Chapter 176: I Can Finally Come to You
Zachary used to attend several hours of international farewell ceremonies as a matter of routine.
But today’s farewell ceremony was over in just one hour, and he was already exhausted.
All those said to Yvonne, every word and every sentence, was making his heart bleeding.
Now it was finally over.
Zachary returned backstage exhausted, only to ran into the last person he wanted to see.
"I don’t want to see you right now." He said to Finn Levin.
Finn Levin knew that, but today he suddenly remembered something that he had to tell him.
"I know you don’t want to see me, but I have something important to tell you, about her."
Zachary’s hand that was packing his belongings stopped.
Finn Levin took out a document.
"This was handed to me by my secretary a few days ago.
"Yvonne once asked me for something when she was alive, and I had no idea that she would thank me in this way.
"Although I had been interested in this land for a long time, I think you’re more qualified to have it than I am."
After saying that, Finn Levin put the relevant information, as well as the transfer contract on the table.
Yvonne had used most of her savings to buy this land for Finn Levin to thank him for finding her the doctor.
Now that she had passed away, the land naturally came into Finn Levin’s hands, and he had just learned about it.
Zachary, however, was irritable. He didn’t care about the land nor who it should belong to. And now, everything about her annoyed him.
"If that’s what you came to say, you can leave."
Finn Levin didn’t say anything and looked at him calmly.
"There’s one more thing."
"Go ahead."
"I met with Mr. Taylor the other day."
"He said that all this time he actually didn’t really know that you guys had gotten married. But I remember that your marriage was all over the news at first, and he also responded to it personally. Not only that, his memory is off as well. He remembers everything and everyone else very clearly, but not about Yvonne.
"Mr. Taylor even went to the hospital for a checkup a few days ago, and the doctor said there was nothing wrong.
"It’s the same on her mom. They two used to value their daughter, but this year, although they knew there was this person, they couldn’t think of her from time to time.
"This year, everyone except you have been losing memories about her. And even me, I have noticed that there’s a lot about her that I can’t remember. Don’t you think there’s something fishy about this?"
Zachary said, "What are you trying to illustrate?"
"Yvonne said something to me that day when she was drunk. I didn’t take it seriously at the time, but I’ve been feeling something is wrong lately."
Zachary’s dark eyes brewed raging. He twisted his head, and looked at him coldly.
"What?"
"She said that although she was ill, she was not going to die, but was going home."
Zachary frowned when he heard those words.
"Going home?"
"Yes."
"At first I thought she was going back to the Taylor Family, but then I found out that she wasn’t. Because she never contacted Frank Taylor."
"The home she was talking about is a place I don’t know. Zachary Leinster, do you know what she’s talking about?"
Zachary didn’t know.
Suddenly he remembered the dream he’d had seven days ago!
That dream was too real, too real to be a dream.
And unlike the normal dreams, this one was very complete and continuous, as if it had actually happened!
Could it be that those weren’t dreams? Rather, like Finn Levin said, it really was another parallel world?
...
After Yvonne ’s death, everyone in the world had a skewed memory of her.
This includes Finn Levin, Frank Taylor, Yesmina Sherman, and all her fans.
The first thing that fans did was to denounce Hannah Conley. Her appearance with Zachary on the day of the Grammy Awards had already caused discontent. And now that Yvonne had died, Hannah Conley was subjected to an unprecedented amount of verbal abuse. And she ended up disappearing completely as her star career was ruined.
Although Yvonne’s heyday only lasted for a year, she left behind the music that touched so many people.
In time, people may forget about Yvonne Taylor, but the world will remember her songs.
Her work has remained on the music lists of all her loyal fans until, more than a decade later, there are still people who singled cycled and commented on her music...
But all this memory losing didn’t happened on one person.
Even though the world has weirdly forgot Yvonne, but Zachary remembered it all along.
He’s the only person in the world who hasn’t been forced to forget about Yvonne.
After many years, everyone knew that there was a low-profile rich man in the world who had never had another wife in his life.
Not only did he not have another wife, but Zachary never even had a close relationship with another woman afterwards.
He devoted his life to his business. By the time he was 50 years old, the Leinster Group had taken over the economic lifeblood of the world.
Zachary had no children of his own, but he adopted one kid in his 50s.
It was a little girl he had met by chance at the orphanage because he had heard another child call her "Yvonne" as he passed by.
This kid didn’t look like his Yvonne. The kid had big eyes with double eyelids, yet his Yvonne had single eyelids.
Yvonne Taylor had an active and enthusiastic personality, while the kid was cautious and restrained. And she was even more like Zachary after being adopted.
Pearl Leinster studied very well and got into one of the world’s top business universities at the age of 15. She went abroad alone and studied for a master’s degree in a few years, and was hailed as a "prodigy".
Later, Pearl Leinster also fell in love, married a British aristocratic offspring, and had a blond, blue-eyed, mixed-race baby. She took over most of the business of the
Leinster Group.
In his later years, Zachary finally stopped worrying about the company and became obsessed with some metaphysical and occult stuff, going so far as to believe that there is another world in the universe, almost like an old codger.
Pearl Leinster’s British husband couldn’t understand that the president of a company that was once so big could believe such nonsense in his old age.
Only Pearl Leinster was not so clear about the reason for this.
Zachary wasn’t afraid of dying, but he was afraid that even after he died, he wouldn’t be able to meet that person.
The year Zachary turned 78, Pearl Leinster wanted to take him to live with him in England. However, Zachary refused.
He said that Angria was his home and that he was waiting for someone to come back.
Maybe one day she would come back.
He didn’t want to miss her if she happened to come back one day.
But the truth was, 48 years have passed and nobody has ever come back.
Finally, one night, the housekeeper noticed that Zachary was a bit different.
Usually he had a regular routine, but he stayed up late that night with his bedroom lit up. And it seemed like he kept sitting in his room talking to himself, like he was talking to someone.
The next day, Zachary didn’t get up until noon.
The housekeeper was a little worried, and when he opened the door and went in to see, he saw only that the old man’s eyes were peacefully closed and he had fallen into an eternal slumber.
When Zachary died, he was clutching a 48-year-old photo.
In the photo, the young girl is wearing the most popular style of the time, 48 years ago.
Red lips glistering in the sun, dresses flying...
By the time Pearl Leinster returned on the earliest plane, Zachary had already gone.
His body had not yet been taken away, and in front of the remains, Pearl Leinster’s son, Lucyca, cried his heart out.
He was a young man already, but at this moment he was crying like a little kid.
He couldn’t accept his Angrish grandfather, whom he admired most, had died like that. And he asked his mother who the woman in the picture that grandpa was holding, and she said that was the person grandpa loved most in his life, his grandmother who had passed away.
Mom also said that Grandpa hated sandwiches and milk, and always walked past the convenience store just because he missed his last chance to see Grandma because he went in a store to get a sandwich and milk.
Mom also said.
Grandma was a big star in their time, and now the most classic and hot songs in the
Angrish music industry were from her...
Grandpa had a collection room that no one was allowed to enter. It’s actually full of
albums and posters that Grandma used to have...
In this life, instead of the Leinster Family’s mausoleum, Zachary was buried at sea with Yvonne in Cascara Island, Frobnia.
Because Yvonne once said that her favorite island was there.
After the 52nd concert, she wanted to go there with him for the honeymoon.
He had asked her why she liked it there, when it was clear she had never been there either.
At the time, however, she just smiled and didn’t say anything.
Yvonne Taylor, I’m finally coming to you.
For once, let them be together forever in the sunshine and never be apart again.
