Chapter 57: Chapter 57: Barrage
( WARNING: The Envoy of the nameless has descended, system advice host to RUN) ’ Oy system it can’t be that bad can it?’ but he knew.
He could feel the suffocating aura unlike anything he had ever felt before. The hands ripped the space rift apart and the surrounding space shattered into fragments like glass.
Out came a 3 metres tall humanoid creature. It entire body was blue, it face had no ears or nose only a wide mouth that stretched from one side to the other filled with razor sharp teeth and 5 eyes.
Four normal red eyes without pupils, two on each side of it face and one vertical closed eye on it forehead. The aura emanating from it was heavy and thick, it made him feel like he was drenched in sewage water.
A feeling of overwhelming disgust overcame him and he almost threw up and he wasn’t the only one. The others faces scrunched in disgust as well.
This feeling was worse than when the others arrived, it aura alone was more disgusting than all of the past vermins combined.
The envoy thing looked at it three fingered hand that ended in long claws then turned it indifferent gaze towards them but did not say a word as if speaking to them was beneath it or maybe it couldn’t speak a all.
Then spread spread it hand slowly, as if accepting a gift, a tiny white ball appeared above it palm then shot to the sky. When it reached the clouds it exploded into a blinding white light.
When it became clear everybody looked up and what they saw shook them. The sky was filled with bone spears stretching for over 30 kilometres.
It covered the entire battlefield, if the spears fall then nothing will escape ’ Oy oy oy, why is it using a finishing move so early in the fight, how it this fair, doesn’t it know the rules of combat?’. Ved wasted no time and moved, he was not running away, fast as he was he knew he could not escape the range of this attack.
He arrived next to the rabbits which had gathered together and immediately created a dome of web then another then another then another.
He used over 70 percent of his web to create a defensive dome around them. He was not the only one, each leader moved to protect theirs.
The frog and hippo protected those spiritual beasts without a rank 4 leader while the deer protected every single one who lived on the mountain range.
All of this happened in a second then the barrage of bone spears fell. The first wave broke the first layer of his web dome like it was nothing but a piece of paper.
But the second layer was stronger, the layers grew stronger the closer to him they were because he could easily infuse more will to those closer to him.
Then the second layer was breached then the third yet the waves of bone spears did not end.
He had created five layers, each with more web then the last and more will. The fourth layer put up a stronger resistance, loud explosions echoed as the spears collided against the wall of web.
He felt them grind against his web slowly overcoming it. He knew it couldn’t last for much longer at this rate but he didn’t know what else to do.
So he created an extra layer on top made of the neutral gel but the spears pierced through it like it was not even there which he had expected.
The gel was resistant to blunt force and elements like fire and water but it was useless against sharp attacks.
Then the fourth layer was breached a moment later, the only thing standing between them and the rain of spears was the final layer of web.
He infused more will into it to strengthen it further, he felt a powerful corrosive will grind against his, his will was being overpowered.
He had expected it but the rate it was being overpowered at was too fast, he prided himself in his powerful will rivaling that of beings an entire rank above him so this was a wound to his pride.
But he couldn’t falter, not here, if he did then all these cute rabbits and his buddy White will die, even if he survived he would be severely wounded.
The spears chipped the last layer piece by piece. It wouldn’t be long before it was completely breached.
’ AHHHHHHJ’ He screamed in his head but it did not help, a spear pierced through the web and headed straight for a clueless rabbit, it was merely a rank 1.
It couldn’t even perceive the spears speed let alone dodge, Ved knew he couldn’t get to in time, while sad there was nothing he could do, he was not a miracle worker.
He waited for the rabbits demise when a bolt of lightning flickered next to it then a giant stone hammer appeared and met the spear mid air.
The bone spear pierced and shattered the stone hammer in a moment and continued in it path but fortunately the shockwave had pushed the rabbit away saving it life.
The spear pierced the ground creating a giant shockwave that sent dust and stone flying.
Fortunately White contained the blast to a small area using her telekinesis preventing the others from being effected.
Ved had no time to celebrate, with the web dome pierced, it integrity had been compromised, the other spears will find it easier to pierce through.
He was prepared to use every drop of his web to fix the demage and just as he was about to the barrage stopped.
He waited for a few moments and when nothing happened he cancelled the web dome and looked up, the sky was clear without either cloud or bone spear.
He looked around the battlefield to check on the others and all he saw was destruction and death.
The ground was littered with craters of different sizes and it had turned red and black from blood.
Every single living thing within the range of that attack that was not under the protection of the rank 4’s or him were dead.
The defences of the others crumbled as well and they all appeared haggard. Even without any wounds the amount of mental strength needed to funnel the will needed to resist that level of attack was huge.
They all turned their attention towards it, it face was blank without any change in expression and it looked at them with indifference then lifted it hand and pointed a finger.
