Chapter 54: Dread

Chapter 54: Chapter 54: Dread

The cat vermin reacted too late, the giant hammer landed and blasted a giant shockwave, when the dust cleared the cat appeared in a giant 30 metres crater with it bone armour cracked.

Lightning ran across it body causing it to squirm. He turned his attention back to White, she had evolved to rank 3 and somehow managed to upgrade her bloodline to low sky grade.

Then he looked at the 70 rabbits behind her, 20 of them were rank 2 and only one was rank 3 like her but it bloodline was lower. She winked at him and he could sense her feelings.

She was happy to see him but knew he had to go fight, he nodded and left. He scanned the battlefield and realised how bad things were, they were losing.

Not only were they outnumbered, it took multiple of the normal beasts to kill a single one of these vermin due how durable their bone armour is.

The rank 3 beasts were not doing any better, each was facing a bone vermin of it rank, while they could hold their own against the white ones even though it was hard, they were struggling against the grey ones.

He even saw the lion pair that almost killed him fighting against a grey rank 3 bone vermin however they were not alone, with them were two other lions, male and female and those two seemed to be even stronger.

The female controlled ice while the male controlled wind. The two of them were spiritual beasts but when he looked closer he realised the first two had also gained spirituality.

He watched more and more struggle, thousands died each second. He knew if they continued in this trajectory they would lose.

The only upside was having 3 rank 4’s on their side, their presence reduced the strain on the others. Each one was fighting multiple rank 3 grey vermin on their own.

Especially the old frog who was fighting over a dozen rank 3 greys on his own, his ability made him too fast for any of them to react to. On top of those greys there were over 60 white rank 3 vermins.

Ved knew this couldn’t continue, he couldn’t continue killing them one by one as that was just inefficient but he also couldn’t use his poison.

While he had some control over it he still couldn’t really make it distinguish between friend of foe. And he couldn’t use his we...’ Wait, the old man said I had telekinesis, this could be worth a try.’

He shot a long line of web but didn’t make it sticky, then he seperated it into thousands of tiny almost invisible strings. ’ telekinesis, telekinesis.

Move, move, move.’ he infused his will into the strings then desired for them to move and they did. It was slow at first and sluggish but he was improving.

If not for the vermin constantly attacking him he would’ve gotten the hang of it by now. He realised another problem, dividing his will and attention to so many strings put a heavy burden on his mental strength.

Fortunately the strings were not heavy so the strain was not as large, it was bearable as long as he doesn’t mind having a small constant headache.

He closed his eyes and saw everything with his soul sense, he noticed something, his control over his strings was stronger within the range of his soul sense but became weaker the further away it was.

Fortunately his soul sense was large, stretching for 16 metres in every direction so he shortened the strings to fit within it. Dozens of bone vermin lunged at him.

They appeared to be moving in slow motion due to how strong he was compared to them as well as his soul sense making things look slow.

Then with a tug of his mind the strings moved, the vermins bodies continued moving forward then splits into hundreds of pieces.

He grinned then started running around the battlefield, his body turned into a black blur and everywhere he passed vermin turned Into pieces.

He was like a harvester in a field, yet no matter how many he killed not a single drop of blood could be seen on his strings.

Even rank 2 vermin could not last long against them, while he couldn’t cut them immediately it was only a moment’s delay.

While harvesting vermins life like a grim reaper he turned his attention to the other battles, the eagle was still struggling against the winged rat.

The others were also facing their own problems but the one who surprised him the most was White, she was now facing a giant grey bone snake, having long killed the cat.

The battle maniac was grinning and she was doing better than most, mostly due to her speed. Her attacks didn’t even leave a mark on the snakes bone scales but the snake was also not fast enough to catch her so they were playing a game of cat and mouse with a very annoying mouse.

Even without intelligence he could tell the snake was frustrated. The situation changed when the old man Goldi killed all of his opponents.

His abilities were really powerful not to mention he can do kung fu. Then he started helping the others which alleviated the pressure off them.

The other two rank 4’s weren’t far behind either. The hippo had been hitting her opponents with her waves over and over again.

He knew she was trying to find the frequency that resonate with them and finally she did then with a final gigantic wave she shattered their entire bodies into pieces.

The deer on the other hand used a technique all too familiar too him, during her fight she had been creating flowers, so much so that the entire battlefield around them had turned into a field of flowers.

And those flowers were very tenacious, everytime they’re were destroyed by the shockwaves more grew back and kept releasing spores.

And eventually these spores grew flowers inside their bodies. Vines and flowers broke out of their skin and used their bodies as fertilisers while they were still alive. It was not a good way to go. This looked similar to his poison strategy.

With those three nolonger being held back the situation changed. The vermin numbers started growing fewer and fewer but Ved was still worried, afterall, the space rift was yet to close.

As if jinxed the space rift shook and out poured more and more vermin, the numbers were way more than before but the most terrifying thing were the two pitch black vermin behind the others.

Ved felt a sense of defeat and dread rise inside him.
