Chapter 1569: Chapter 1569: Rejection
“Ruth, you’re drunk.” Gavin said flatly, gently pushing her arm away.
Ruth Frazer’s expression grew more confused, murmuring, “Am I drunk…”
“Go rest early.” Gavin said calmly, turning to go back to his room.
Ruth grabbed his hand from behind.
Her body was weak, her forehead lightly pressed against Gavin’s shoulder and back, “Don’t go… Even if just for one night, stay with me…”
She was like a lonely woman, softly murmuring, seeking warmth.
Gavin was silent for a moment, then said, “Ruth, don’t do something you’ll regret.”
After all, they’d been friends for years, breaking off like this wouldn’t look good.
Ruth’s body stiffened slightly.
She hadn’t expected to be rejected so bluntly.
Gavin didn’t linger any longer, he walked straight away to his room to rest.
To be honest, he felt a bit disappointed, expecting to find some clues, but it turned out to be Ruth Frazer’s midnight flirtation. He couldn’t understand what Ruth was thinking, even if she wanted a new relationship, she shouldn’t have chosen a married man.
She was a smart woman, she should know better which type of man was more advantageous. No matter how outstanding, if she couldn’t control him, it was useless.
She really didn’t need to do this tonight.
Gavin lay back on the bed, Cherry seemed to be somewhat awake, drowsily asking him, “Where did you go?”
“Nothing, sleep.” He tucked them both in, hugging her into his arms.
Cherry mumbled with her eyes closed, “Why does it smell of alcohol…”
Gavin couldn’t help but laugh, lowered his head to kiss her, thinking she’s like a little puppy with a keen nose.
…
The night’s interlude passed quietly, the next day Aria Jackson arrived early, inquiring about the situation and brought breakfast for everyone as well.
Cherry was not in the mood, she disliked it here, affecting her appetite altogether.
Ruth Frazer seemed grateful, she specially warmed a cup of milk for each person and made a simple egg sandwich. While she was busy in the kitchen, Gavin came in to get a cup.
Ruth spoke hesitantly, “About last night… I’m so sorry, the things that have happened recently make me… a bit at a loss. If I caused you any trouble, please forget it.”
Gavin looked at her quietly, his expression indifferent, “I rested well last night, nothing happened.”
He didn’t hold it against her, but hearing this, Ruth’s face turned worse.
She watched Gavin leave, her gaze seemed to freeze, unmoving for a long time, until Cherry’s voice calling Gavin from outside snapped her back, full of intense resentment…
Her beautiful life was ruined by that lunatic Moissanite, and the man before her clearly had the ability to save her from the mud, yet he was indifferent!
Outside, Cherry was being bothered by Aria Jackson.
Just like Purple Summers, Aria Jackson never held back when using her, very familiarly leading Cherry around the house.
“Can you feel where that thing is hidden?” Aria asked her.
Cherry sighed, “Do you know? Your current behavior is like leading me into a public toilet and asking me which toilet has unflushed waste.”
Following them, Gavin suggested, “Since the whole house has been searched, and Cherry is sure the location is here, is it possible it’s underground? Maybe we should hire someone to dig?”
“Without any evidence, digging up the house of an internationally renowned art master?” Aria joked, “They’d probably suspend me for investigation, not to mention jail me for damaging someone’s property.”
“What’s the rush anyway?” Cherry shrugged nonchalantly, “That thing will eventually get hungry, won’t it? It’ll come out, and then we’ll know where it’s hidden! The problem is how to deal with it!”
Aria joked, “How about getting the mage to chant spells?”
“Useless.” Cherry waved her hand, “The witch of Kalinga Kingdom probably won’t understand our local dialect.”
“I was just saying…”
Aria paused, stopping in her tracks, her eyes fixed on a slightly white circular mark on the ground.
Cherry looked at her curiously, “What’s wrong?”
