Chapter 357: Running Scared

Chapter 357: Running Scared

"Ma’am please exit the next stop with us. We need to discuss something with you." The mustache wearing kidnapper ordered as they walked up to her and quietly talked to her.

"Is there an issue of some kind?" The woman quietly whispered back feeling shaken by being suddenly approached.

"It seems you are a person of interest in the case. We have noticed the police. We will be meeting them at the next station. So please follow us out." They ordered. Jace had to admit they were good at this. A pair of ’officers’ asking a person to quietly follow them because they were a person of interest would work on almost any good natured person. They would follow whether they are the suspected culprit or a possible witness.

Which was probably how they looked for prime targets. People who were naturally good natured would be a good target to quietly get away from the crowds. They would not raise a fuss or openly dispute because of their nature. This mustache wearing man must have a system ability or talent that assists in picking them out.

After a few minutes another announcement came up through the transport cabin. "Arriving at Parker’s Drive."

The transport came to another screeching stop and then the doors opened. Jace waited calmly with his eyes closed. Showing no sign of stepping out the doors that opened up across from him. Then after a few minutes another announcement came over the speakers. It was long after when the woman, her child, and the two fake transport officers had departed. "Leaving Parker’s Drive. Next Stop: Westway."

Jace then waited until the doors started closing when jumped right through the doors quietly. He opened his eyes and looked at the transport to see both of the two Victorium officers staring at him in surprise while the other passengers had not even noticed him slipping out.

Jace then picked up the discussion between the pair of fake transport officers and the woman. "They said they would be meeting us just over here." They told her as they walked to a parking garage. It was hidden from any surveillance device’s view. So they could discreetly abscond with the woman and her child.

"Did they say why they needed me? Was it Tori? I hope it was not Tori." She told them as Jace quietly walked around the way and moved into the garage. He was moving unnaturally quiet at the moment. But he was walking right up to them. Fortunately only the woman was armed but Jace was not as worried about being stabbed by her.

Jace quietly patted his pockets and pulled a piece of paper out of his pocket. "Ma’am!" Jace called out as he loudly jogged towards them. The pair of fake transport officers were caught off guard. "This fell out of your stroller thing." He told her as he jogged up and handed her the paper.

It was just a blank piece of paper. But it would throw them off enough that he could get close. The woman looked over the paper and then flipped it over and looked at the other side. "I do not think this is mine." She answered as a van screeched into the parking garage.

They all looked at it and the mustache man grunted. "Knock him out and we will grab them." The beer bellied man jumped forward as the mustache man jumped forward and reached for the woman.

But Jace’s approach had gotten her far enough from them that she was able to pull out the dagger she had hidden in her stroller and slashed it at the man. Causing him to jump back but not soon enough as he was cut on the arm.

The beer bellied man got a boot to the chest that sent him flying back into a car and causing its alarm to go off. The woman quickly pulled her stroller away and hid as the van pulled up. Jace dove behind a car as a gun came out of the window and the vehicle he was hiding behind was filled with bullets. He took the moment of inactivity to hack the personal communication devices of the other people in the van.

Then it raced off and he moved out from behind cover and came to check on the woman on her child. He peaked around a car and had to move back as a knife was slashed at his face. "Woah! Unnecessary but I totally understand."

She came out from behind cover while heavily panting. Neither of them look injured in the slightest. The child was crying but it did just hear gunshots so it made sense. "Sorry, I thought you were one of them. What was that about?"

"Kidnappers. I am sure you heard about a chain of them happening in the area?" Jace asked keeping his hands up to keep her calm. "Those were some of the culprits. Do you want me to wait for the police with you or may I leave?"

The woman looked at him with a confused expression and he shrugged. She shook her head, "no, I do not feel like trusting the police. So I am going to make myself scarce as well. But if you could walk me back to the station?" She requested and Jace chuckled and nodded his head.

They walked back to the station and then Jace left the woman to get back to his garage. He was tracking the kidnappers now on their hacked communication devices. But he needed to get back to listen in on their conversation. Now they would be heading back in a panic to wherever they keep the kidnapped people.

But it was sounding like he had another day to fully track them down. He would just have to scout out the place they are staying tomorrow during the day. But for now... he needed to listen and then maybe grab a few hours of sleep. He may be able to stay awake for days at a time. But it was not a pleasant experience.
