Chapter 236: Truth About Real Family

Chapter 236: Chapter 236: Truth About Real Family

He stared at Ivy’s pink hair in disbelief, his heart pounding while a single thought clouded his mind.

’Sh*t! Sh*t! She has pink hair! Is she the woman they were looking for? Should I reach out to them?’

Meanwhile, Ivy’s eyes widened; her heart was beating with anticipation so fast that she wanted to rush straight to Fortis’ base.

Her parents... they were looking for her! Just like her in a past life!

So when they said that they were looking for her for 26 years... they weren’t lying.

The atmosphere turned still, while the only sound that could be heard was the sound of the fan.

Tears pricked at the corners of her eyes. Feeling the lump in her throat, Ivy closed her eyes and inhaled a deep breath.

"Miss... if you don’t mind... can you tell me about your age?" Jordan asked tentatively, and though he tried his best, the greed hidden within it was still exposed.

All the emotions in Ivy’s heart vanished within a second. Her eyes shot open, and she stared at Jordan with coldness.

"Don’t you dare demand anything extra from them!"

Jordan froze, he waved his hand, and his hand was trembling in fear as he made a vow, "I swear! I swear I won’t! Please don’t be angry, Miss!"

"I will give an extra 1000 kg of rice. As for their reward... forget it!" Ivy pointed her finger at Jordan; her voice was laced with warning.

"Yes... yes! I swear!" Jordan nodded immediately, yet his heart was pulsing with raw excitement.

"Continue." Ivy motioned him, and Jordan, like a dog, gave a flattering smile,

"Yes! Yes! So I reached out to them just a week ago. I had found a woman with pink hair, and thought it was the girl they were searching for. A guy named Felix arrived and checked the girl... only the girl’s age didn’t match, so he left. Before leaving, he didn’t forget to leave his address and base name. Their precise address is this..." With that, Jordan took out a paper and passed it to Ivy.

Ba-dum! Ba-dum!

Ivy’s heart beat spiked as she took the paper. Tracing the impatient letter with her index finger, Ivy almost laughed.

Her second brother’s handwriting was just like his personality... impatient... and cheerful.

Seeing Ivy admiring someone else’s paper with so much gentleness, Silas felt sourness in his heart, but when he thought about the theory in his heart, the sourness vanished.

’I should trust Ivy! She will tell me everything whenever she feels comfortable!’

The thought made his rage vanish into thin air.

Ivy put away the paper and nodded. "You will receive your reward once I confirm everything."

With that, she stood up and walked toward her room with a spring in her step.

Ronak escorted Jordan out of the house, while Silas eagerly followed behind her.

Once inside the room, Silas walked up to Ivy and hugged her from behind.

"Are you thrilled?"

"Hm... a lot!" Ivy murmured, her eyes not leaving the paper.

"Is there anything that you would like to talk about?" Silas gently probed, and Ivy paused.

The atmosphere turned still before Ivy slowly turned toward Silas with a grim expression.

"Indeed. It’s about the Nightbane family."

Silas looked at Ivy with an attentive gaze, and Ivy began,

"You know how the Ravencroft family used to beat and torture me?"

A layer of frost seemed to have settled in Silas’s eyes, yet he maintained his gentle persona and nodded.

"I do. What about them?"

"Well, apparently they did so because... I wasn’t their real daughter." Ivy’s face was devoid of any emotions, like the hollowness in her eyes.

In her previous life, when she got to know the truth, she was devastated. She lost too much because of the Ravencroft family, and in the end... they didn’t even turn out to be her real family!

She even built a wall around her cold heart and refused to let anyone in.

Yet slowly and steadily, her real family melted the cold walls. They taught her to love... to live, and to let go.

For Ivy, after Silas’s death, it was the first time she laughed and felt as if she was at home.

And Ivy was able to live even with the surging hatred in her heart.

"What?" Silas felt stunned. It took him a while to recover before he inhaled deeply and hugged Ivy.

"I am sorry, baby."

"Huh?" Ivy froze, her heart pounding loudly against her chest, as confusion gripped her mind.

"If I had sensed the anomaly about the Ravencroft’s behavior... you wouldn’t have to suffer so much..." Guilt and rage clouded Silas’s mind, and he could hardly contain the self-loathing.

He claimed to love Ivy the most, so why didn’t he sense that something was amiss with the Ravencroft family?

"What are you saying?" Ivy pursed her lips, her warm hand wrapped around Silas, and she murmured in a sweet voice,

"You have done enough for me. It was my own stupidity, and I have no one but myself to blame."

Silas shook his head forcefully, and began to speak, but Ivy covered his warm lips with her soft hand and stated,

"No need to worry so much. I have already found my real family; they are none other than the Nightbane family."

Silas had been prepared for this impact and grinned, "Congratulations!"

But soon the confident grin on his face vanished, replaced by a look of worry and nervousness.

"Sh*t, I haven’t prepared any meeting gift! I should have brought half of my supplies as dowries. No... I can borrow from Ronak. What should I wear? Is there any special preference that they have? Oh... I should investigate them now..."

Seeing him spiralling, Ivy chuckled and stopped him by holding his arms.

"Stop! Why are you so nervous?"

"They are your parents, Ivy, and you love them. If I don’t create a good impression on them, then..."

"Then also I will stay with you!" Ivy interrupted with certainty.
