Three days later, Jun Wu and Mei Ling arrived at their destination.
Standing a kilometer from the Shadowless Region, the two sucked in a cold breath subconsciously.
They had read a lot about the Shadowless Region but experiencing it personally was different from their imagination.
Mere looking at the Shadowless Region was like staring at another world.
It was entirely different from their Soaring Cloud Region—sunny and bright, filled with vitality.
The Shadow Region was a region where the sun forgot to reach.
They could see the outline of a jagged mountain range that stretched into the horizon.
Their peak was impossible to see, shrouded in thick darkness. The oppressive atmosphere was suffocating, giving them goosebumps.
"Shall we?" Jun Wu looked at Mei Ling.
Hmm!
She nodded with a flicker of determination burning deep in her eyes.
This was her calling. The world was shrouded in many mysteries, and it was left for her to unravel them all, one after another.
Arriving at the boundary of the Shadowless Region, the oppressive atmosphere increased rapidly.
Staring into the darkness, it was as if the darkness was staring back at them.
Anyone with a weak mind would easily lose their mind staring at the horrifying void.
Jun Wu and Mei Ling were far from ordinary people. Without hesitating, they stepped into the darkness.
The Shadowless Region wrapped its darkness around them like a second skin, as if welcoming them.
"Huh!"
Jun Wu gasped in shock.
Inside, the scene was more terrifying than he had imagined.
His sight was obstructed, and he could barely see a few hundred meters.
Beside him, Mei Ling's situation was even worse.
She was merely an Intermediate Stage First‑Rated Martial Artist.
She could only see ten meters around her; beyond that, it was like staring into an endless abyss.
"Stay close!" Jun Wu's voice jolted her out of her daze.
She turned and looked at him, noticing that his situation was far better than hers.
She furrowed her brow, confused. The last time she checked, she was a lot stronger than him.
Although she did not know how he could fare better, she was not an indecisive person.
Quickly, she moved closer to him. This was not the time to care about manners between boys and girls.
Cautiously, they headed deeper into the Shadowless Region.
The whispers were increasing, and the darkness thickened with each passing second.
Subconsciously, Mei Ling unsheathed her weapon, ready for a life-and-death battle. Jun Wu had also taken out his Runic Revolver.
Ahh!
Suddenly, an unknown thing wrapped around their legs and dragged them forcefully.
Both let out a cry but recovered and began to struggle to free themselves.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Jun Wu released a series of shots in the direction they were being dragged.
Hiss! Hisss!
A furious hiss came from a few meters ahead. The air twisted inside out with various cutting sounds rushing toward them.
"It's a man-eating vine!" Jun Wu shouted.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Beside him, Mei Ling was not idle and struck randomly around her.
She managed to cut a few vines but they were quickly replaced by dense, stronger vines.
The atmosphere was tense. Jun Wu did not stop firing. With each shot, the man-eating vine's speed reduced greatly.
The man-eating vine was furious and latched out at the puny humans.
Feeling a fast rushing sound coming toward him, Jun Wu cast another six Wind Blades around.
Under the darkness, the Six Wind Blades sliced all the incoming vines into pieces.
Compared to the Wind Blade when he was still a Martial artist, the Wind Blade had grown stronger and more deadly with flexibility.
"We need to leave immediately." He shouted.
Although the Runic Revolver could injure the man-eating vine, the injury was not life-threatening.
In an environment where their vision was obstructed, a prolonged battle was unwise.
Mei Ling nodded in agreement.
From the vine thickness, she could detect that the vines were growing stronger and more difficult to deal with.
Cutting off the vines around them, they picked a random direction and escaped.
From behind them, they could hear the rapid chase of the vine.
"It is getting closer!" Jun Wu's heart skipped a beat.
He never expected the vines' speed would be that quick; they shuttled after them like bullets.
Seeing Mei Ling behind him, already lagging behind, Jun Wu made a decision.
Whoosh!
He carried her in a princess-style and activated his Swift Wind Boots.
Ah!
Mei Ling was furious and wanted to lash out at him.
But when she saw his speed, she swallowed whatever she wanted to say.
Quickly, the distance between them and the man-eating vine increased with every passing second.
Before long, they had long since shaken off the man-eating vines. After confirming they had lost them, Jun Wu set Mei Ling down.
"Thank you," Mei Ling said directly.
Jun Wu nodded and scanned their surroundings. He noticed the place was damp compared to where they had come from.
"There should be water around here?" Mei Ling whispered.
Jun Wu nodded; he could already see the surface of a river. He could not tell how wide the river was, except that his instinct was screaming danger.
"Let's leave this place," he said and began retreating.
He never expected the Shadowless Region would be this terrifying.
Mei Ling did not argue with him. She could already feel that the region was even more terrifying than where they came from.
However, just as they prepared to depart, the scene shifted.
The calm river erupted, and a massive tentacle shot out, crashing toward them.
Bang!
Instinctively, Jun Wu activated his defensive array formation.
The shield covered both of them, but under the terrifying might of the tentacle, a spider crack appeared on it.
"This is bad!" He screamed.
From the river, he could see more tentacles appearing.
"Let go!" He picked her up and escaped with his greatest speed.
Boom!
They heard a deafening sound behind them, and all the hair on their bodies stood on end.
