Chapter 351: Introductions
Jace finished his meal and leaned back in his chair. The older of the two girls had held off on asking any more questions while he ate. While he observed them as he ate, he quickly realized a few things.
The first was that the younger of the girls is mute. Which was probably why Cho was excitedly talking with her. He had no idea what they were talking about but the younger girl’s cat ears kept on twitching. Which was another thing the younger girl was part cheetah beastman. The older girl was also constantly checking up on the younger one, like a sibling would.
"What should I do then? Because I can’t go back to the orphanage. Then even if I can go to the military academy now. I am worried about the others. What will Haunson do to them after I leave?" She asked as she nodded at the younger girl.
"There are some unspoken rules in even the criminal world. I have a feeling someone as slimy as Haunson has been violating them. But first I have to meet his boss so I can figure things out. Now is there anywhere for you two to stay while this is all going down?" Jace asked as he set aside his dish and waved at the waitress, indicating he was ready to pay.
"No, we cannot stay here. We do not want to start a fight between the Org’s Restaurant and the Waterboys." The older of the two girls answered as she played with her pasta. "We can go to another district and be homeless for a bit. I heard there are housing problems so we could just steal a tent and hideout. My sister and I are all that each other have."
"She is your blood relative?" Jace asked.
"Half siblings. Our mom was a prostitute at the place that Haunson wanted to send us. She died shortly after my sister was born. She was beaten to death by a customer. After that we started living at the orphanage and we had to survive with the other kids." The girl answered, "I... have not asked. What is your name?"
"Jace. You two can stay with me. You are thirteen so I assume the military academy on the station will be coming for you soon. Then your sister will probably end up needing someone but that is a problem for later. There is a few months before that happens." Jace informed them as he sent off a message to Cain. Telling him to get three more mats. One for Cho, and one for each of the girls.
"Nice to meet you Jace. My name is Allie and my sister’s name is Jordan. We do not have a family name." Allie explained as she focused on her food. "I appreciate you giving us a place to stay."
Jace nodded as he started to think about other things. "While you are with me I will give you the basic rundown on what you need to know and the best way to increase your system’s strength." Jace declared as he received a confirmation from Cain.
After a few minutes they could hear sirens and watched several police vehicles soar past them. Going in the direction of the garage. "Hey, isn’t your garage in that direction?" Allie asked.
"Yeah, Cain called the police because some of those Waterboys tried to break in." Jace informed them with a shrug. Already hearing the commotion.
"They have the local station police on the payroll- that won’t-" She stopped mid-sentence as several armored Humvees and military vehicles with the letters ’MP’ on the side drove past. "What are those?"
"Military Police. He also called them as well. They will detain both the corrupt police and the gangsters. It will be a wake up call up the chain of command in their organization and force their person to come meet with me." Jace explained as he could already hear a fight breaking out between the military police and the locals.
The waitress walked over with the bill. Jace waved his communicator and the screen with the bill showed as paid. The waitress looked confused. "It is just a quick pay method." Jace explained as he stood up. Tossing his napkin on the counter. "Cho will stay with you two. I am going to head to the garage. Pack up their meal if they do not finish it." Jace told the waitress as he walked away.
He walked down the street and glanced out the corner of his eye where an unmarked black vehicle was slowly following him. He grinned to himself as he distracted himself with his communication device while listening to them. He had noticed them around the middle of his meal when they arrived.
They were sent by Mistress White. Apparently he had done enough the first time to get her attention. At the moment the pair of goons in the black car were talking to someone over a call.
"Yeah, we have him in our sights. But apparently he has someone watching his place. The Waterboys and some of our people inside the police are currently being arrested by Military Police. Should we call our guy from the military to get them released?" One of them asked.
"Understood, we will grab him first." The man spoke again a moment first. "Then we will get our people out of lockup." Jace saw the vehicle pull up ahead of him. Then as Jace walked past a pair of people walked out. They were dressed in white suits with black ties.
"Can I help you?" Jace asked as he watched them both discreetly pull out laser pistols. They were a decent brand. But still not military grade.
"Sir, our boss would like a word with you." One of them told him. Jace looked at their faces but they were wearing a pair black sunglasses.
"Okay," Jace shrugged as he walked to the car and opened the passenger side door. "I suggest you be quick about it though. I have many things to do today. I do not want to spend any more than an hour or two on your boss." Jace declared as he closed the car door. He watched them exchange a look of confusion. Then one of them climbed in the seat behind him while the other went around and sat in the driver seat.
