Chapter 332: Bad Information

"I am in." Jace called out as he moved along the wall of the military base.

They had split up as soon as they arrived at the planet. Jace had taken his armor with an extra shielding attachment and invisibility attachment. His choice of sidearm included both the silenced Pyre and the Magnus Revolver. Then he had a Spectre Knife as well. Next were his main weapons, a Wildfire Assault Rifle and a railgun.

He was completely kitted out in gear. The only change was the grenades and explosives he was carrying. They were designed to deal damage to metal and would leave lasting damage to anything it was close to. The reason for that was because his main job was to sabotage the Titan-Class Mech.

The Titan-Class Mech was about to be deployed to the battlefield and would be a nightmare for their fleet. The reason it had not been deployed before was because it was used to protect the nation. Sending it on an offensive meant exposing their nation to attack. But now they were backed into a corner.

Jace jumped and grabbed the top of the wall and launched himself over. Landing softly on the ground before he began moving again. The security of the base was not on high alert so as he moved he was only looking for various types of sensors. He could even see the patrol that was supposed to be on the lookout was casually taking a smoke break.

He shook his head as he moved to a main throughway that ran through the facility. It had mechs and vehicles moving along it at a snail’s pace. They really should have built two separate roads going each way. One for mechs and one for vehicles.

He moved into one of the buildings looking for a map or digital interface he could use to find the Titan-Class Mech. There was too much electrical energy for him to pick out the Mech’s shape and the giant hangers were far more secure than the rest of the base.

There was not a map inside of the building he slipped into. But it looked like some type of military police outpost. Because there was someone at the counter near the door. As he quietly slipped in he moved further into the back and saw a few soldiers all in the same type of outfit. They all had a marking on their shoulders.

She moved away from the small number of relaxing soldiers and into one of the enclosed offices where there was a digital interface. He woke up the screen and quickly began typing. Finding he was right about this being a military police building.

They had a number of mechs being transferred to a ship that was outside of the city. Jace had actually seen it when they flew over the city before he dropped. It was not as big as a warship but it was still pretty big. It looked like they planned to move the majority of their military forces off the planet. A good way to cripple them would be to destroy that ship. He would tell the others later.

He could already tell that he should not use his communicator inside of the base. It was not as strong as the whisper facility he disabled. But he already could tell from the communication frequencies that there was a snooping program running. It would give away his presence and their plan would fall through.

After a few more seconds he found what he was looking for. But then he frowned when he found something else out. For once their information was wrong. The Republic had two Titan-Class Mechs, not one. Which also explained why they would send one to the border now and they were doing this parade. They are hoping to lure part of the fleet out and hit them with the second Titan-Class Mech.

Jace looked at his explosives and sighed. He did not have nearly enough explosives to disable two of these Mechs. He was going to have to improvise.

Jace retrieved the directions for the places and then wiped the interface he was using. He then began walking out of the office but backed up and to the side as someone walked in. The man who walked in frowned and looked around. Still unable to see through Jace’s invisibility.

"Hey! Were one of you in here?" The man called back.

"No Sarge! We know better than to mess with your crap!" A voice responded and was followed by a chorus of laughter.

The man clicked his tongue, "this better not be another prank." He then began moving around his desk and Jace moved out of the room.

As Jace walked out of the building he could hear angry yelling from the man as he discovered his digital interface had been wiped. He thought it was a prank by his subordinates. Which was fortunate for Jace, there would not be any suspicion of an intruder in that case.

He walked around the building and moved along the backside of them. It was a less busy walkway than the main street’s sidewalks. So he did not risk bumping into anyone. Jace was following it until he arrived at the first of the large hangers that contained a Titan-Class Mech. There were cameras at the door and a keypad at the door as well. There was not an easy way to get in.

But as he sat there and waited, he was coming up with a plan to sneak in. The only other entrance was a similar one on the other side of the building. Along with the large hanger entrances at the front and back of the building. Both of which were closed at the moment with only the front door being open.

As he was sitting here coming up with a plan he watched as the door swung open and a man in white lab coat stepped out and held the door open. He looked back into the facility as a group of engineers, mechanics, and other lab coats stepped out as well.

Jace moved quietly over to the wall near the door and waited until the last one was out. They were talking about the day’s work. Apparently he had chosen to sabotage the new mech first. The first lab tech out let go of the door when the last one was out and Jace slipped into the room.

He blinked in awe at the giant mech that was crouching in the hangar. Standing at a full height it would be the same size as a twenty story building. He knew ahead of time, but it was still amazing to see. He may not be a fan of mechs, but he could definitely see their appeal.
