Chapter 1094: Chapter 1094: Asking for Trouble
The Yu Family.
Yu Shaohua and Shao Han rarely come back, and since this is a family reunion, they practically brought the entire family.
Yu Shaohua is being transferred to the Capital City, so his wife and son have also returned with him. Except for his son who works out of town and can’t go back to the Capital City with him, his wife and daughter are going back together.
This time Shao Han has also taken a leave of absence, having not returned for several years, bringing her daughter Yan Chunlu back with her. Her husband is still busy with work and can’t easily take leave.
Recently, in the kitchen, Old Mrs. Yu, Shao Han, and Xu Min, Yu Shaohua’s wife, are busy cooking together.
Old Mrs. Yu is the one in charge of cooking.
Though the old lady is already over seventy, she’s still quite adept with her culinary skills.
Shao Han and Xu Min are the assistants.
The second sister-in-law hasn’t long had surgery and can’t exert herself. Among the girls, none are skilled in cooking and can’t lend a hand.
Shao Han complained while picking vegetables, “Mom, why is the second sister-in-law’s health so poor? She’s had surgery now, and will need caring for in the future. My second brother just got promoted to department head — isn’t this dragging him down? My second brother is in his prime, and now at this position, it’s the perfect time to shine.”
Upon returning and hearing about the second brother’s situation, she initially worried the family might be implicated, having boasted quite a bit about her second brother being the bureau chief of the Health Department. Both the eldest brother and second brother are prestigious names.
Now that something suddenly happened to her second brother, what should she do next?
Fortunately, after a month, who’d have thought her second brother could make a comeback like that? Truly unexpected, Shao Han has already been pondering trying to get her second brother to help transfer Yan Chunlu to Modu; this girl is really losing it.
At this rate, sooner or later there will be trouble.
The old lady flipped the pork elbow in the pot and said, “You should mind your own business about your second brother’s affairs. Your second sister-in-law’s health hasn’t been good for a long time. All these years have passed without dragging them down, it’s not your place to complain now.”
This daughter is truly insensitive, discussing her brother’s family matters while her sister-in-law is right there washing vegetables — how improper.
It’s not just about making the sister-in-law upset, but also not wanting her daughter to offend the sisters-in-law; words like these are better left unsaid.
Shao Han forcefully removed the strings from the green beans, “I hardly get to come back, yet you still treat me like this, always criticizing me. I’m practically out of options. Are you really my own mother?”
Shao Han’s recent troubles were many. Her daughter caused such a big mess, nearly getting expelled. If it weren’t for Yu Shaohua, Yan Chunlu would not be here now but in court.
Three people were injured because of it, Bai Song almost didn’t make it, taking seven days of emergency care to be saved, and now there’s a severe scar on his face — it’s disfigured. One leg is said to be bad, too. He’s not discharged yet either.
Bai Xiao, the niece, doesn’t even know about it. If she did, who knows how she’d react.
This time she also heard her second brother was promoted to Health Department Head, and thought of relocating Yan Chunlu to a hospital in Modu for a position. It shouldn’t be an issue, right?
“You’re not my biological child; I picked you up from the garbage!”
The old lady laughed.
Xu Min also smiled. As the eldest sister-in-law, Xu Min and Yu Shaohua are united as a couple, internally disapproving of this little sister-in-law, yet outwardly she leaves no trace of this.
“Sister, you’re wronging the old lady. Isn’t she the one who loves you most in this family?”
“Don’t mind her. She’s just a white-eyed wolf, an ungrateful one, at that.” The old lady murmured with her eldest daughter-in-law.
Shao Han looked angrily at her own mother and sister-in-law showing their affection, feeling very irritated — she’s unwelcome everywhere.
All because of Yan Chunlu.
“Grandma, Auntie, Little Aunt.”
Bai Xiao poked her head in from the doorway, greeting everyone.
An Zhiyuan and the eldest and second uncles were chatting with the old man.
Yu Feixue helped her aunt upstairs to rest. She was avoiding Yan Chunlu, hence she ran to the kitchen. This little girl eagerly wanted to get close to her, but she had no desire to solve any “emotional” problems, especially those involving her own big brother.
She also didn’t think Bai Song and Yan Chunlu were a good match.
Yan Chunlu was a bit too immature, needing someone to take care of her! But as a person, if one always relies on others to take care of them, they won’t be able to stand on their own.
She came over to hide.
“Coming back so late as the younger generation, not even noticing us elders are busy here, is this proper? A lack of family upbringing.” Shao Han started firing away as soon she saw Bai Xiao, and her attack was intense.
Bai Xiao’s face sank; this was really testing her patience.
“I indeed have no upbringing. My mom passed away early; she never taught me that all the younger ones should be staying outside, why can’t I stay outside?”
With just one sentence, she brought up upbringing, and Bai Xiao was genuinely angry.
Normally very mild-mannered, but that didn’t mean the old lady didn’t understand how strong-willed this granddaughter was. Back in the day, she even refused to recognize them, this little girl was even more stubborn than a calf, arguing fiercely with each of them.
Now this daughter dared criticize the granddaughter’s lack of upbringing face-to-face. Seeing Bai Xiao’s fiery eyes, the old lady shivered inside, fearing her granddaughter might slam the door and leave in a huff.
“Am I not allowed to speak? Look at your attitude at your young age. However you put it, I’m your little aunt. Should any junior talk to their elder like this? I said you lack upbringing, am I wrong?”
“Shut up! If you keep talking nonsense like this, watch out or I’ll kick you out. Bai Xiao, don’t pay attention to your little aunt. Go find Xiaoxue and the others in the living room. This child is busy in the hospital all the time and finally gets to breathe. You’re actually giving her attitude, are you out of your mind?”
The old lady stepped up to protect her granddaughter.
Shao Han could only grudgingly shut her mouth, seeing her own mother defending Bai Xiao.
Bai Xiao also didn’t want to stoop to the level of this little aunt and turned to leave for the living room. If she clashed with Shao Han, it would put her uncle, grandma, and grandpa in an awkward position.
After seeing Bai Xiao leave, the old lady turned around and gave Shao Han a hard slap.
Shao Han felt deeply wronged.
“Mom, what are you doing? Why hit me so suddenly?”
“You’re asking why I hit you? Look at yourself, a grown woman, and don’t even know what you should be saying? All these years, you’ve been spoiled rotten because you’re the youngest. If you behave like this outside, you’ll suffer sooner or later.
It’s just that the family doesn’t hold it against you. If they did, this slap would’ve been considered light.”
