It was rumored that two psychic zombies were jointly controlling lower-level zombies to attack survivors.
Bases like Hope Base, with their well-prepared defenses, were of minor concern. Feiteng Base, however, had only a gate guarded by two people. If higher-level zombies appeared, the horde could easily breach the base.
A cold glint appeared in Xu Qian's eyes as she instructed, "You two hold them off for now. I'll go find Boss Li."
The two could only nod. There was no turning back now; the zombies had already surrounded the base.
She knew where Li Ping lived, having learned it when he was drunk. He had told her to find him there if anything happened.
Only last night did she realize that Li Ping wasn't irredeemably bad. He was merely self-serving, shirking responsibilities and appointing capable individuals as overseers, crushing dissent with sheer force. No one dared to offend him.
He believed as long as he held his position, that was enough.
Xu Qian went straight to Li Ping's room and knocked briskly.
"Come in~"
A seductive female voice responded.
Xu Qian pursed her lips, impressed by his audacity to indulge in such activities at 5 AM.
She twisted the doorknob and entered. Inside, there was a large bed where several beautiful women lay twitching, their faces deathly pale. Two other women sat on chairs, likely the ones who had been speaking earlier.
And then there was Bai Ruo, her neck being choked as Li Ping absorbed her abilities.
Though she had willingly allowed her abilities to be absorbed, her body still trembled uncontrollably from fear.
What if the boss, in a bad mood, drained her completely?
White light flowed from her body into Li Ping's. Soon, her limbs felt weak, and she collapsed onto the bed, her face pale.
Li Ping's complexion was ruddy, his spirits high. Absorbing abilities was like a tonic to him, especially those of women.
He had experimented with men, but the absorbed abilities were not as effective. Since then, he had exclusively chosen women.
He showed no surprise at Xu Qian's arrival, even greeting her before moving on to the next woman.
Xu Qian's expression darkened slightly. "You still have the nerve to absorb abilities here? Your base is being besieged by zombies!"
Li Ping flinched and released his grip.
"What's happening?"
"It's a zombie horde. Gather your people immediately to deal with it."
Li Ping stood up and pulled back the curtains. The sky outside was pitch black, visibility near zero.
His heart sank. She wouldn't joke about something like this.
He commanded, "Those of you who can still move, go summon the captains of each department to gather their forces for defense."
"Yes..."
After the two descended, they saw the zombie horde pouring in from outside, with Mei Yue Bai and Zhong Yang desperately fighting back.
A blade materialized in Xu Qian's hand. She charged forward, slashing, and dozens of zombie heads fell.
Li Ping did not lag behind, skillfully wielding his various abilities and occasionally plunging a dagger into a zombie's skull.
The four cooperated seamlessly, eliminating a considerable number of zombies.
By the time their hands began to ache and their abilities waned, reinforcements still hadn't arrived!
Li Ping felt a surge of anger. His base had over three hundred people, yet after half an hour, not a single one had come down. As Xu Qian had said, the base truly needed proper management.
If Xu Qian hadn't come to warn him, he would have remained oblivious, waiting for the zombies to knock on his door.
Xu Qian also began to feel weary. The sheer number of zombies was overwhelming for just the four of them.
The people of Feiteng Base had lived too comfortably, lacking any sense of crisis.
She steadied herself and produced a large loudspeaker from her spatial storage, handing it to Li Ping.
"There's no other way. It's up to you to rally them."
Li Ping's face turned ashen as he took the loudspeaker. He, the boss, was reduced to rousing people from their beds.
He walked alone to the dormitory area.
"All of you, get down here now!!"
