Chapter 242: Chapter 242: Family Reunion-1
"Did you give her 500 grams of rice?" Silas asked in confusion. From his knowledge, he knew how merciless she could be. How can she still let Ophelia have the bag of rice knowing Ophelia insulted her family?
"Well... that bag was filled with small stones." Ivy’s languid voice cut through the air, while her heart was pounding with excitement. Soon she reached the place where Nightbanes lived and saw an unconscious woman lying just far away from the door.
Seeing the faint bruises on her face, Ivy’s heart skipped a beat.
She wondered if the woman was her mother and if someone had attacked her. However, her eyes fell on the neat clothes, no patches.
Even though she was unconscious, the shrewdness in her heart was still crystal clear on her face.
’No... this can’t be my mother, and why is she lying just outside the house, but no one from the Nightbane family helped her? Did the Nightbane family have some kind of grudge against this woman?’
The more Ivy thought, the more she felt that her theory was correct. Meanwhile, Silas stared at the woman lying unconscious on the ground and at Ivy waiting for her verdict.
"Let’s go inside first." Ivy’s calm voice broke Silas’s dilemma. Once Ivy parked the scooty, she was about to enter when a man with red hair emerged from the room and yelled,
"Oh? So the Sutton family is here? Take away your old hag..." Midway through the sentence, the red-haired man froze, while Ivy’s eyes turned moist.
This voice... the same deep voice filled with rebellion and arrogance... how can she forget it?
Her second brother! He was her second brother, Felix!
The scene in front of her turned blurry, and Ivy desperately tried to clear it away by blinking, but it kept on becoming blurry. It was only then that she realized... she was crying.
The cold, wet tears grazed her cheeks, while her heart raced, sharp and hurried.
’Go and hug him! You finally know what he looks like... just go and hug him.’
The young man with red hair shimmering under the sun and beads of sweat glistening due to sunlight stared at Ivy with his jaw dropped. He had sun-kissed skin, a proof of his constant adventure under the sun.
His sharp facial features gave him masculine charm, while the arrogance on his face made him dangerous yet attractive at the same time.
His almond-shaped eyes resembled Ivy’s just faintly, but apart from that? He looked completely different from Ivy.
Yet... at that moment, both the siblings felt a strange bond.
"Yes?" Felix called out in a tentative voice. Even he didn’t notice that his voice had been lowered by a notch in the fear of scaring Ivy. Seeing her cry made his heart ache terribly, and he even wanted to hug her and comfort her.
’Why do I feel so protective about her? And wait... isn’t she the woman I saw at the entrance of Moonjewel base? What was she doing here?’
Many questions lingered in his mind, but the answer to them remained with Ivy.
Ivy’s voice cracked just a little. "Felix?"
"You know me?" For some reason, Felix’s heart was filled with joy after that discovery.
"Hm." Ivy barely choked back the sob bubbling in her throat, while Silas patted her back as if to give her strength.
Inhaling a deep breath, Ivy grinned. "I am Ivy... I got to know from powers that the Nightbane family was my real family."
Felix froze. His heart pounded loudly against his chest, and blinked repeatedly before asking in a trembling voice filled with disbelief,
"You... you are my sister?"
Ivy almost cried hearing the familiar voice calling her sister. The same voice echoed in her mind, just this time it was overflowing with gentleness.
"Sister, don’t worry! With your brother around no zombies will be near you!"
"Sister, see... I have scavenged some rice for you! Today the entire family can have delicious food."
"Sister, hold on tight; we are running away! Those guys have found us again."
The memories, coupled with Felix’s reaction, made the last defense barrier around her heart break, and the next second the sound of her sobs echoed in the empty silence.
It was like a kitten’s mewl, but at the same time it was heartache-inducing.
Silas and Felix both were dumbfounded, but Silas reacted quickly and hugged Ivy, patting her back in a soothing manner.
"There! There! Why are you crying? Haven’t we reached here already? You only need to call out to them, and they will appear! What impression will they have when they see you crying on your first meet?"
Those words worked like magic, because the next second tears streaming down Ivy’s face stopped.
Indeed, she wanted to create an excellent impression on the Nightbane family.
Felix, on the other hand, frowned when he saw the scene and, without hesitation, walked to Silas. While Silas was 3 inches taller than him, Felix’s intimidating aura was a bit pressurizing.
"Leave her." He commanded, his eyes laced with warning.
From the moment the possibility that Ivy was his sister appeared, his protective instincts flared up.
Silas pursed his lips and almost had the urge to shout that he was her husband; however, he held back.
Slowly he let go of Ivy.
And the next second, Felix took Ivy’s hand almost gently, as if he were touching a fragile doll. "Are you telling the truth?"
"Hm." Ivy nodded, her eyes turned red, while her pale face was flushed with redness. The long pink hair was cascading to her waist, making her look ethereal and unreal.
Felix almost jumped on the spot.
The faint fragrance of mint lingering around Ivy made him remember how he was reeking of sweat and dust, and he instantly created distance between them.
"Ugh... that... let’s go inside... Um... Mom... Dad... they would be thrilled. And yes, you also have an eldest brother named Kael and an eldest sister named Ember. Mom’s name is Helena, while Dad’s name is Victor..."
