Chapter 214: Alliance

Upon hearing his words, Abium's eyes widened.

'Heh, so that's the reason Prince Raollet chose to walk on the path of Druids, huh? But how come the Lockridge family still rules the kingdom?' He furrowed his brows in suspicion.

"Let's talk about the kingdom's history another time. Crown prince Huggin had already sent multiple invitation letters to all the nobles, including Margrave Eliot, Duke Adhemar, and Duke Louvel. So, everyone will attend this gathering." He paused for a moment and then added solemnly.

"Lord Shade also told me that the Holy See members would accompany Margrave Eliot to attend this gathering and might even make some ruckus. Well, I wouldn't be surprised if they suddenly attack the academic mages during our mission and help us."

Meanwhile, Yalya frowned deeply and asked.

"Teacher wants us to cooperate with the Holy See members? No, if the Light Church members noticed our presence, wouldn't they attack us as a primary target? Unlike the Academic Mages, we are arch-enemies after all-" She suddenly paused as she thought of an absurd possibility and soon widened her eyes.

"Could it be-? We are going to team up with the Light Church members?" She sucked in a cold breath.

"Yes, it appears Lord Shade indeed made some agreement with the Light Church members. I too was surprised when I heard those words. Well, it's likely a temporary alliance." Rilos answered with a smile.

Meanwhile, Abium's whole body tensed up.

'What the hell?! An alliance between Necromancers and Light Church?!' It was absurd.

'What are the Light Church members plotting? They should've focused their full attention on the seals, right? Is it because of my actions? Tsk, I have very little information about what happened during my previous life's Grand Nobles' Gathering.' Abium narrowed his eyes as many thoughts whirled in his mind.

"That's all. From now on, lay low in some rural streets and act on your own without exposing your identity. You guys can go back now." Rilos said while signaling Yozis and Abium (Baxter) to wait.

Once everyone went outside, Rilos shifted his gaze towards Abium and spoke.

"28th June, 8 A.M. Come to the Royal Street around this time, we'll discuss about the main mission over there." He paused as his gaze landed on the emerald-colored gem embedded on Abium's neck and continued,

"Also, I might need your pendant on that day. So, don't forget that."

Meanwhile, Abium nodded and started asking a few questions about the scripts.

"Teacher, What is that bloodline curse? Is there no cure for the Last Emperor's curse?"

"No idea. Lord Shade didn't explain to me in detail and only told me a few normal things when reading." Rilos shook his head and responded.

Meanwhile, Yalya lazily leaned on the wall a few meters away from them and looked in his direction.

Unknown to Abium, she stared at him deeply and felt something was off. She had seen the same body movement before and felt puzzled.

Moreover, Yalya felt that Baxtor was acting abnormally and even posing questions to Rilos like he was forcing himself.

'Am I overthinking again?' She soon shook her head and shifted her gaze towards the outside light.

On the other hand, Abium and Yozis bid farewell to Rilos and walked out of the underground hall.

After leaving the building, Yozis didn't say anything and silently followed him. It was already dark outside, and a few street lights were lit on the sides, giving a dim glow to the surroundings.

As both walked out of the Tupac lane, Azolla suddenly spoke in his mind.

'Kid, that frizzle-haired woman seems to have noticed something odd about you.'

'What?! But how?' Abium was startled inside and asked hurriedly.

'I read about women's characters when I'm in the star tower. Most women observe their surroundings more carefully and always take notice of slight differences. They call that a woman's intuition.'

'Don't make me laugh? If every woman had such ability all this time, the Easica World would be a women dominant society by now.' Abium scoffed.

'It's their normal habit, kid. Women are basically better at reading facial expressions and emotions than men.' Azolla responded with a chuckle.

'If what you are saying is true, then she will check me using some artifact during the next meeting, right?' Abium frowned under his mask and soon realized that both had already reached the Commoners' Borough's main street.

'Well, as long as you perfect your acting skill during the next few days, I don't think she will do that." Azolla paused for a moment and then added with a hint of annoyance.

"Before that, find a way to dump this guy and go on your own. Or, use that soul bind spell on him stealthily and kill him.' Azolla suggested.

'Nah, I already risked my life and made everyone believe that I'm the real Baxter. I won't back away now. Although that necromancer woman is a problem, I will not meet her during the next meeting. Even if she tells Rilos about me, he won't cast some strange soul spell on me in this city.' Abium curled his lips upward and turned his head towards Yozis.

At that moment, he also took off his mask and asked in a deep tone.

"What are you planning to do for the next two weeks, Yozis?"

"Hm? I don't know. I just thought of entering Royal Street and searching for something interesting." Yozis also removed his mask and said with a sly smile.

"What is it?" Abium quietly stored the mask in his space ring and furrowed.

"Do you still remember the time when both of us sneaked into an underground tunnel in the Royal capital of Keris kingdom five years ago and stole a key from there?" Yozis asked.

'Hmm, Baxter soul didn't say anything about this incident, though. Sh*t, I've to act normally and evade the topic.'

Without any other choice, he nodded while trying his best to act normally and asked with an annoyed face.

"What about it?"

"I learned that there is a similar underground tunnel located in Peral Kingdom's this royal street. Although it was guarded by a few guards, we can sneak past them and might find something interesting over there. So, how about it? Do you want to tag along?" Yozis said with a wide grin on his face.

"You are as reckless as ever, Yozis. I can vaguely tell that place must be the one which Teacher Rilos wants to infiltrate during the Grand Nobles Gathering. One wrong move, we might be killed by academic mages in a matter of seconds." Abium said in an angry tone.

At the same time, he started cursing in his mind.

'Damn! This guy is insane. Azolla, I completely agree with you now.'

'Kid, why not just explore it with him now? You may find some secrets hidden there.' Azolla said with a laugh.

'I'm not a fool. I can wait for a few more days and explore along with necromancer Rilos.' As he said those words, Abium shifted his gaze towards Yozis and responded.

"I have some work to do. If you want to explore, do it on your own."

"Oh? It can't be helped then. But where can I find you after I finish exploring that place?" Yozis asked.

"I will be busy for the next few days, so don't search for me. I will join you on 28th Morning at the Royal Street entrance." Abium said as he waved his hand and entered the left-side alley.

Meanwhile, Yozis didn't find anything odd about his action, shook his head in disappointment, and went towards Royal Street.

A few minutes later, Abium entered a random Inn and changed his clothes into a normal linen shirt and pants. After that, he removed his disguise and changed his facial appearance to 'human Abium' through the 'Faceless Glass' mask.

'Hmm, I can't do anything about those two spell duration effects. For the next 30 hours, my body appearance and voice would be similar to the real Baxter.' He sighed inwardly.

But he didn't mind that, though.

After a while, he walked out of the random Inn and returned to his single-storied house at 16 Black Street.

'Hmm, I have nothing to do for the next few days. Anyway, I managed to fool most of the necromancers and even got a chance to participate in their main mission. The only thing I have to be wary of is that hooded guy who has the 'Fate Divinity." He couldn't help but frown as he thought of the unknown enemy.

'Azolla, show me my body status!'

A moment later, a blue screen popped in front of his eyes.
