Commoners' Borough, at 16 Black street.
On 12th June,
It was around midnight,
At that moment, Abium sat on the sofa in the main hall and fell into deep thoughts. After he left Baron Harry's mansion, he remained in the main street for two more hours to avoid the patrol guards and finally returned to his house.
'What should I do with his corpse? Should I send it to Lady Tabitha and tell her to give it to the Academic mages for further investigation? Nah! It's not a good option. Moreover, except for his name, I also didn't find much about him….'
'But why did I act impulsively earlier? No. I was very calm back then, but I pulled the trigger only after I heard his reply. I felt like someone was manipulating me at that time. Anyway, I will check if there is any useful information in his ring first and then decide what to do with his body.' Abium rubbed his temple in frustration and soon started probing the low-tier spatial ring.
'Hmm, let's see what he stored in his ring. A bunch of skeletons, a few high-tier magic crystals, what is this? A letter and a mask?' Abium was surprised a little and soon took them out.
It was a black devil-faced mask with white lines and a few rune letters engraved. After glancing at the mask, Abium shifted his gaze towards the unsealed letter and smiled.
He saw a familiar seal on the cover!
'As I suspected, He is related to the Order of the dead!' His amber eyes constricted sharper as he started reading.
"My friend Baxter,
Yozis here! Master Rilos told me the next gathering would be held on 14th June at Keeper's underground gambling shop, Tupac lane. Come before 8 P.M using the official mask. Beware of the academic mages, though. I heard that you tried to make trouble for a newly titled mage. Master Rilos informed me that mage is a troublesome person and warned you to stay away from him for now. Also, I got a reply from Murius. He is now in the Wadel kingdom and searching for that mortal girl.
If you got any information about that girl, quickly inform Master Rilos. It seems she is an important person to him.
The next thing you must be wary of is the apprentice Bilet's teacher, Lord Nezad. After Baron Abium killed Bilet, Lord Nezad seemed to have descended to this land and took control of his body using some strange method before disappearing. Even with the Ruler of the Dead's blessing, Master Rilos couldn't find out about Lord Nezad's location. If things go messier, Master Rilos might need your cursed pendant to seal him temporarily. Master Rilos suspects that Lord Nezad has some ulterior motive. Due to Lord Nezad's arrival, some friction had already started between the higher-ups.
After Lord Nezad returned from the dead, he directly went to the Headquarters and seemed to have caused huge trouble. I overheard master Rilos's talk a while ago and learned that Lord Shade and Nezad seemed to have confronted each other! It appears Lord Nezad firmly disagreed about something and told Lord Shade and the other three Lords to stop something.
I even asked Master Rilos about that 'something,' but he just waved his hand and told me that he would inform everyone during the next gathering on 14th June…."
Abium's brow started creasing upward as he read the letter and soon turned grim.
'This guy did indeed come there to make trouble for me. Moreover, it appears that apprentice Necromancer Bilet's body got taken over by a mysterious necromancer with the 'Lord' title. What does that title represent? Is he a third-tier necromancer?'
'Hmm, I should have burned Bilet's body earlier. No! Watson's attack had destroyed Bilet's head, but this Lord seems to have taken over his body later… Troublesome indeed.'
But what made him frown deeper was that he realized that Baxter was the second-tier necromancer Rilos!
'I have no choice but to risk myself, huh?'
Abium quickly memorized all the information from the letter and then took out the emerald gem-embedded pendant from his space ring.
Then, he placed it on his palm and tried to probe it using his spirit power.
After a failed attempt, he sighed deeply and asked for Azolla's help.
'Azolla, can you show the details of this pendant?'
'I can try, kid. If it is a legendary artifact, it will take some time for me to find out about the artifact's information.' Azolla said with a serious tone.
But after a few seconds, a lengthy reply came from Azolla.
'It's a high-tier cursed artifact and has many side effects. A unique thing about this cursed artifact is that a third-tier spell model called 'Soul Slaver' is engraved inside this pendant. Once the pendent Wielder casts this spell, he would be able to enslave anyone who is within a hundred-meter radius.'
'But the problem is, Wielder's spiritual power must be above the opponent's spirit power. If he cast this spell on a person who has higher spirit power than him, then his whole life force will be sucked out, and he will die miserably. If this artifact wielder successfully cast this spell on an apprentice mage or apprentice necromancer, he will also lose 1 spirit power permanently. If it is on a first-tier necromancer or mage, he will lose 10 spirit powers, and if it is on a second-tier necromancer or mage, he will lose around 100 spirit power.'
Abium sucked in a cold breath as he heard those words and asked Azolla in a shaking voice.
"What about third-tier necromancer?"
'This pendent Wielder will lose around 1000 spirit power. This artifact should come under the pseudo-legendary realm, kid. But due to its heavy side effects, it's lost in terms of power and can be considered as a peak high-tier artifact.' Azolla replied calmly.
'It is indeed a cursed artifact. Damn, that necromancer must have thought of using this artifact to enslave my soul and control me. If I hadn't entered the mysterious fountain and checked for dangers, I wouldn't be standing here right now.' He couldn't help but heave a deep sigh.
'But still, is this really worth it? Who would be willing to lose their spirit power permanently?'
'Hmm, next is about the abyssal language scripts. Are the necromancers collecting these scripts to find more about hidden truth? But what for?' Abium furrowed.
After some thought, he put back the pendant, devil mask, and the letter inside his spatial ring and shifted his attention towards the two mysterious pages on the table.
'Azolla, can you translate it for me?' Abium asked while picking up one of the mysterious papers.
'Wait a minute, kid; I will transmit the old Abyssal Language knowledge to you.' Azolla said and instantly released the information about the old abyssal language into his mind!
Meanwhile, Abium felt an immeasurable pain assaulted in his head.
"F*CK!" He cursed out loud and soon gripped his head with both hands. After a few seconds, he felt the pain starting to vanish, followed by information about the old abyssal language engraved deep in his consciousness.
'It's the same as the Nether Language but even the characters seem to have some mysterious powers.'
He wiped the tears from the corner of his eyes and breathed a sigh of relief.
After that, he looked at the old paper in his hand and started reading the content.
