Chapter 1312: Chapter 1283: The Demon King’s Curse

Hope City celebrated the victory of the war, but no one knew that the two most central figures of this war had long since left.

Endless mountains, dense forests.

Perhaps it was because of the existence of the Elf Race in the East of the minor world, or maybe the plants in the East indeed grew somewhat better than those in the West, nearly half of the minor world’s eastern area was occupied by mountains and forests.

And now, deep within a mountainous forest, two people sat quietly beside a cave.

“Boss, you really should have killed me.” Ning Wangyang’s face was somewhat pale, the previous battle had indeed brought him considerable injuries; the two had left the battlefield two days ago, and he still hadn’t fully recovered.

“Do you want another slap?” Li Chen said, tilting his head while sorting the food beside him.

Ning Wangyang closed his mouth; along the way, he had already been slapped by Li Chen several times because of this matter. For a warrior, being injured in battle wouldn’t even make him frown, but being slapped was not a pleasant experience.

Especially the person slapping him, he didn’t even dare to talk back or curse at him.

“You’re still too honest.” Li Chen shook his head, “You’ve been unconscious for so long on the road, couldn’t you continue pretending to be out once you woke up? Must you argue with me, do you think you can talk better than me?”

Ning Wangyang shook his head speechlessly; he felt he could spar with Li Chen in physical combat, but in verbal combat, he had to admit he was several streets behind Li Chen.

“Alright, tell me everything that’s happening to you.” Li Chen nodded and said, “In such a desolate place, nobody should come around, and you can speak freely about anything.”

Hearing Li Chen’s words, Ning Wangyang’s expression showed hesitation.

“What’s wrong? You said it yourself before, oh, after staying here this long, you’ve learned the knack of speaking nonsense too?” Li Chen raised his eyebrows and said.

“No…” Ning Wangyang looked somewhat embarrassed.

“Then cut the nonsense and speak quickly. I’ll prepare some healing medicine for you later; your internal injuries are quite serious, I need to get the medicine ready.” Li Chen waved his hand and said.

Hearing Li Chen’s words, Ning Wangyang felt warmth in his heart.

No matter what happened, no matter what he went through, Li Chen still treated him like a brother.

He could tell that Li Chen’s injuries hadn’t healed either, yet what Li Chen cared about at the moment was him.

“Actually, here’s how it went…” Ning Wangyang nodded and said, “Back in the forest of North America when I rescued Catherine, I was indeed eroded by a curse.”

Li Chen nodded, he knew for sure that Ning Wangyang’s issues had to originate from there.

Because Ning Wangyang’s transformation began after returning from there.

But he couldn’t fathom what kind of curse could transform Ning Wangyang directly into someone of the Demon Race, and additionally, his power surged to a terrifying level in such a short period.

Li Chen knew the difficulties of cultivation well. But up until now, he had only reached the Roar-level of cultivation, yet compared to himself, Ning Wangyang was even one rank higher; this was something he wanted to know how Ning Wangyang achieved.

“At first, I didn’t notice it much either; it was only later that I discovered the curse clinging to me wasn’t a regular Mothman curse.”

Speaking, Ning Wangyang slightly pulled open his collar.

What appeared in Li Chen’s vision were strands of Magic Pattern with black lines. These patterns were quite eerie, seemingly growing on the skin while appearing to penetrate beneath the skin.

“This is the curse of the Demon King,” Ning Wangyang said with difficulty, “Typically, those infected by such a curse can only become puppets of the Demon King. The Mothman in the forest was such a presence.”

“For some reason, I didn’t end up as a puppet of the Demon King; instead, I remained lucid. However, if I were next to the Demon King, as long as he desires, he can still easily control me.” Ning Wangyang shook his head and smiled bitterly, “Often, my thoughts can’t control my actions.”

“Is that so…” Hearing Ning Wangyang’s account, Li Chen couldn’t help but furrow his brow deeply.

If what Ning Wangyang said was true, and the Demon King could control him at will, it wouldn’t be a simple matter.

“Demon King, what level of power?” Li Chen asked.

Just then, a hoarse voice within Ning Wangyang’s body spoke up, “So what if you know, with your power, do you think you can handle the Demon King?”

Li Chen completely ignored that voice, pointing to Ning Wangyang’s chest to question him, “And this thing? What is it?”

“You… insignificant Human Race, you’re courting death!” seeing Li Chen ignoring him and even calling him ‘that thing,’ the hoarse voice couldn’t help but shout sharply.

“Actually, I’m not sure what he is either.” Ning Wangyang shrugged and said, “This guy claims to have once been a puppet controlled by the Demon King, but after his physical body died, he regained clarity and only his soul remains.”

“Although he keeps trying to tempt me into doing something, initially, he did help me resist the curse’s erosion. Otherwise, I might’ve already become an obedient puppet under the Demon King’s control by now.” Ning Wangyang said.

“So that’s how it is.” Li Chen’s brow furrowed, “It seems the Demon King does have some tricks up his sleeve.”

“More than just some tricks? That demon’s power exceeds your expectations by far. Kid, I advise you to face reality; don’t attempt what you shouldn’t!” The hoarse voice sarcastically remarked after hearing Li Chen’s words.

“Then what are your suggestions?” Li Chen raised his head, questioning the voice, “Let Wangyang keep being the Demon King’s pawn until he suddenly drops dead?”

The hoarse voice immediately fell silent.

He indeed had no feasible suggestion.

“Curse, what kind of power is it?” Li Chen mused while stroking his chin, paying no mind to the Demon King but focusing instead on Ning Wangyang’s curse.

His immediate task was to expel the curse afflicting Ning Wangyang rather than plotting against the Demon King.

“However, as long as it’s a form of power, there must be a method to counter it!” Li Chen’s eyes gleamed.
