Chapter 245: Saintess Azulina

Chapter 245: Saintess Azulina

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!"

Gwen pointed at Cornelia with her thumb. "Hurry up and land so she can stop screaming."

"My ears are ringing!" Amaya huddled close to Kai, holding her ears from Cornelia’s sonic blasts from her mouth, aka her loud screams of terror.

Kai couldn’t help but shake his head. "And she was so excited to see how this bad boy works. Whatever. We’re here anyway."

The carriage landed right in front of the church, startling the guards. It was convenient that the central sea was close to the capital, which also housed the church’s main location. If it weren’t for this, their message to them would have arrived a lot later.

"W-Who are you?! Okay, hold up, you saw that flying carriage too, right?" A guard asked his colleague.

"Y-Yes. I hoped I was just drunk, but it seems that I’m not."

"Yo, good day, right officers?" Kai greeted them.

"We’re guards, not officers."

"Sure. Anyway, I’m here to meet the saintess. I have important information for her."

The guards looked at each other, then back at Kai.

"You’ll need to schedule an appointment. You cant simply meet the saintess like that."

He frowned. "But it’s me, Kai, I thought I was welcomed here."

The two guards instantly perked up. "S-Sir Kai?! Why didn’t you say so from the start!? Please enter."

The gates were open, and he was able to pass with his crew.

"Thanks for understanding. He’s a little something for your hard work." Like he usually does, he tossed the guards each a gold coin.

"T-Thank you, sir!" They bowed in unison.

The church of Aquaphina was also huge, similar in scale to the church of Gracia. There was a key difference, though. The church here wasn’t surrounded by its own city but was a part of the capital. So the gate they entered through was just one of the four gates that allowed entry into the capital.

"It’s a lot different from what I expected." He commented.

Kyana agreed, looking around and taking in the sight. "I assumed it would be a grand city like in Qasyran."

"The church is still massive." Sasha pointed out how the church was as large as a city block and was its own little community.

While all of them agreed, they thought that Qasyran was cooler.

Continuing to the church, they reached the entrance and requested an audience with the saintess. At first, people told him that she was in a meeting, but once he revealed who he was, they instantly ran inside to get her.

’They really need to get a picture of me going around here. Wait, no, that means more attention. Meh, whatever, as long as it means I don’t have to keep reminding them.’

The saintess came out shortly after being summoned, running as fast as he could to greet Kai.

"Hello, follower of Gracia from a distant land. How may I help you?" She beamed like a child when they got their favorite toy.

"Kai is fine....Miss....." Now that he thought about it, he didn’t recall getting her name.

"You can call me Azulina." She smiled

"Well, Saintess Azulina, you may refer to me by my name as well. I came here to inform you about some demonic activity going on in Rocksalt and Shartfang Island."

"Demonic activity? What do you mean?"

Kai explained what he discovered while doing a job for Picklenose, recounting everything and telling her the location of the secret base.

"This...This news is vital to stopping the demon king. Kai, do you have a sample of these pills?"

Right there, he slapped his face. How could he forget about one of the most important things about gathering information? Quickly, he teleported to the hidden lab, grabbed a handful of demon pills, then teleported back to the church, handing them to Azulina.

"Here you go. Right from their lab." He smiled.

Azulina frowned slightly. "If you came from their lab just now, why didn’t you destroy it and take those heretics into custody, or at least kill the demons?"

With a smile, he placed his hand on her shoulder. "Because that’s not my job, it’s yours."

She wanted to argue that since he was a hero, he should at least help out like one, but she held her tongue. She knew Kai was right. He wasn’t their hero, and it was the church’s job to handle matters like these.

"I understand. Will you be staying here?" She asked, putting the pills away.

"Nope. We only came here to deliver the news. We’ll be on our way now. See ya."

"Wait, Kai-"

He had already teleported away.

"Dang it."

---

Kai clapped his hands, rubbing them together with excitement. "Okay, team! Are you ready for our adventure!? Cause I am! I’m so excited that I can’t stop moving!"

"Kai, you’re just walking."

He wrapped his arm around Gwen. "Exactly! I’m so excited that I’m still walking! Walking is moving, no?" He cheesed.

"Well, that excitement might have to die down a bit because it looks like trouble is on its way." Kyana pointed toward a group of pirates headed their way.

From their looks, it seemed that they were not interested in having a nice, pleasant conversation about how many kegs of mead they could drink. Then again, looks can be deceiving.

This is why you need to be wary when talking to beautiful women, because they are probably snakes in disguise, and once you’re bitten, you either have to submit or die.

"Hey, you seven. You got an artifact ship, no?" A pirate asked.

"Believe it or not, no, we don’t," Kai responded.

"Tch, you think we’re stupid?"

"Maybe. Do you know what pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis means?" That’s an actual word. Forty-five letters just to say you have a lung disease from inhaling volcanic ash and dust. So fucking extra.

"T-That’s not even a real word!" The pirates yelled, feeling stupid.

"Ha, dumbass. But like I said before, we don’t have an artifact ship."

"Then how did it magically disappear from the docks?"

"Because I can use space magic." Kai demonstrated space magic to sell the scene better. It was still true that his ship wasn’t an artifact, but by showing off space magic, it would get them off their case easier.

"See, not an artifact. Now, we have a lost city to find."
