Chapter 371 Mr. A

What important matter does this guy need to tell me?!

The Duchen tribe is currently a place where there are too many chickens and not enough wolves, with many contenders for power.

On the surface, there are two major factions: the leader faction led by Hu Tu, and the temple faction led by the High Priest.

Beneath these two major factions, many branches have emerged, such as undercover agents like myself and those unwilling to be pawns, like Pan Lili.

Among these people, I can ascertain the goals and desires of many, but this man I currently have under my control is someone I cannot figure out.

Initially, I considered him a representative of some external force that had reached an agreement with the High Priest.

However, as time went on, especially since this guy came to see me on my first day in office, it truly left me puzzled.

Logically, someone like me, branded as a loyal follower of Hu Tu, would never be able to reach any cooperation with the High Priest's side.

As long as this mysterious man wasn't an idiot, he would naturally understand this. His stance then becomes rather intriguing.

"Oh? No rush, take your time, there's plenty of night left."

I temporarily withdrew the hunting knife I held at the mysterious man's neck, idly playing with it in my hand, watching him with a half-smile.

If he could indeed reveal something important, that would be one thing. If not, he would have to leave something behind before he could go.

The mysterious man coughed forcefully, and his previously flushed face slowly returned to normal.

Seeing my demeanor, he no longer put on the pretense of being a playful show-off.

"Commander Ba Du, do you know you are in grave danger?!"

The mysterious man deliberately leaned closer, lowering his voice and acting mysterious.

Playing riddles with me again?!

"And then?"

The mysterious man was taken aback, completely unprepared for my reaction.

"To tell you the truth, the High Priest is planning to kill you soon!"

I unhurriedly sheathed the meticulously sharpened hunting knife, tucking it at my waist, and glanced casually at the mysterious man.

"I know about that. You wouldn't have come all this way in the middle of the night just to remind me, would you?"

The mysterious man straightened his somewhat disheveled clothes and looked at me with genuine seriousness.

"Of course not, Commander Ba Du. Since you know about this matter, then let us cooperate!"

This statement from the mysterious man immediately amused me. I laughed and reached out to pat his shoulder.

"Why are you so interesting now? I don't even know your name or where you're from, and you want to talk about cooperation? You're far too insincere."

The mysterious man looked at me in surprise at my words, as if he were seeing me anew.

"Commander Ba Du, you can call me Mr. A. I come from a very distant place. Please believe me, I am truly sincere in wanting to cooperate with you."

"Oh? Then I must hear what sincerity you have."

Although Mr. A's expression was very earnest and his words full of sincerity, we were both old foxes who had no need to play games.

As long as this fellow didn't produce any tangible evidence, he wouldn't be able to gain my trust with mere words.

"Commander Ba Du, since you say so, then I will tell you. The Blessing Ceremony to be held in a few days is a trap set for you!"

How boring. Can't you say something I don't already know?

I had no intention of playing coy with Mr. A, so I simply nodded directly.

"I could have guessed this even without you telling me. So, do you have anything else to say?"

My reaction seemed to have caught Mr. A off guard. His smile was somewhat stiff, and his eyes darted around as if he were contemplating his next move.

To be honest, I was starting to lose interest in this Mr. A.

He really thought he could fool me like the illiterate savages on this island!

"Mr. A, if you haven't thought of what to say next, then you can go back. I'll give you time. However, what you did tonight, eavesdropping on my conversation with my subordinates, cannot be let go so easily. Are you prepared to leave something behind?"

Mr. A took a handkerchief from his pocket, wiped the sweat from his face, and then bowed deeply to me.

"Commander Ba Du, I deeply apologize for what happened just now. Please accept this small token of my sincerity."

Mr. A then produced a small, transparent bottle from somewhere, containing an unknown liquid.

"This is a healing solution we've developed exclusively. It promotes bodily recovery. When you use it, just open the bottle and drink it."

I took the bottle, shook it in front of my eyes, and smiled with satisfaction.

"Then I shall accept it."

Just as I was about to politely bid farewell to Mr. A, a breeze rustled through the nearby grass.

"Swish!"

A sharp sound pierced the night air!
