Chapter 1529: Chapter 1529: Something’s Not Right

The news that the Stan brothers were consecutively murdered quickly spread across the ship.

Everyone was abuzz with speculation, and it was evident to anyone with a discerning eye that the killer was seeking revenge.

But for what revenge? No one knew, nor could they guess, because the Stan brothers had offended too many people.

The remaining cousin, Gene, was terrified that he might be the killer’s next target, so he gathered all the bodyguards on this deck.

In the elevator, emergency exits, both sides of the hallway, inside and outside the guest rooms, balcony doors and windows… virtually every place was guarded, and even going to the restroom, he had bodyguards accompanying him.

Alexander Summers was analyzing Gene with Purple Summers and Cherry—

“When people talk about the Stan brothers, they usually think of three people. But in fact, Gene’s last name isn’t Stan; he’s just a distant cousin. There are many such relatives. So why were the Stan brothers particularly close to Gene? Why was he the one they treated as a brother?”

Cherry asked, “Because their parents got along well?”

“Wrong.”

“Because they grew up together?”

“Wrong again.”

Purple Summers held her forehead, “Can you stop keeping us in suspense and just give us the conclusion?”

Alexander Summers said, “Many people wanted to get close to the Stan brothers, but only the cousin Gene could truly win their favor. Whatever the three did together—eating or playing—most ideas came from Gene. To secure his position, Gene would rack his brains, constantly coming up with new ideas, and would present anything novel to the Stan brothers immediately. In short, Gene is very smart and aware of the times, but he actually holds no real status within the Stan family.”

After a pause, he added, “Even if Gene escapes the assassin, he’ll face severe punishment from the Stan family when he returns.”

Gavin Graves nodded in agreement with Alexander Summers’ assessment, “Three people set out on a journey, and only one returns; the Stan family will surely vent their anger on him. This time, even the accompanying bodyguards will be in big trouble. I bet he knows very well that no matter what, he cannot escape death.”

“No wonder he’s so desperate to find the killer…” Cherry muttered.

“In this situation, he surely won’t sit still,” Purple Summers furrowed her brows, looking worried. “Even finding a scapegoat would be better than taking the blame himself. He might be thinking of ways to deal with us right now.”

Cherry tugged on Gavin’s sleeve, “When will this ship dock? I don’t want to stay here any longer; it’s so boring.”

“Tomorrow.” Gavin Graves held her hand, soothingly whispering, “We’ll be able to disembark at ten in the morning.”

Cherry quietly leaned against his shoulder, sulking.

Purple Summers glanced at the two, then softly asked Alexander Summers, “After the incident with the Stan brothers, where are their men now?”

“Right now?” Alexander Summers replied, “Gene is so afraid of dying that he’s summoned everyone to this deck. He’s surrounded by bodyguards even while eating and going to the restroom.”

“If everyone is protecting him, then is the room where the Stan brothers stayed unguarded?” Purple Summers asked.

Alexander Summers was slightly taken aback, “It should be unguarded; what do you want to do?”

“I want to go take a look,” Purple Summers frowned, saying, “There are a few places… something just feels off.”

Cherry glanced at her, pursed her lips without saying a word, and continued to cling quietly to Gavin’s arm, unusually composed.

Normally, she loved being part of the action.

Alexander Summers and Purple Summers left the room and called over the manager responsible for this deck’s guest rooms, requesting to open the door to the Stan brothers’ room.

Logically, this was against the rules.

But with the Stan family tightly guarding this deck and allowing no movement in and out, rules were already being breached. Furthermore, since Purple Summers wanted to enter for the purpose of investigating clues, the room manager, after hesitating several times, finally opened the door for them—
