Chapter 1505: Chapter 1509: Ye Xiaobei, You Prefer Punishment Over a Toast, Don’t You?
Sometimes, when I come over to surprise you, I deliberately don’t knock.
Gu Junzhu pressed the intercom: "A glass of strawberry juice."
Ye Xingbei walked over and leaned on his desk. "I heard from Xiao Chi that the police approached you. You agreed to help Yu Hua divorce that scumbag, pay off her debts, and even buy a house for her parents in some picturesque area?"
"That’s right," Gu Junzhu replied. "Ah Jing personally called me. I have to give him some face. Yu Hua dying doesn’t matter to us, but she’s got her daughter involved. If anything happens to that child, the cops handling the case would be torn apart by the public."
"Yu Hua is really ruthless," Ye Xingbei sneered. "That’s her own daughter, and yet she can bear it!"
"She never planned to die or harm her daughter," Gu Junzhu said. "Her daughter is merely her bargaining chip to threaten Yu Mo."
"I still feel this doesn’t align with our Fifth Master’s style," Ye Xingbei scrutinized him from head to toe. "Our Fifth Master isn’t someone who compromises with lowlifes so easily! The fact that you agreed to help Yu Hua so smoothly—you’re really blowing my mind here."
"Yu Hua is, at most, just a sewer rat. Hardly qualifies as a significant threat," Gu Junzhu took Ye Xingbei’s hand and patted his leg.
Ye Xingbei shook her head and laughed coyly. "No way, the secretary will be in soon with the juice."
"She used her daughter’s life to threaten the police. She even dangled her daughter outside the building multiple times, putting the child’s life in real danger," Gu Junzhu stated. "Once the police rescue her daughter, they’ll immediately arrest Yu Hua. She’ll be sentenced to prison and finally get a taste of what Yu Mo went through when he was incarcerated. Even if I buy her parents a house, she won’t get to stay there anytime soon."
"Oh!" Ye Xingbei suddenly understood. "So that’s why! You had it all planned out? Is that why you agreed to her demands?"
Gu Junzhu nodded. "Of course."
Otherwise, why would he have offered a counter so readily?
He delayed responding to force Yu Hua into making an extreme move.
If Yu Hua had merely stayed on the rooftop with her child, it wouldn’t have been enough to convict her.
When Ning Huaijing called him and mentioned Yu Hua was using the baby in her arms to threaten the police—claiming she’d drop the child if Yu Mo didn’t show up—he understood: it was time to act.
Father Yu and Mother Yu’s issues, after all, needed resolution.
Otherwise, while they might not cause major harm, they’d still buzz around like annoying flies, "buzz buzz buzzing," always circling and irritating you, right?
Letting Yu Hua experience prison life like Yu Mo once did is perfect.
Besides, God lent a helping hand.
He received word that Yu Mo’s mother suffered a stroke and was already hospitalized. The situation didn’t look optimistic—she would likely end up partially paralyzed at the very least.
With one imprisoned and another immobilized, leaving only Father Yu, things would be much easier to handle.
The door was knocked on.
The secretary came in with the juice.
Ye Xingbei took the juice.
The secretary bowed to the two of them and then stepped out.
Gu Junzhu reached out toward Ye Xingbei again.
Ye Xingbei held the juice cup, smiled, and shook her head at him, but he seized her wrist and pulled her directly into his embrace. He kissed her fiercely: "Ye Xiaobei, refusing a toast and asking for trouble now, huh?"
Gu Junzhu pressed her onto the desk, thoroughly kissing her before reluctantly letting go.
His fingertips brushed across her luscious lips as he smiled, a lazy yet utterly satisfied grin. "Ye Xiaobei, placing your studio in my office space was one of my wisest decisions!"
