Chapter 1574: 1574: Help

Chapter 1574: Chapter 1574: Help

Everything was ready. Aria Jackson put on the hood of her protective suit, zipped up the sealed zipper, and adjusted the filtration breathing apparatus at her mouth and nose.

Cherry and Gavin Graves watched on the side, looking amused.

Originally, they had planned to go home, but Aria insisted Cherry stay just in case of an emergency, figuring that Cherry might be the only one able to lend a hand. Naturally, Aria couldn’t let her shirk work.

Cherry said to Gavin, “Earlier, Aria said something about mutants, giggle giggle…”

The joke seemed pretty random…

“If she reported directly about a witch’s curse to her superiors, she’d probably be dismissed immediately,” Gavin said flatly. “Besides, calling it a mutation isn’t wrong. It indeed caused some sort of infection, making Moissanite’s body mutate.”

At that moment, another group of people passed in front of them.

They were carrying metal boxes, placing them steadily in front of Aria for inspection.

Inside were bombs, appearing small and delicate, with a hexagonal bump on one side and a flat side with a locking claw. They were neatly arranged in the box, eight in total.

Aria picked up the box and instructed the team to bring tools and weapons, ready to depart.

Just then, a woman’s cry for help suddenly came from inside the building.

Everyone froze for a moment.

Aria, wearing a protective suit, couldn’t hear the outside clearly but seeing the changing expressions on the faces around her, she stopped immediately and took off her hood—

“Help! … Help me!!! …”

It was Ruth Frazer’s voice.

Aria looked at Gavin and Cherry in shock.

Gavin nodded solemnly, “It’s her voice.”

“But isn’t she dead?” Cherry said fearfully, clutching Gavin’s arm.

The three of them exchanged glances. For the first time, the usually decisive Aria hesitated, “Actually… we didn’t see her die with our own eyes, right? We just saw her being dragged away…”

“Help! … Ah… someone help me… please help…”

After Ruth’s cries for help, there were more cries from other people, one after another, clearly and continuously!

“What’s going on?” Aria’s face turned pale, “Were there other survivors inside at that time?”

Cherry and Gavin looked at each other and both shook their heads.

“Those bodies were all piled together then, it was impossible to see clearly,” Cherry sighed.

Gavin asked her, “Is there any chance someone could survive after being drained by that thing?”

Cherry pondered with difficulty and said, “It’s possible… like if it was full, maybe it would save its prey for later, but… could it really store so many people?”

There were at least five or six people crying for help.

“We have to go in sooner or later. Let’s go up and see what’s going on,” Aria nodded to someone nearby, “Get a protective suit that she can wear.”

Cherry pointed at herself, “I’m going too?”

“If you don’t go, how can I handle it?” Aria patted her shoulder, “I’ll give you a pennant once it’s done, alright?”

Cherry’s face scrunched up as if she had eaten bitter melon.

“But that thing is so disgusting…” She didn’t want to go.

Gavin thought for a moment and said, “I’ll go in with her.”

“No, Master Graves, you don’t need to join the fun,” Aria shook her head and refused, “Otherwise, we’d have to divert someone to take care of you.”

Gavin had some skills, but he definitely couldn’t compare to professional SWAT officers.

Aria added, “Don’t worry, if things don’t look right, we’ll retreat, we won’t be acting like heroes.”

Thus decided, Aria helped Cherry put on the protective suit, then put on an earpiece and radio.

All these things were novel to Cherry, and she forgot how reluctant she was initially. Happily, she followed Aria inside—
