Capítulo 1557: Chapter 1557: Entangled in Mundane Affairs
“Actually, it’s fine…” Ruth Frazer explained with a smile, “The air in the mountains is good, not so much dust, the servant usually cleans only once every two or three days… Also, my husband isn’t here, so it’s just me living alone. Simple meals are enough, so we don’t need too many servants.”
She continued walking a few steps forward and opened a door, “Rest here, I’ll have the servant bring some hot drinks over.”
After saying this, she smiled at Cherry and left the room.
Once Ruth had gone, Gavin Graves opened the window, letting fresh air flow inside.
“Still feeling uncomfortable?” He touched Cherry’s forehead, it wasn’t hot, and her face was somewhat rosy, but her brows remained furrowed, clearly feeling unwell.
Cherry sat on the edge of the bed, her forehead nudging against Gavin Graves’ palm, softly whining, “Uncomfortable… the smell is everywhere, it’s so greasy, I feel like vomiting.”
Gavin asked, “The octopus smell?”
Cherry nodded.
“Didn’t you eat it before?” Gavin teased her with a smile, “How come you find it disgusting now?”
“Used to be like eating grilled skewers.” Cherry patted her chest, expressing her complex feelings, “But now, it feels like I’m falling into the grilled meat, even breathing is oily, greasy…”
“Okay, stop describing it.” Gavin couldn’t help but laugh, “The more you talk, the grosser it gets. Think of something else, distract yourself.”
“I can’t think of anything.” Cherry pouted, “Why don’t you kiss me, maybe I can think of something else.”
Gavin tapped her lightly, “Don’t think about that! Think of something healthy!”
Cherry tilted her head and thought for a moment, “Green exercise with no pollution, seems pretty healthy…”
Gavin laughed and ruffled her hair.
The two chatted in the room for a while, then a servant came in with tea and pastries.
Gavin couldn’t stay in the room too long; visiting someone’s home as a guest, he had to socialize outside to be proper. He instructed Cherry to rest obediently, then left the room and went to the front living room.
Ruth Frazer was very skilled at maintaining the atmosphere. She was the kind of hostess who could easily ensure everyone was happy, it’s a talent. But in Ruth’s talent, there’s too much ambition, so Gavin always remained indifferent towards her, unable to grow fond of her.
For example, the guests she invited today were undoubtedly people who could help her re-enter the art industry.
After marriage, she was overshadowed by Moissanite’s fame, everyone referred to her as Mrs. Moissanite, which caused the name Ruth Frazer to gradually fade in the art industry. Even now, she desperately needed the acknowledgment and introduction from insiders for her new works.
Of course, the best person to introduce her would be Moissanite.
Ruth Frazer might be looking far and wide for this introduction, it could be the marriage is in trouble, or… Moissanite is in trouble.
After chatting for a while in the living room, Ruth Frazer led them on a tour of the art studio.
They walked along the same corridor as earlier, taking time to admire the artworks on the walls.
At the end of the corridor was a door, which opened onto a wooden bridge, approximately thirty meters long, connecting to a pointed-roof cottage built among rocks and trees.
Ruth Frazer walked ahead, smiling as she explained to the guests behind her, “Moissanite insisted on separating the studio from the living quarters, feeling that this place is tranquil, and said the works shouldn’t get sullied with domesticity.”
A guest agreed, “Indeed, entangled in daily chores, people become mundane, how can you do art creation then?”
Ruth Frazer pursed her lips, her smile fading slightly.
