Chapter 208: She Is the Cannon Fodder
When Hilla packed up her things and prepared to return to River City, Emily pulled her hand.
Hilla lowered her head and looked at the little innocent girl.
Her skin was white and tender. There was a hint of pink on her chubby face. She looked very cute.
Hilla’s heart softened. She squatted down and looked at Emily in front of her, saying, "What’s wrong with you? Do you want to eat something delicious?"
"Hilla."
Emily showed a few rabbit teeth. Her white teeth and pink lips made her looked very beautiful and adorable.
Hilla was stunned. The next second, she said happily, "Emily, you call me!
"Say it again. I want to hear."
"Hilla, hug!"
Although Emily was inarticulate, Hilla knew she was calling her.
Emily couldn’t speak until very late. She called Halle "mom" more often.
Emily was very obedient and liked to play by herself, so except for Halle, she rarely asked someone to hug her.
"Alright!"
Hilla picked up Emily excitedly and held it in her arms, smelling her smell of milk.
She excitedly ran to Halle. "Halle, Emily called me."
Hilla shouted excitedly like a child. Emily, who was in her arms, had been staring at her. Seeing Hilla smile, Emily also laughed.
Emily’s small chubby arms were tightly around Hilla’s neck.
Hilla had only been back in the country for more than a month and had little contact with Emily. She had only seen her in the video. Emily didn’t know her at all then. At most, she felt that Hilla was not a stranger.
After returning to the country, Hilla had been busy with the work studio, and she had no time to look after Emily.
She did not expect the blood kinship was so amazing.
Maritza, who took care of Emily for days, could not help but be surprised. She had taken care of Emily since Emily was very young, but Emily had never taken the initiative to be so close to her.
She said with a smile, "The blood kinship is so amazing. Emily likes you very much."
Hilla smiled a little embarrassedly. She didn’t spend much time with Emily, let alone take the initiative to play with her.
"Emily saw that you are leaving. She doesn’t want you to leave!"
Stella smiled brightly. She played with Emily the most, but Emily had never asked her to hug her.
Thinking about that, she felt a bit sad and jealous.
"Halle, you haven’t been back to River City for a long time. Why don’t you take Emily this time...?"
Before Hilla could finish her words, Halle interrupted her coldly, "There are many things to do in the studio. Some orders still need to be made. Carlie’s dress is finished. Hurry up and go back!"
Hilla didn’t know what to say. It seemed that Halle was going to drive her away immediately.
Hilla felt embarrassed. She knew why Halle was unwilling to go back to River City.
However, she meant no offense. She just wanted to take them back to River City for two days.
After all, it had been more than a year since Halle returned to the country. "I just want to take Emily to the amusement park. I mean no offense." Hilla muttered, and Halle’s expression eased a little.
Although there was no shortage of food and use in the countryside, it was not as good as the city in some aspects.
There were no amusement parks, no KFC. Many children in the countryside even had never seen the things in the city.
There was a small village activity center next to the village, which was the children’s favorite place. But the facilities there were for adults, and there were very few things that children could play.
"Emily is still young. It’s fine if she doesn’t go to the amusement park."
Halle interrupted and rejected.
"Alright," Hilla answered, not daring to argue with Halle.
She understood why Halle rejected returning to River City so much. Ever since she met the Hutts, she felt that Halle was right not to tell them something about Emily.
The Hutt family was like a hell. The demons and devils lived in it, all of them having their motives.
Hilla knew that Horton must have had a hard time in the Hutt family. He couldn’t protect Halle and Emily.
How could one who couldn’t even protect himself at home protect his wife and
daughter?
Fortunately, Halle was much calmer than her at that time. She didn’t bring Emily there thinking about giving Emily a home.
Halle had had a hard time in the Tyson family. Now, Halle had Emily and cared for her so much. The Hutt family was not suitable for them to live in.
Halle wanted a peaceful and quiet life to bring Emily up safely.
As the son of the Hutt family, Horton could not guarantee their safety.
Although Horton was an illegitimate child who could break away from the Hutt family, the Hutts did not want to give up him because of his relationship with the Anderson family. They valued Horton particularly.
Halle got a divorce and the Hutts looked down on her. Halle lived a happier life living peacefully in the countryside with Emily.
Hilla packed up her things and prepared to go back to River City. Just as she got into the car, she saw Emily in Halle’s arms reaching out to her. She was still calling, "Halle, hug!"
Hilla smiled and suddenly didn’t want to leave.
If she and Halle could take care of their children and live together forever, it would be a very happy thing.
Looking at the cute Emily, Hilla became more and more jealous of Halle.
She and Bruce had been married for two years. Although they had been separated for a year, after she came back home, she was still not pregnant.
Why was it so difficult for her to have a child?
She now had an urge to ask Halle what method she used to have Emily.
However, it was too embarrassing. She flushed and then held back.
She comforted herself that she was still young and Bruce was strong enough. They would have children sooner or later.
When the car drove a distance away, Hilla saw that Halle was still standing outside the door and Emily was still stretching towards her.
Emily suddenly clung to her so much. Hilla didn’t want to leave even more.
However, she did have work in River City. She had to find Carlie to try it on. The details would probably need some changes.
Hilla didn’t return to the Lakeshore Center, but called Carlie and made an arrangement with her.
Carlie was filming. She could have changed the time, but when she thought of the design, she couldn’t help but invite Hilla to the theater.
As soon as Hilla arrived, she was suddenly pulled over by someone. "Why are you so
late? It wasn’t easy to get this for you. No directors would find you in the future if you don’t care."
Hilla was pulled to a dressing room, and someone immediately came over and pushed her to the seat.
Before she could speak, she was dressed as a maid!
...
She suddenly couldn’t recognize herself in the mirror who had been dressed up as a maid in an ancient dress.
Was she being treated as an extra actress?
The makeup artist looked at the maid in the mirror and was stunned for a moment.
Then, he frowned and covered the red mole under her eyes with the foundation.
After that, he still frowned.
Hilla thought, "Am I so ugly?
"Do you recognize..."
"Wait a minute!"
Before she could finish, the makeup artist rushed out of the dressing room.
Hilla sat in front of the mirror in a daze, holding the case in her arms. Looking at herself who had been dressed like this, she frowned. "If I left like this, I couldn’t see anyone," She thought.
However, she did not see Carlie when she came. She called Carlie’s assistant but did not get through. She only had two calls, and one was Carlie’s.
After hesitating for a while, she took out her phone and dialed it.
The phone rang for a while and someone finally picked up. It was not Carlie, but her assistant.
"I’ve brought Miss Adams’s dress over. Would it be convenient for her to try it on?"
The assistant was silent for a second. "She just started filming. I’m afraid you have to wait for a while."
"Okay. I will wait for her."
It was said that this is a national drama with a famous IP and many investments. Carlie was the female lead. At next week’s red carpet show, she was going to advertise this new drama.
She had a lot of scenes and Carlie had always stayed in the hotel. Hilla understood these very well, so she did not feel unhappy.
"Ms. Holt, are you here? I’ll pick you up," The assistant said politely.
Hilla answered and was about to say where she was when the door of the dressing room opened.
Because this was the makeup room for small roles, it was not private. Many people were here, but there were only several makeup artists.
When Hilla was pulled in, many people looked in her direction.
Hilla looked in the direction of the voice and saw the makeup artist pull two people over to her. He pointed at her and said, "Deputy Director, look, it’s her."
Hilla thought, "What’s that? I don’t want to pretend to be anyone. You pull me here!"
Hilla opened her mouth, wondering if she should explain. She didn’t expect that before she spoke, the makeup artist said helplessly, "Look at her. What do you want me to do?"
Hilla thought, "What’s the matter? Am I ugly?"
It shouldn’t be. Although she wasn’t extraordinary beautiful in the world, she was also famous for being beautiful in River City.
Being questioned about her looks, Hilla was stunned and speechless.
For the first time, she had been considered ugly by others.
The man who was called the deputy director was not tall, and he was also very thin.
He looked at Hilla in surprise.
"Who found her? What happened?"
Hearing the deputy director’s voice, the people in the dressing room turned to look at him. Someone was very busy. They had to dress up and wait for some big shots. Someone was relatively idle. They were just waiting to film one scene in one day and turned their eyes to look at the show.
"Director, I think you have recognized the wrong person."
Hilla managed to explain.
The deputy director was stunned. "Aren’t you an actor here?"
Hilla shook her head. "I’m a designer. I’m here to give clothes to someone."
Hilla didn’t mention Carlie. She didn’t want to bring trouble to others, so she explained simply.
The deputy director was stunned again and looked at the makeup artist. "What happened to you? I was just wondering why a little maid could be so beautiful."
He even wanted to change a female role just now.
Hilla was too eye-catching. Even if she was dressed like a maid, she was eye - catching when she stood behind others. Compared to her, that female actor even looked a little ugly.
"Aren’t you an extra actor?" The makeup artist was stunned. Who told him that she acted as a maid? Wasn’t his efforts wasted?
Hilla shook her head. "No!"
She came to deliver clothes. Did she look like an actor?
"Alright, hurry up and find someone else. Don’t delay. Remove her makeup."
The deputy director gave the order. Before leaving, he turned back to look at Hilla.
Hilla was pulled in by someone in a hurry and thrown out by someone in a hurry too.
Standing outside the dressing room, Hilla had to call Carlie’s assistant while holding the case in her hand.
The assistant came very quickly. He smiled friendly when he saw Hilla.
"Miss Adams said yesterday that she didn’t know if you can finish the clothes today. You are so fast."
Hilla smiled and said humbly, "This is what I should do. I promised Miss Adams back then. I cannot go back on my words."
She was worried that her design would not be acceptable, so she was in such a hurry.
"Miss Adams has two more scenes. Please wait with me for a while. It shouldn’t be very late."
Carlie was the female lead, and her popularity was at its peak. The crew didn’t dare to make things difficult for her, so her scenes were always in the front. As long as she performed normally, she would pass the scenes very quickly.
After Hilla chatted with the assistant for two hours, Carlie returned.
It was very fast for them.
When Carlie saw Hilla, she had a faint smile. Her gaze fell on the exquisite case in her hand, and her eyes flashed slightly.
"I’ll come over after removing my makeup. Could you follow me to the hotel?" Hilla nodded. This was indeed not a good place to try clothes here.
Hilla was about to follow Carlie out of the theater when she saw a man walking towards her. Hilla knew him. He was the deputy director who had just been pulled over by the makeup artist.
"Deputy Director, what’s the matter?"
When Carlie saw him, she was not arrogant at all as a movie queen. She was very polite. It was no wonder that although she was a famous aloof beauty, she had no negative news for many years.
The deputy director looked at Hilla, who was beside Carlie, and said, "Carlie, is this your person?"
Carlie shook her head. "Ms. Holt is the designer I hired."
Hilla didn’t expect Carlie to introduce her so frankly. Some famous stars were unwilling to use an unknown designer like her.
After all, stars represented fashion, premium, and brand!
"I see." The deputy director looked at Hilla and said, "Ms. Holt, a female actor can’t
come. Can you take her place? She just has several scenes."
To put it simply, she was the cannon fodder.
However, this role was a famous beauty in the film. The director was also very worried about where he could find the beauty in a short time. There was no other way.
He didn’t expect to see Hilla.
She was dressed as a maid but she was more beautiful than a miss. She was indeed a beauty.
