"What should we eat today?" Number Three was still in high spirits, giving me the impression that he wasn't here on a mission, but specifically for a vacation.
And it seemed he was truly enjoying this vacation-like life.
I couldn't say much either, as he was the one who was supposed to kill me.
"What do you want to eat?" I asked.
"I'm a bit tired of grilled meat these past few days, I want something different..." Number Three looked at me happily.
I then turned my gaze to Lin Chun.
For some reason, I felt that ever since Number Three started following us, Lin Chun had been a bit off.
He was always dejected, lacked motivation, and most importantly, he rarely smiled.
"I don't know what to eat either..." Lin Chun glanced at the vast expanse of the sea, a hint of melancholy flashing deep within his eyes.
Seeing this, I didn't say much more: "How about this, let's eat some fish today..."
"Let me do it!" Number Three said and jumped into the water.
Lin Chun and I sat on the shore.
Lin Chun stared blankly at the sea, as if he had lost all his vitality.
"Let's chat after we eat!" I suddenly said with a smile.
Hearing this, Lin Chun paused slightly, as if he had thought of something: "Alright..."
Although I had no idea what was going on in his head, I could clearly sense that his current state was very wrong, and continuing like this would definitely affect many things.
And I certainly couldn't let that happen.
Not long after, Number Three surfaced, holding a tuna weighing three to four hundred pounds.
Tuna might be valuable in the outside world, but it was very common here.
A tuna weighing several hundred pounds wasn't particularly rare.
"Let's just eat sashimi..." I said with a smile.
Lin Chun didn't say much and nodded.
This meal wasn't particularly enjoyable. The three of us found it a bit difficult to accept eating raw food.
In the end, we decided to grill this tuna too...
Even though it felt like a waste of ingredients, there was nothing we could do if we couldn't get used to it...
Night gradually fell. We found a sheltered spot under a rock for the night. After dinner, Number Three went to rest.
After this period of time together, Number Three's condition was excellent. At least, in my opinion, his mental state was very good.
Most importantly, he no longer had nightmares or slept with a contorted expression...
It was evident that he had been living quite comfortably these past few days.
"Let's go out and talk..." I looked at Lin Chun and patted his shoulder.
Lin Chun smiled, stood up, and we walked along the beach.
The moon shone down from the sky, and the entire beach, with its rippling light waves, reflected onto the sand, looking incredibly beautiful.
Two grown men walking on the beach didn't hold much romantic sentiment.
"What's been going on lately?" I asked first.
Lin Chun smiled, then shook his head: "Nothing's wrong..."
"Do you think you can fool me?" I asked with a smile.
"It really feels like nothing's wrong..." Lin Chun insisted.
"Are you feeling like your strength isn't as good as Number Three's, and you're starting to give up on yourself?" I directly pointed it out.
Hearing this, Lin Chun paused, remained silent for a long time, and then slowly said: "I always thought I was the strongest fighter by your side, but after meeting Number Three, I realized I probably won't be much help to you in the future..."
"I know my own strength very well. Even if I fought Number Three with all my might, I still couldn't beat him," Lin Chun said with a bitter smile. "I even suspect that even if I used a weapon, I still wouldn't be able to defeat this guy..."
"I don't know how this guy trained, but his strength has earned my admiration!"
Hearing these words, the smile on my face grew brighter.
"There's something I want to tell you, but whether you listen or not is up to you..." I said slowly. "If you listen, it might clear up many of your doubts and help you understand many things..."
"But, at the same time, you might encounter a great deal of trouble!"
"If you don't listen, none of this will happen!" I said seriously. "Think it over carefully and tell me when you've decided!"
Before I finished speaking, Lin Chun immediately replied: "I'll listen!"
"Are you sure?" I looked at Lin Chun and said earnestly, "After you hear this, you must keep it a secret. And if you let this secret get out, I will definitely find a way to kill you!"
"It's just that some things need to be clarified..." Lin Chun said. "You can completely trust me when it comes to keeping secrets!"
"Since that's the case..." I took a deep breath, the sea breeze carrying a salty scent. "Then I will tell you everything!"
