Roma fans held their heads in disbelief.
"This guy is a monster!"
"Even Ferrari can't stop him?"
"He can get off such a high-quality shot under that kind of pressure?"
"That shooting technique—it's freakish!"
The Roma fans couldn't help but marvel.
Even as opponents, they had to admit — Suker's shot was nothing short of otherworldly.
Not even holding him back could stop it!How do you defend against that?!
"I swear, I really gave it my all trying to stop him!"
Ferrari shouted loudly.
Seeing the doubtful looks from his teammates, he added urgently:
"I'm not throwing the game! Seriously!"
After all, there had been a match-fixing scandal last season. At such a sensitive time, a goal like Suker's — executed under heavy pressure — was almost too much to believe.
"Enough! Don't dwell on that — we need to equalize!"
Totti walked over and said firmly.
Rather than doubting their teammate, they needed to focus on getting back in the game.
On the other side, Suker walked toward the halfway line surrounded by his teammates.
Maldini threw an arm around Suker's shoulder, his face lit up with a wide smile.
"You're getting scarier by the day—scoring under that kind of pressure."
Maldini was in awe.
He felt blessed. In his prime, he had led his team to endless glory. Now, at the end of his career, he was playing alongside a red-hot Suker.
"I just got lucky," Suker scratched his head.
"No need to be modest at a time like this," Maldini replied with a grin.
"Am I a modest person?" Suker asked.
Maldini froze.
Right!
This guy wasn't modest in the slightest.
If he really had meant to pull off that shot under pressure, he would've already been shouting:
"I'm a freaking genius!"
So yeah—Suker really did get lucky.
He'd been so focused on the physical battle, he hadn't even looked up at the goal.He just swung his leg instinctively toward the general direction of the net, not even sure where he was aiming. It was supposed to be just a hopeful attempt — but to his surprise, it went in.
On the sideline, Coach Ancelotti stared at the field in disbelief.
"Suker's form… is it too good right now?"
European qualifiers, Champions League, Serie A — three different types of matches.
Yet Suker had only gotten better.
That goal was proof.
It might've looked like luck, but to execute that kind of finish required an incredible sense for goal.
Anyone else would've struggled just to hold their ground, let alone get a shot on target.
With AC Milan scoring, Roma restarted the match.
Play resumed.
"Roma, after conceding, aren't rushing blindly. They're shoring up defense while gradually pushing their attack forward, looking for opportunities through Totti's playmaking!"
"But AC Milan's defense remains rock solid. Maldini, now playing mostly as a center back this season, continues to do his job flawlessly and offers a crucial backbone for the back line!"
Under pressure from Gattuso, Totti immediately switched the ball wide.
De Rossi tried to switch play but was quickly closed down by Seedorf.
Seedorf wasn't Pirlo — he pressed far more aggressively.
But De Rossi wasn't a pushover either. The two clashed and both went down.
"Ref calls a foul—Seedorf pulled De Rossi down. Free kick for Roma in an advanced position. Totti will take it!"
Totti surveyed Milan's goalkeeper Dida and calculated his plan.
The whistle blew — and instead of a powerful strike, Totti subtly chipped the ball.
"Aerial duel!!"
Maldini immediately read the play.
Totti's chipped pass landed in the box, and De Rossi beat Nesta to the spot — leaping first and heading toward goal.
"De Rossi's header—Dida saves it with an outstretched arm! But danger's not over! Taddei with the shot—Ohhh! Maldini blocks it with his chest! The ball's still in the box—chaos continues! Can Roma capitalize?!"
A mad scramble erupted inside Milan's penalty area.
At the center circle, Suker was ready to spring a counterattack. He craned his neck, watching nervously.
"Hold them off!!"Suker shouted.
Just then — a booming shout, and the ball rocketed out of the box.
Suker caught a glimpse — it was Gattuso who cleared it.
He ran toward the landing spot and trapped the ball with precision.
Instead of charging at the defense, he paused momentarily.
When Brocchi and Kaká began their runs from the wings, Suker finally laid it off to Kaká and bolted forward.
"AC Milan counterattack! Kaká drives the ball forward, Suker sprints into the space between Ferrari and Chivu."
"Kaká hasn't passed yet—he keeps pushing forward…"
Suker saw that Chivu was still tightly marking him.
"So stubborn?"
He was exasperated.
"Kaká! Just do it yourself!"
With both defenders glued to Suker, Kaká suddenly cut sideways into the space Suker had created. He entered the box and fired.
BOOM!The ball hurtled toward the far corner.
Roma's keeper lunged and managed to get a fingertip on it.
"DONI! Incredible save!"
Commentator Aldo Serena shouted in excitement.
Roma's keeper Doni had made a brilliant, last-ditch stop.
But he wasn't getting up.
"Hey! He's hurt!"Suker called out to the referee.
Roma players quickly gathered around.
Doni clutched his hand, drenched in cold sweat from the pain.
Even without the team doctor, they could tell — his finger was broken, bent grotesquely backward.
Doni was helped off and taken away by ambulance for surgery.
In Europe, they don't just snap it back like a Chinese bonesetter — it usually means surgery.
"Doni injured during the save. Roma forced to make a substitution — backup keeper Curci enters."
"A tough blow for Roma. Already trailing, now they've lost their starting goalkeeper."
Aldo Serena shook his head.
Whenever Roma played AC Milan, it seemed like disaster always struck.
Was Milan really that intimidating?
More than just intimidating — they were overwhelming.
Curci stood in goal for Roma, facing the AC Milan players in white away kits.He was drenched in nervous sweat.
As a long-time backup, Curci had only made 20 appearances across two seasons.
Sure, he had ambitions of becoming first-choice, but he really hadn't wanted his debut this season to come against AC Milan!
"A man's fate is like a tree's shadow."
In Serie A, AC Milan was synonymous with dominance.
Even with their current reduced firepower, for Curci, the pressure was immense.
"Don't get nervous. Feed me intel. I can't keep eyes on Suker at all times,"
Ferrari reminded him.
Curci nodded, but he still looked shaken.
"Suker's making an early run!"
"He's shifting sideways—someone pick him up!"
"Ferrari! Watch your back, Suker's about to burst forward!"
"Push the line up! Push it up!"
Curci was like a radar, constantly feeding updates to Ferrari.
"Nice work!"Ferrari turned and praised him.
That made Curci beam. He felt his nerves start to ease, and his confidence rise.
Suker also glanced over at the chatterbox in goal.
"Focusing so much on one player… not necessarily a good thing."He murmured.
Just then — Ferrari shouted:
"Look out!!"
Curci's eyes darted away from Suker.
He saw the ball streaking toward him like a comet.
Whoosh!It slammed into the net.
"WORLDIE! Kaká with a brilliant long-range strike! That came out of nowhere—Curci didn't even react before it was in the net!"
"AC Milan double their lead in the 39th minute thanks to Kaká's strike!"
"Milan up 2–0!"
"Roma's situation is going from bad to worse."
"They've lost their starting keeper, are down two goals, and only have two subs left!"
"Roma fans can only pray that Totti, The Eighth King of Rome, steps up and leads a comeback!"
