Chapter 380: Lawyering Up
The door creaked open again, this time admitting Luna and Kaiden.
Both wore robes hastily thrown over still-warm skin, while their hair was mussed from sweat and steam. Kaiden’s expression was unmistakable to a pair of observant feminine eyes. Satisfied, smug, carrying the glow of a man who had just emptied his balls in his lovers thoroughly. Nyx’s sharp eyes caught it instantly. She was full of amusement. ‘Of course he did.’
Luna, however, looked far less triumphant.
Her lips trembled as she clasped her hands before her. “I…” she began haltingly, bowing her head so deep the robe collar fell open at her chest. “I’m sorry. I wanted to get the heavy weight off my chest so badly, I… I forgot your situation. I-”
“W-wait!” Alexandra panicked, standing abruptly and bowing back just as low. “Please don’t! You don’t have anything to apologize for, I mean it!” Their heads nearly collided.
“Speaking of…” Nyx cut in smoothly, swirling her half-empty mug with a grin. “Getting that heavy weight off your chest, what exactly brought that about, bestie? You’re not someone who can be made to see the light with a stern talking to.”
Luna froze. Her ears twitched like a guilty cat’s. Then, in the most shameless dodge imaginable, she turned her head away from the pink-haired Valkyrie. “Sorry, didn’t quite catch that.”
“Ohhh no, don’t you pull that on me,” Nyx purred with her grin splitting wider, especially when she realized that just her tone alone was enough to make the girl nearly cuss her out again. She could just tell that Luna was a moment away from calling her a dumb bimbo, but she managed to refrain once again.
Impressive.
Nyx leaned forward with her eyes glittering. “I know that look. I can smell the truth on you. *sniff* *sniff* Let me guess… Kaiden dominated you in bed so badly you realized that not being in control isn’t so much fun, at least not when it isn’t your lover who’s destroying your poor little butt.”
Luna whimpered.
Actually whimpered.
Her shoulders scrunched up to her ears, and she stared down at the floor with the expression of a kicked puppy. A puppy whose face was adorned with deep red cheeks, she was embarrassed beyond reason.
That reaction was more than enough to let Nyx know she was right on the money.
But, frankly, the confirmation was not needed. Merely looking into her boyfriend’s eyes was enough for the social butterfly to know exactly what had happened.
He was far too smug for his own good.
So, Nyx turned her gaze to Kaiden. She was no longer sporting a wicked grin. “Not cool, boyfriend. I distinctly remember asking you not to do this.”
Kaiden lifted both of his hands in defense, though his smirk remained lazy and self-satisfied. “I didn’t do anything, Space Babe. I just made extremely fervent love to my girl. I broke no promises between the two of us.”
Her eyes narrowed into slits only a dissatisfied girlfriend could manage, the kind that saw through every smug technicality. “… You played the rules on a loophole. And it’s not even a proper loophole; it won’t hold up in court.”
Kaiden only smiled wider as he began muttering a barrage of nonsense. “I wouldn’t dare. I have no clue what you’re talking about. I want my lawyer.”
“A lawyer, he says…” Nyx scoffed, but her good mood was hard to ruin. However, she still felt troubled. “How can I get my revenge like this? It won’t feel good after hearing her sincere apology… Honestly, I feel cheated.”
“Revenge?” Luna blurted out instantly, sounding surprised.
“Hah!” Nyx couldn’t help but snicker at the mere thought she wouldn’t mete out justice. “Of course. You thought I would just take it lying down? Hell no. I might be a sub, but not to you, bestie. I planned to use my space powers to recreate the legendary tentacle hentai technique on you. I just needed to grow a bit more in my space powers to go through with it.”
Kaiden shook his head, hearing the reply Nyx gave. “You might not like hearing this, but I’m glad I did what I did. Because if you followed through on that idea, Nyx, this would’ve gone straight to hell. And not the fun kind.” His lips quirked dryly. “No sexy catfights in lacy underwear. Just two bitter women spiting each other. That’s harem wars I can live without.”
Nyx stared at him for a good dozen seconds with lips pressed in a line. The tension stretched long enough that Alexandra actually gulped quietly behind her cup. Finally, Nyx sighed and slumped back into her pillows with theatrical defeat. “You know what? You’re right, Kai.”
She then looked at Luna and, while wearing a sagely expression, declared, “I’ll be the bigger woman and accept your apology.”
Luna visibly twitched. Her throat worked, as though the words ‘shut the hell up’ were trying to claw their way out. The stormy girl clenched her fists so tight the fabric of her robe wrinkled, but she forced her jaw shut.
Nyx smirked. “Of course, you’re still not off the hook. I’ll still spank your rude butt when you least expect it, just without going overboard.”
“… Cowkin bitch,” Luna grumbled under her breath, almost too low to be heard.
Nyx immediately cupped both hands behind her ears, clearly exaggerating like all hell. “What was that? Speak up, bestie, I can’t hear you.”
Luna looked like a pot about to boil over.
Her cheeks puffed, her eyes squeezed shut, and her whole body was trembling, visibly conflicted between two warring desires: her heartfelt regret and her burning, primal urge to curse the pink-haired menace out of existence.
The back-and-forth contorted her expression into a ridiculous mask: one moment guilt-ridden, the next feral.
Finally, the storm inside her broke. She snapped her eyes open, sported the smuggest bratty grin imaginable, and flipped Nyx off with both hands. “Shove it up your loose ass, Anal Slut!” she shouted, then spun on her heel and bolted for the hallway, laughing as she slammed the door behind her.
Kaiden watched her depart with wry eyes, running a hand down his face. When he turned back, he blinked in surprise. Nyx wasn’t scowling. She wasn’t pouting. She was smiling, softly, tenderly, even as her mug tilted in her hand.
The apology had actually reached her, and Luna’s following rude remark had made her oddly happy. Of course, in a way that told Kaiden she was already thinking of a way to get back at Luna.
‘Peace? Between these two?’ Kaiden sighed inwardly. ‘How could I even harbor such delusions?’
Still… he could feel it. The air between them wasn’t poisoned anymore. It was lighter. Sharp, yes. It was most certainly still filled with rivalry and barbs, but no longer with venom.
And that, he realized, was exactly how it should be.
A docile Luna who turns into an angel wouldn’t be the woman he fell for. A Nyx without a sharp tongue wouldn’t be, either. They just needed balance, and right now, it seemed they were back on the right path.
With a big smile, he sighed.
“My chaotic home life continues.”
