Chapter 1024:

Hiss...

As soon as Ye Chen spoke, the company commander took a sharp intake of breath. Ye Chen rattled off the names of several big shots in quick succession, indicating his significant background. The company commander swallowed a few times, while the instructor beside him rolled his eyes and said with a laugh, "Ye Chen, are you really just pretending to be a big shot? Ordinary people could name these big shots too, right? Do you have any evidence?"

"No evidence!" Ye Chen shook his head and said, "If this society were fair and just, would relationships even matter? Even if I were the real grandson of Pang Zhenhua, the Chief Commander of the Nanjing Military District, wouldn’t I also have to face the judgment of the law? If even a prince is guilty and punished like common people, then how much more so for just a commander’s grandson?"

His words left the instructor speechless for a moment, making him doubt Ye Chen’s words. He laughed coldly and said, "Hmph, I think you’re just bluffing here. Come on, regardless of who he is, just for saying a prince is guilty and punished like anyone else, arrest him for me!"

Clattering...

The soldiers rushed forward, but Ye Chen remained motionless, allowing himself to be detained by the Armed Police Soldiers.

"Ye!" Duoduo and Wei Zhen, who had rushed over, were stunned when they saw the scene.

"Duoduo, don’t... don’t go over there!" Wei Zhen quickly pulled Duoduo back and said, "Be careful, or they might arrest you too!"

"No, I must find Ye!" Duoduo cried, tears streaming down her face.

Chen Fugui, watching the Armed Police put handcuffs on Ye Chen, jumped up in excitement and shouted at Ye Chen, "You bastard, Ye Chen, your day has come! Go and die; this time you’re locked up and you won’t come out! Watch how I destroy you!"

Ye Chen didn’t respond, only gave Chen Fugui the middle finger in utter contempt.

Ye Chen was taken away by the Armed Police, leaving the company commander puzzled by his behavior. He couldn’t understand why Ye Chen would let himself be taken away. Normally, he should have resisted, right? Why was he surrendering? The company commander quickly said to the instructor, "Instructor, do you think Ye Chen really has some background?"

"Hmph, who cares about his background!" The instructor laughed coldly, "Once he’s inside, he must act according to the rules!"

"Sigh!" The company commander sighed and said, "I always feel like we might be in trouble this time!"

"This isn’t something we can control!" The instructor smiled calmly, "We’re just ordinary sergeants; we have to follow orders from above. The Commander ordered us to arrest him, do we dare disobey?"

"Yeah, it’s beyond us!" The company commander nodded and said, "Once he’s inside, someone else will take him, and we’ll have nothing to do with it!"

"Alright, Lao Liu, stop worrying about it so much!" The instructor laughed, "In this Beijing City, there are lots of people with connections, but how many truly have strong connections? We’ve arrested a lot of spoiled young masters, and haven’t they been beaten half to death without causing us any trouble?"

Several military vehicles swiftly returned to the Armed Police Headquarters. Chen Facai, upon learning that Ye Chen had been arrested, was astonished. Although Ye Chen couldn’t match the army, escaping should not have been difficult for him. How could he have been caught?

Chen Facai could hardly believe it but he quickly rushed to the Armed Police Headquarters with several officers. The moment he saw Ye Chen, he finally breathed a sigh of relief and then sighed, "Ye Chen, so you’ve finally met your match!"

"What, do you feel satisfied seeing me locked up?" Ye Chen smirked coldly.

"Now that you’re in, stop trying to act all tough!" Chen Facai sneered, "Come with me now, back at the police station I’ll teach you a lesson!"

Ye Chen was transferred from the Armed Police to the hands of the police, still in handcuffs and now with shackles. Two armed officers followed behind Ye Chen, looking solemn, as if escorting a death row inmate. Ye Chen was no fool; he had allowed himself to be easily caught by the Armed Police because he had his own plan in mind. He was already thinking about other things, or rather, this was just a test, and it was only just beginning...

The news of Ye Chen’s arrest quickly reached the Central.

At the Central, people began to discuss fervently, roughly divided into three factions: one supports rescuing Ye Chen; the second believes Ye Chen should face due punishment; and the third remains neutral.

"Chairman Liu, Ye Chen’s blatant actions in Beijing City are not a good sign!" Commander Zheng De, who oversaw the Armed Police Department, quickly stood up to speak. He was always displeased with the misconduct of spoiled young masters and naturally knew what kind of person Ye Chen was. Ye Chen was the adopted grandson of Mr. Pang and Mr. Liu, deeply trusted by the two Chief Commanders.

"Hmph, who said Ye Chen was being unscrupulous?" Mr. Liu immediately stood up, glaring at Zheng De, "I tell you bunch of bastards; try saying that when Pang was not in the hospital. Now that Old Pang is hospitalized, you’re all getting bold?"

Mr. Liu was furious, realizing his diminishing authority; these brats wouldn’t know his prowess until given a harsh lesson. So, Mr. Liu simply exploded in rage, but unfortunately, such an outburst sometimes didn’t exert much pressure. Some people sarcastically commented, "Mr. Liu, it’s now a society governed by law; we must abide by the law!"

"Law?" Mr. Liu laughed heartily, "Do I need to tell you what law is? Back when I fought in the Battle of Shangganling, you were probably still playing with mud, weren’t you? Now you dare to speak of law with me? When Japan invaded, why didn’t you preach law to the Japanese?"

No one dared provoke such a venerable elder with distinguished merits. Even Chairman Liu had to show restraint in front of him. However, it’s often these veteran heroes who have the right to voice their opinions. In the conference room, everyone lowered their heads; no one dared to speak.

"Old man, sit down and talk slowly!" Chairman Liu quickly attempted to soothe Mr. Liu’s temper. He laughed, "We are merely discussing the merits of this matter."

"Does this still need a discussion?" Mr. Liu immediately pulled out a stack of documents and threw them on the table angrily, "Look clearly, the root cause of all this is Chen Fugui, that bastard was planning to drug a girl named Duoduo, and Ye Chen merely stepped in to stop him. That’s why he offended Chen Fugui. Now look at all the things that have happened, tell me, who’s right and who’s wrong?"

Everyone was taken aback, and picked up the documents to read. Zheng De also took a document and upon finding many clues, his face flushed. Then he awkwardly said, "It seems I’ll need to investigate this matter properly!"

"Hmph, old fool, how could you have any say without investigating?" Mr. Liu angrily said.

"I’m basing it on the reports from the police department! The police reports have significant discrepancies with what you’ve said!" Zheng De insisted on the information provided by the police which contradicted Mr. Liu’s version.

"Alright, alright, let me clarify this matter!" Chairman Liu finally stood up, explaining the whole story. In fact, whether Ye Chen had made a mistake or not, Chairman Liu never intended to pursue Ye Chen’s responsibility, especially since Ye Chen hadn’t committed any serious crime.

After hearing Chairman Liu, Zheng De’s face turned even redder. Finally, he lowered his head and said, "Okay, I admit I’ve only heard one side from the police department; blame it on Chen Facai being Chen Fugui’s brother, which is why this happened!"

With Zheng De’s admission of wrongdoing, the matter reached a satisfactory conclusion. The Ministry of Public Security decided to release Ye Chen; however, the announcement would have to be made by Zheng De himself. Additionally, Mr. Liu planned to personally go to the police station to request Ye Chen’s release.
