Chapter 358: Next Morning
"Mmm..." Jace groaned as he woke up to the feeling of his leg being nudged. He lifted his head off the worktable and looked down to see Cho nudging his leg. While Jordan was poking him in the side. "Can I help you girls?"
[Cho and Jordan are hungry! Cho and Jordan need food!] Cho announced directly into his mind. On one hand he had a feeling ’Cho and Jordan’ was going to be a combination he heard a lot. On the other hand, he was happy Cho had found a friend.
"Yeah, okay. Give me a moment." Jace leaned back from his workbench. He had spent most of the night eavesdropping on the kidnapping group, learning a bunch of information that he considered useful. While Mistress White would be dissatisfied with the information, Jace had a feeling it would be a wake up call for her.
While he eavesdropped on the kidnappers he had learned their little group’s name, Silver Tinge. They are a group of criminals that are dissatisfied with the current state of things on the station. Whether it was the Victorium going through each district helping the police. The dismissal of several people from positions because of the change from being under the Vexical Empire to the Victorium’s control. Then there was the fact that the district bosses agreed to wait out the storm instead of fighting back, apparently the criminals were dissatisfied with their bosses decision.
Jace ordered some food to be delivered. He glanced at the still unfinished kitchen. Then ordered for several groceries to be delivered as well. "Okay food is on the way. Now I am putting you girls to work." He announced as he walked over to the kitchen area. "Help me build the kitchen while you wait."
Allie was slowly climbing down the ladder as he walked past. "It is so early in the morning." She pointed out before following the others who were following closely behind Jace.
Jace shook his head, "not that early, it is only eight in the morning. When you get to the academy you will start waking up before six in the morning and going to sleep near midnight. Besides you girls went to sleep just after midday yesterday. I think you got plenty of sleep considering you slept for more than half a day."
As they began working on building the kitchen he thought about his plan for the day. Tonight the Silver Tinge planned to ship out another group of kidnapped people. So he had to move today.
The first thing on the docket was meeting with Mistress White, which reminded him. He checked his communication device and saw that she had responded to his message. She was going to be dropping by in a few hours. She wanted to hear the information right from the source instead of getting someone to retrieve it.
But while he waited for that he could complete setting up this place. Which reminded him that the carpet and weapons will be delivered today as well. Then once all this other stuff was complete he could work on the many projects he had been wanting to do.
One of which was a controllable flying drone. Sort of like a Hollow except much smaller and he could use it for remote observation. He had already created drones before and there were many designs and variations out there. But this one he wanted to make would have an invisibility feature.
He would have to do it in stages in order to figure out if it worked. The first design is a multi-rotor design with four rotors. It had a central body that contained the prototype invisibility cloak. As well as an observation camera and battery. It was the bare minimum he could have on a drone like this.
He would test this first one out once the rest of the place was done. He had already built it last night while he was listening in on the Silver Tinge. Listening gave him plenty of time to work with his hands. One of the things he made was the prototype drone. The other thing he had made was a new hacking device.
He was updating his old design with a few tricks and modifications he had learned from checking out Victorium technologies. Now he did not even need to directly interface with a terminal. He could remotely hack a device from a distance without them being on the same network. Although it was not as important for him since he could just use his control over electricity to open doors.
But he could use it when he was assigned missions that required him to be more discreet. Not to mention there was always a chance they could always make something that directly countered his abilities.
"Can I ask about the military academy?" Allie asked suddenly while he was finishing one of the counters.
Jace frowned and shrugged before turning back to what he was doing. "Go for it. What exactly did you want to know about?" Jace asked as he considered what he should get done next. The food was still a few minutes out. While the groceries were not going to be delivered until much later.
"It is about the thing called talents and abilities. I heard a bit about them from some of the criminals I have met but they never went into detail. What is the difference between them?" Allie asked as she pushed a piece of the kitchen into place.
"Talents are something you can do that will take some work to get better with. While abilities are something the system directly assists you with." Jace explained as he stepped back from the kitchen before moving over to hook up the refrigerator into the wall.
"The system does not help you with using your talent?" Allie asked.
"It does for a short time but most of them are things people are able to use on their own instantaneously. Like a person can develop telepathy but after a time they will be able to use it on their own. The system is just making a blueprint we can grow off of. While abilities are like a form of suggestion for ways we can use our talent." Jace explained getting a blank look in response. "You will understand once you get to your first talent. Chances are it will be something to make your life easier."
