Chapter 347: Unannounced Guests

By the time morning came around he had finished installing not just the new side door. But also installing security equipment on both the stairwell door and the garage door. For the new door he installed a sliding door that went up and down since they had so much vertical room in the garage. Then for the extra security he installed hard light barriers behind all of the doors.

The hard light barrier security doors were one of the theoretical ideas he had stored away. He decided to just go ahead and install them since he would be up because of the material converter anyways. It was constantly running and had turned half of the spare metal into ingots.

Making enough room for him to start cleaning the room. But first he would need some extra hands since he would just be doing some menial labor. So he brought out a pair of identical reinforced metal boxes that were sitting in the truck.

He set them on the ground and looked them over. They both had hand scanners for security locks. He just put his hand on them and they popped open slowly to reveal Hollow drones curled up in a ball. "Cain, take control of one of these and help me clean." Jace ordered as he took control of one of the Hollows and had it climb out of the box.

The other one ’woke up’ a moment later but it took a bit longer to get out of the box. Jace had to stop himself from laughing as Cain’s voice came from the Hollow. "Give me a break, I am used to having four legs. Two hands and two legs is odd!" Cain complained as Jace had his Hollow begin setting up the cleaning equipment as Jace began planning the storage for the spare resource ingots.

He could start with several metal shelves and organize them from-

[We have guests. But they have bad thoughts. Cho thinks they are here to be mean to Daddy. Does Daddy need help from Cho? Cho can make them go away.] Cho’s announcement and offer were both surprising.

But Jace shook his head as he projected a thought for Cho to catch. {No, I will take care of them. Just hide up there. I will have a space for you to move around in soon.} Jace told her as he stopped his Hollow from setting up the cleaning equipment and instead had it climb into the truck bed.

Jace walked over to the side of the truck and accepted the elongated reinforced box that his Hollow was handing to him. He turned around and set it on the ground before running electricity through it. Causing it to open.

Inside were his various weapons. From his Spectre Knife to his modified tri-cannon. There were a few ammunition cartridges. But he did not have a lot because he could custom make his own ammunition with the material converter.

He pulled out a laser sniper prototype he had only been playing with and tossed it to his Hollow. His Hollow caught it and jumped out of the bed of the truck. It then began moving to the back of the garage to set up in a position that would have a view of the garage entrance but would be difficult to see from the entrance because of the lighting.

Jace tossed a laser rifle prototype to Cain’s Hollow after setting it to stun. It fumbled with catching it then got a feel for it as Cain got more familiar. Jace managed to stop himself from laughing but not from grinning. "Set up over there." Jace pointed to a spot as he grabbed a Pyre and was about to close the container but decided to put the Pyre back and closed the container.

The garage shook as someone hit it several times like they were knocking on a door. Jace first activated his electrical vision as he had started describing it as, then looked around the building. Out the side door there were people with weapons looking at the door, most were bats and knives but one of them had a gun shaped weapon. Then out front were a number of people encircling the garage entrance. Jace stood up and walked over to a side panel opening both the hardlight barrier and the garage door. As it began creaking and rolling open he moved to the center of the garage.

Standing outside were a number of men with various weapons. They all had blue camo clothes as part of at least some part of their outfit. Standing out front opposite of him is a man with a bit of weight around his midsection and his stomach poking out. While his beard was unkempt and Jace could even see some food stuck in it.

Jace scrunched his nose as he could pick up a reeking smell coming from the man. He could tell immediately why they were giving him a wide berth. Because a moment later he could hear him release gas.

"Okay... I am hoping this blubber of fat and gas is not in charge of... what is your gang called?" Jace asked sarcastically, spotting a few of the gang members snickering while the farting man’s face turned red in anger.

"We are the Waterboys and we run the orphanage. I heard you harmed one of my pro- one of my little thieves." The man slipped up there for a moment as he spoke. "I am here to get reparations or this is going to turn into a problem. Because from the sound of it, you are going to be a problem."

"For a slime bag like you? Definitely." Jace nodded his head then looked at one of his goons. "Please tell me this guy was not promoted over the rest of you. He looks like a fat piece of-"

"That’s it!" The farting man yelled as he pulled out a weapon. Jace recognized it immediately as a Pyre-13. It is an older model that was prone to misfires and jamming. It never actually made it to the open market.

He did not get a chance to fire it as a yellow laser shot out of the dark from the back of the garage and went right through his hand sending the pistol flying. The other gang members were stunned for a moment as Jace looked over them. "Now let’s stay calm for a moment-"

"Aaahhhhh!" The farting man screamed as he held his hand. "You put a hole through my hand!" He screamed in pain. "Shoot the bastard! We will loot his garage and his body afterwards! Make an example of him!"

The gang members began drawing their weapons and Jace shook his head.
