Chapter 291: Angered Mountain Man

Chapter 291: Angered Mountain Man

"You know, I am starting to get the faintest idea that I have heard about you." Mountain Man pointed out as he flipped his card for the third turn. The rest of us started doing the same flipping over the cards.

It was the third round so it was the highest card that would win again. "Is that the information you want?" Salem asked as she looked at the Queen she flipped. Mountain Man had flipped a five. The deer beast man had flipped a six. The vampire had flipped a two. The vampire was the ultimate loser this round.

"Hmm... no actually." Mountain Man shook his head and put his hand up to stop the vampire from speaking up. "I would like to know about your acquaintance at the bar."

Salem raised an eyebrow in surprise and then chuckled, "Just the name?" She could see Marcus visibly flinch in discomfort at being pointed out.

"Yes." Mountain Man confirmed.

"Marcus Trentwood." Salem’s answer caused the Mountain Man’s eyes to widen and there were murmurs among the observers.

"Ah... you are the Union." Mountain Man nodded his head and then nodded at the Vampire. "You may begin."

The vampire quickly brought the gun to his head and there was a faint click as he squeezed his eyes shut. "Ummm... the Circle of Yuri is on the verge of complete civil war. But the main faction have plans to commence mass genocide to put them in line."

"Very well. Then for our deer friend, the woman you are looking for is on one of the moons of Ryu." Mountain Man then looked at Salem. "As for you. The man went to New Hexarian Republic territory."

Salem spotted movement at a nearby table. They were quickly tapping away at something, like they were sending a message. She listened with her mind and could hear what they were thinking, [Union is tracking the xenoarcheologist as well. We have competition. Hopefully we are able to get to him first.]

"Table to my left. He appears to have just sent out a communication. He looks like a normal human with a metal plate full of chips in front of him. Just watch him for now, no not you Marcus. You have already been made, just sit there and do not screw up worse." Salem quietly mumbled as she flipped up the fourth card at the same time as the others.

This one was for the lowest. She ended up with a seven and frowned. Looking over at the others. Mountain Man had flipped a king the highest card. But then so did Vampire. While the deer beast man drew a five.

"Well that is just bad luck." Salem chuckled as she tapped the table.

"Ha... yes it is." Mountain Man agreed. He picked up the revolver, put the barrel to his head and clicked the trigger of the gun only getting a click in response. She could tell the vampire and deer beast man were beginning to pick up on the unusual behavior and nonchalance about shooting the gun.

The vampire picked up his gun and raised it to his head pulling the trigger. "I suppose I also need to supply my information?" After it clicked he put it back on the table.

"Yes, but I will do so first." Mountain Man took a breath. "Because apparently tonight is not my night." He then looked over at the deer man, "Flow Moon of the planet Ryu." He then looked at Salem. "Hexarian System." Then finally he looked at the vampire. "You are looking for the trading space station in orbit around the main Woltar planet."

The vampire nodded his head in appreciation. "Then in that case there is a movement among the slaves of vampires. There is a technique to undo becoming a thrall. It not only cures thralls but prevents them from becoming thralls again."

This information caused even the Mountain Man to reel back in surprise. "Sounds like the vampires have a bit of trouble in paradise."

But as Salem leaned back she picked up movement from the man who sent out a communication earlier. He stood up and discreetly walked to the doors that were labeled with a clear image of a man which was next to one that was labeled for woman. [Just need to get out of the way for when the strike team arrives. I will set up in the bathroom to help them extract the bar owner.]

"Ma’am, flip your card." Salem looked back at the table to see the others had flipped their next card. Mountain Man had a Queen. The deer beast man had a Jack. The vampire had a nine. Salem flipped her fifth card to reveal an Ace.

Salem picked up the revolver and aimlessly pointed it in the air and pulled the trigger. Then she pulled out her Pyre sidearm and checked it over as she raised a hand up and signaled at the bathroom. "Sorry, but it appears someone wants to cut our game short. I hope you do not mind if I take care of it?" Salem asked, looking at the Mountain Man who blinked in surprise.

"As long as you... continue playing." The Mountain Man then motioned at his people who had pulled out their weapons. "Do you happen to know who is after me?"

"Does it count as my information in the game?" Salem asked back, smirking at him.

"Ha! Sure." Mountain Man smiled apparently satisfied.

"Marcus and Dag, grab the person in the bathroom." Salem ordered. Marcus pulled out a pistol of his own and a figure dropped from the second floor balcony and moved toward the bathroom. "Artillo, Yuti, and Ram. Keep a watch out, we have a strike team inbound. Tell me their markings beforehand."

Salem stood up and looked around doing a quick scan of all of the minds present. None of them aside from the person Marcus and Dag were subduing were part of this.

"Umm... There are strange energy readings coming from the Oda Empire that the vampires have been tracking. It has been occurring for two weeks now." The vampire explained as he watched Salem move back to her seat but kept her Pyre drawn.

"The civil war in the Montez Kingdom is worse than they will let on. The enslaved races have even acquired support from the Rogue Metal Legion, who prefer not taking part in our fights." The deer beast man explained.

Now that was some important information. With the Legion stepping into the ring things are likely to change. But that was not her focus at the moment.

"You are right. You have inbound hostiles. It looks like a Vexical Military transport." Ram told her in his robotic voice.
