Chapter 71: Seafaring

Chapter 71: Chapter 71: Seafaring

The piranhas pursued him relentlessly, he cut them with his claws, shattered their bodies with his tail but they were endless.

Then the river became shallow and wider, the water became denser and he could smell and taste the salt.

The piranhas stopped, unwilling to enter the sea water. He was just about to rejoice then the pain hit, his tiny bite wounds became more painful when they came in contact with the salt.

He swam to the river bank, the surroundings were nolonger a forest of insect but a huge sandy beach, he could still see the forest a bit further away.

He crawled out of the river and lied down on the cool sand. His wounds were not severe and would take only a while to heal.

He was going to spend that time on the beach. He sniffed the air and caught the scent of essence, an awakened beast was nearby, hiding beneath the sand.

He did not move and waited for it to show itself but it didn’t, instead he felt it, no it was them, he could sense multiple living creatures and they were moving away from him.

It was then that he realised he had let his aura loose which was scaring them away. He didn’t hide it, he just closed his eyes and rested.

When he woke up his wounds had already healed though they were still itching. He felt hungry and devoid of energy.

He hid his aura and walked thought the sand at a leisurely pace, he could sense where they were and they did not run from him this time.

Instead they actively approached him. He stopped and waited then the sand exploded infront of him.

Out came a giant sand crab, Ved showed no reaction to this, this was merely a rank 1 demonic beast, even if he stood still and did nothing it still wouldn’t be able to threaten him.

More crabs shot out of the sand around him and surrounded him. He created thin strings and with a mere thought cut all the crabs into pieces in an instant.

He sat down and ate, he didn’t care that they barely gave him any points he just wanted to fill his stomach.

White eating he suddenly saw a shadow growing larger next to him, he looked up and from the sky a white bird flew at him like a loosened arrow.

Ved didn’t even look at it, his strings cut through the air so fast they became invisible then a headless bird fell next to him.

He ate it as well. ’ *Status.’

Traits(7/8): Poison secretion, Herculean strength (460x), Aquatic, Flash (340x), iron scales (30 000x), Web Secretion, Electric Discharge

Evolution points:(7.4/40)

His status screen had changed, he had slightly grown larger and his evolution points had crossed seven points, which was something to celebrate.

Ancient Gods knows how hard it was for him to gather points now. He stayed on the beach for another day until his wounds completely healed.

During that time he had been occasionally attacked by birds and crabs but they were all too weak and low ranked to even give him a meaningful number of points.

He dragged his huge three legged body to the sea, the waves crashed against the beach throwing out rubbish, amongst it was a plastic bag?

Ved poked it with his claw. ’ Does this mean there are humans in this world? Or some other highly advanced race? That would be troublesome.’

Ved new how terrible humans are, while they were not all bad considering people like his dear Naledi existed most were absolute dog s***.

If they existed here and found this place then nothing living here would be safe, human greed was insatiable and they were one of the most relentless and cruel creatures he know.

Mind you he was a human himself once so he knows. He threw away the plastic and entered the sea, as a juvenile sea drake the ocean was his home.

He felt even more free being here than in the river. The salf water brushed against his scales and his pores felt refreshed as if he was breathing fresh air.

Breathing was easier, even his speed seemed to grow even though the sea water was denser than fresh water.

However the most amazing thing and the whole reason he came here was the abundant food source.

He had not swam far and he already came across a school of fish, thousands upon thousands of them and each and every single one of them was rank 1.

While individually rank 1 fish would barely make a difference in his points, at numbers like this that difference becomes apparent.

However he couldn’t chase after every single one so he opened his mouth and sucked in. A dams worth of water flowed into his mouth with thousand upon thousand of fish.

( Obtained 0.0000001, obtained 0.0000001, obtained...., Obtained....., obtained.)

In only a few seconds he had eaten almost 30 percent of the fish but unfortunately the others swam away very fast after that.

He chased after them but he didn’t use his full speed, he was enjoying the chase in the open waters, the freedom he felt.

He continued swimming further from the island and in a few minutes he was so far away he couldn’t even see it.

Having decided he had played enough he consumed the rest of them with only a few stranglers managing to run away.

He had muted the system notifications, receiving thousands of them at once was not fun.

He swam up, his stomach was full and he had just had a lot of fun, he felt content. He floated on the ocean like a log, fully enjoying the sun on his back and the sea on his belly.

His body was dragged by the waves even further in and he let it, he still knew the direction to the island and was certain he would not get lost so he didn’t care where the ocean took him.

After drifting for hundreds of kilometres over a period of a few days he was suddenly woken up by a powerful aura followed by dozens of weaker auras below him.

He looked down and swimming below him was a humongous shadow one might even mistake for an island.

It was a ridiculously large blue whale, the shadow of it visage over 4 kilometres long was perfectly outlined by the mood light above.

Ved watched with amazement as the family of blue whales swam below him, their bellows echoed across the sea like a gentle horn of heaven.

’ Holy moly, these guys are big.’
