing?" Brenda backed away in fear.
"Hm... me? I was going to tear open your skull and see if your brain is the size of a neutron or an atom... or is it in your knees?" Ember chuckled.
She wasn’t any meek girl; on the contrary, she was a bit tomboyish. She believed in violence more than God itself.
The constant pressure of the apocalypse and the sudden change in Brenda and Ophelia had made her stunned. And somewhere she wanted to give them a chance; hence, she remained silent.
Now... she only thinks that she acted too naively.
If they aren’t concerned about the past relationship, why should she?
She even beat up her second brother over chocolate. Then... Jay’s family was a stranger, and they had crossed her bottom line. If she didn’t teach them a good lesson... it would be a stain on her reputation.
Slap! Slap!
Ember slapped both sides of Brenda’s face mercilessly.
"Why should I insult my parents, huh? They raised me like a princess. And now, just because of the situation, they couldn’t provide enough, so I should throw a tantrum? What a stupid idea!"
Slap!
The slap session continued until Brenda’s face resembled that of a pig, and she lost her strength before collapsing on the ground.
Ember wiped her hand on Brenda’s clothes. As Ember slapped Brenda’s face, the sweat from Brenda transferred onto Ember’s hand, making her feel disgusted.
However, she didn’t know when she would have such a chance and hence continued.
Now... she only finds her hand dirty.
After wiping her hand clean, she turned toward her parents and said calmly,
"Throw her out. Such kind of trash looks better outside than in our home."
Helena raised her hand to stop others and looked at Ember with pity in her eyes.
"Baby, are you sure? Jay might be furious with you if..."
