Chapter 201: Queeney Takes Action

Chapter 201: Queeney Takes Action

Hilla called Bruce while driving to the countryside.

It took a while before the call connected, but it was not Bruce’s voice.

James said, "Mr. Anderson is in a meeting, and this meeting is very important. What’s wrong with you?"

James had told her about Bruce’s whereabouts and that Bruce had been quite occupied now.

The meeting must be very important so that James said that to her.

Hilla said in a low voice, "I’m fine. After Bruce finishes the meeting, tell him that I’ll go back to the studio. I won’t be home tonight."

Before James could respond, Hilla had hung up the phone.

Hilla drove the car and sighed. Halle was alone in the countryside. Although Halle had two assistants and Maritza help her, when the studio was busy, Emily would still not be taken good care of.

Emily was only one year old, and she even could not walk steadily, let alone run around.

Hilla had prepared for the worst. She had a headache and hoped that the worst would not happen.

As the car drove to the countryside, Hilla received a call from Horton.

Horton would always appear at crucial times, as if God had arranged it.

"I heard you met the person in charge of the Hutt Group today? Do you need my help?"

Horton had just gotten off work and took off his white coat. Although he said it casually, only he knew his thoughts.

He hadn’t seen Halle for a year. Without Hilla, it seemed that he had no chance to see Halle.

Hilla was Halle’s younger sister, and he was kind to Hilla because of Halle.

However, he just wanted to see Halle, even if it was just a glance.

"No need. I have something to do now. I will take time to deal with the matter of raw materials myself. You don’t need to interfere."

Because she was very worried, her voice sounded very cold.

But Horton heard something wrong in her voice. He asked tentatively, "Does something happen to the studio?"

Hilla closed her eyes slightly and then looked at the long asphalt road in front of her. Horton was Emily’s father, but he didn’t take the responsibility. Thinking about that,

she was very angry.

"Emily is missing, and I am rushing back to the countryside now."

Hilla shouted angrily. She didn’t know what the mood Horton had, but she was frightened by herself.

She turned off her phone and parked the car by the roadside. After a few breaths, she calmed herself down and continued to drive to the countryside.

She knew how dangerous it was to drive with emotions, so Hilla tried her best to calm herself down.

When Hilla returned to the studio, it was already evening, and Halle with a pale face was sitting in the room with Emily in her arms.

Emily who was in Halle’s arms had fallen asleep, and she was sleeping soundly. She didn’t seem to have been hurt at all. Hilla heaved a sigh of relief.

Halle was in a daze. She sat on the bed and stared at Emily in her arms. Her face was pale and bloodless.

Hilla walked up to Halle and called out softly, "Halle!"

Halle did not respond. She only bit her lips tightly with red eyes. Her gaze was still fixed on Emily in her arms, as if as long as she closed her eyes, Emily would disappear.

Hilla frowned. She wanted to ask Halle what had happened, but she didn’t. In the end, she slowly left the room. She turned around and saw Stella standing in the courtyard.

"What happened? When did Emily come back?"

Stella glanced at Halle in the room and said, "Half an hour before you came back, a young man sent Emily back. Halle was very angry and scolded the man. Later, Halle held Emily in her arms and stayed in the room. She didn’t talk to us."

Stella thought of Halle who scolded that man. She felt a lingering fear in her heart.

This was the first time she had seen Halle lose her temper in half a year.

Everyone in the studio knew that Halle was a single mother and Emily was the apple of her eye. Usually, when Emily was injured, Halle would feel distressed for a long time, not to mention this time, Emily was almost missing.

Halle, who was looking for Emily, looked like a mad. She was not as gentle as before.

Hilla’s face darkened after hearing these words, and she couldn’t help but turn to look at Halle’s room.

She had seen Halle’s appearance just now. This was the first time she had seen Halle become so crazy that even she didn’t dare to go to her.

Hilla didn’t dare go to ask, so she could only sit in the courtyard and wait.

The grapes on the vine had turned into light purple. Hilla sat on the table under the

vine and counted the grapes on her head.

In the quiet courtyard, the evening breeze blew away the hot summer heat, and there was a trace of a slight coolness.

Hilla sat quietly under the vine. Her hair was stirred by the breeze and fell on her lips. Her side face looked very beautiful in the moonlight.

The air was filled with the fresh scent of jasmine flowers that had just bloomed in the courtyard. As the evening breeze blew, it scattered throughout the courtyard.

The room behind Hilla gradually lit up, and even Halle’s room had a soft light of the night lamp.

Maritza was busy cooking in the kitchen, and the fragrance of the dishes floated out from time to time. Hilla looked at the quiet courtyard in front of her. She knew that Halle was feeling very terrible today.

"Hilla!"

A male voice came from not far away, and before she could respond, a fierce dog barked.

Lucky and Candy had never been polite to strangers who came from outside. If not for Halle taking Emily out to buy daily necessities today, no one would dare to enter this courtyard.

Hilla raised her head and saw that not far away, Horton was standing outside the door. He seemed to be anxious, but he had no way to deal with the two dogs inside the door.

No one knew that Horton was afraid of dogs since childhood.

Not to mention that Lucky and Candy looked fierce!

Seeing that Stella was about to open the door, Hilla stopped Stella and walked over slowly.

Standing at the door, Hilla was not in a hurry to open the door. Instead, she frowned at Horton who wanted to enter but couldn’t. She said, "Why are you here? Here seems to be not on the way to the hospital in River City."

Hilla was still angry, and when she thought of Halle’s experience today, she felt particularly distressed.

Although Hilla knew that Horton didn’t know Emily’s identity and she shouldn’t vent her anger on him, Hilla couldn’t help but be angry when she thought he was Emily’s father!

...

When Horton saw Hilla, there seemed to be a flash of light in his eyes. Seeing Hilla, he hurriedly said, "Have you found Emily?"

Hilla was angry with Horton, but her attitude had softened after hearing that. Hilla slowly nodded and said, "She has fallen asleep."

Horton heaved a sigh of relief and looked up at Hilla again. He said hesitantly, "How is Halle?"

When he talked with Hilla on the phone, he found Hilla was panicked. Halle, as Emily’s mother, must be very scared and panicked at that time.

Horton frowned and looked at the lit wooden house not far away. He was worried about Halle.

At this time, even if Emily was found, Halle would probably not be in a good mood because of lingering fear.

"Emily was suddenly taken away. Halle can’t accept it for a while. You know that she values Emily more than anything."

Looking at Horton, although she knew Horton knew nothing, she couldn’t help but say.

"If someone wants to take Emily away from Halle, she will fight against him at all cost. I hope this kind of thing will never happen again in the future."

Hilla said with a serious face, which made Horton slightly surprised. Why did he feel like Hilla was warning him?

Horton nodded and said, "Halle loves Emily more than her own life."

Perhaps people who had never been a mother would not understand. As long as one gave birth to a baby, she would know how important a baby was to a mother.

"Since Halle is fine, then I..."

Horton was about to go back. He hurriedly drove from River City to the countryside, but he wasn’t allowed to enter the door. Horton already knew that he was not welcomed.

In the distance, Stella told Hilla to have dinner. It seemed that Halle also came out of the room with Emily in her arms.

Emily took a nap for half a day, looking very energetic. Standing at the gate of the courtyard, Hilla heard Emily’s babble.

The studio that had been quiet for an entire afternoon finally began to come alive because of Emily.

Hilla turned to look at Horton, who was still standing outside the door, and said hesitantly, "If you don’t mind, you can have dinner here before you go back."

"Alright!"

Horton agreed so readily, and she suspected that he was waiting for her invitation all the time.

She regretted it a little.

On the dining table.

When Hilla brought Horton in, Hilla felt Halle’s eyes full of warning and dissatisfaction. She immediately lowered her head with a guilty conscience.

She did not expect that Horton would agree to have dinner here.

Moreover, Horton drove a long time and came here. She couldn’t drive him away so late at night. No matter what, they were friends.

"Hilla, you were in such a hurry to come here. Did you tell Bruce about it?"

Horton also seemed to feel Halle’s dissatisfaction, and he had not dared to take the initiative to talk to Halle since he came here.

However, only a few people sat here having dinner. The assistant and Maritza had dinner somewhere else. It seemed awkward if he didn’t say anything.

Hilla also felt that the atmosphere was abnormal, but she didn’t really want to talk to Horton. After all, Halle glared at her with burning eyes now.

"Yes, I told him!"

"Are you going back to River City tonight? We can go together."

Horton felt dizzy. Halle sat opposite him, and Emily sat next to him. Emily also stretched out her hand to him from time to time.

But with Halle here, Horton would be glared at even if he wanted to glance at Emily more.

"No, I won’t go back tonight!" Hilla glanced at Halle and found that Halle was also looking at her.

Halle did not tell her about what happened today, nor did she tell her who took Emily away. However, she was very worried, so she did not want to return to River City.

Halle said, "Go back. I’m fine. This kind of thing will not happen again later." She would not let Emily leave her sight again.

Hilla still wanted to say something, but when she saw Halle’s stern face, she was immediately silent.

As long as Halle did not agree, even if she stayed here, Halle would be silent like this afternoon.

Hilla did not want to force Halle, so she could only nod and agree to go back to River City with Horton.

Originally, she could stay for a night, but in the end, she followed Horton back.

When she returned to the Lakeshore Center, it was already very late. When she entered the house, she found that Bruce had not returned.

She was very tired and took a shower, then threw herself onto the bed.

On the way home, she chatted with Horton for a while. Fortunately, Horton did not know Emily’s identity, but he sounded very concerned about Emily.

Hilla felt a little awkward. Lying on the bed, she couldn’t fall asleep, so she sent a message to Bruce, "I’m back!"

This time, Bruce called her soon.

However, Hilla could tell that there were still many people around Bruce who were discussing something.

"You’re back. Are you tired?"

Bruce’s voice was a bit hoarse, but it still carried a unique gentleness.

Lying on the bed, Hilla unconsciously drew circles on the pillow with her fingertips, saying, "Haven’t you finished your meeting yet?"

Was he having a meeting all afternoon? It seemed that the Anderson Group had been very busy recently, and Bruce’s voice was hoarse.

Although the surroundings were quieter, Hilla could still feel that people around him were busy.

"I’ll go home soon!"

Bruce said in a low voice. Although his voice was not loud, the management and shareholders behind him still heard it.

Everyone secretly glanced at him and thought, "Are you joking? You just said that if we can’t come up with a solution, we don’t have to go back tonight!"

Bruce had a cold expression, but his voice was exceptionally gentle.

Sure enough, he was hard on them, but he was gentle to his wife.

As his subordinates, they did not deserve Bruce’s gentleness.

Hilla bit her lips. Listening to Bruce’s deep voice, her face turned slightly red and she whispered, "Then I will wait for you to come back."

After hanging up the phone, Hilla turned over on the bed and suddenly felt much better.

Sure enough, love was the best way to get rid of unhappiness.

Hilla smiled and began to browse on Twitter to kill time. Soon, she saw a message.

In a Youth Competition that had just been held in River City, there was a fashion design show, and a dark blue cheongsam attracted all of Hilla’s attention.

The embroidered pattern of the cheongsam and the skills used were the same as the Holt family. The cheongsam won first place. The designer was a newly graduated female college student.

Hilla didn’t know this female college student, but she knew that this matter was definitely related to Queeney!

It was because she had stopped Julian from giving the development right of the Cloud Garden to the Richards Group. Queeney took action so quickly.
