Chapter 265: Vexical Prime: Montez Patrol

Jace raised the sword over head and slammed the tip of the sword down as he landed on the roof of the Walker Mech. It immediately started leaning back from the force he landed on the roof of the mech and with its pilot unable to adjust it started leaning back. Jace jumped from the roof towards the Trojan Mech which had started reacting by raising its weapon.

But when it noticed Jace’s movements it dropped its weapon which landed heavily on the ground causing the vehicle that was in front of it to drive forward and out of the way. While the Trojan Mech pulled out a sword from the giant scabbard that was at its hip.

Jace jumped forward as the Walker Mech leaned his sword clashing with the Trojan’s drawn sword. There was a loud ringing of metal as Jace’s sword clashed and sunk an inch into the Mech sword. But instead of pushing him back it pushed him up.

Jace had put his force into jumping upward so he flew over the Trojan Mech’s head. He was doing a backflip so he was not able to immediately move in to kill the pilot of the mech. But he landed on the ground behind the mech and did not have any time to strike at the mech’s back before he landed on the ground.

He did not need it intact so he dashed forward and sliced through the mech’s ankle as it tried to stab down at him. But as soon as he was past the Trojan Mech he was jumping up and slashing at the back. Not quite cutting through but he did put enough force to push it off its now detached foot and cause the entire mech to fall forward.

Jace used the opportunity to read the Trojan Mech’s schematics. Finding a weakness near the cockpit of the mech that he could use. He pulled out his sword and stabbed at the meeting point between two plates of metal. It slid in easily and stabbed through the pilot and whatever else was inside. He could feel the mech go slack as the pilot died.

He wasted no more time on savoring his first full Mech kill. No one counted the Power Armor’s or Walkers as true Mechs. Power Armor was just a crappy version of Infantry Armor. While Walker Mechs were originally designed as command and artillery units, they were not designed for combat against bigger adversaries.

Jace moved back over towards the other Walker Mech. It began firing its small arms weapons that were meant for infantry and would only pepper most armored units. Jace was no different, except his armor’s shielding appeared and deflected the bullets. His shielding was still operational at least, undamaged from the fall.

As he closed the distance the nearby enemy infantry soldiers all scattered as the bullets ricocheted. He was soon too close and caused the Walker Mech to step back to try to adjust. But Jace stabbed up through the bottom of the Walker Mech. When he was jumping on top of the one from earlier he read the schematic. It had multiple weak points. Including one between the legs towards the back that he could slide the sword right through into the pilot.

But it seems that his attack did not kill the pilot, because he could hear the pilot begin screaming. So he moved the hilt of his sword pushing so it was not straight up but at an angle. The screaming pilot was cut off as he presumably died.

Jace pulled his sword out and ran towards the next nearest enemy which was an infantry soldier. But he was pushed to the side by the Power Armor who was firing his heavy weapon at Jace.

Jace sliced down through the Power Armor like it was nothing as the bullets bounced off his shielding. He turned to the other two Power Armor’s but he did not get a chance to react as something exploded on his chest and sent him flying backwards. He slammed into the side of a building and slid down landing on his feet.

Dust had been thrown up so it completely hid him from the enemy infantry and Power Armors. He tried to change his visor’s vision but he just got another error message. He would have to look into it after this fight concluded.

"Can anyone see that monster?! Is it dead?!" He could hear someone call out.

It would seem getting thrown away slightly worked in his favor. He hoisted the long sword up and threw it towards the general location of the Power Armor that hit him. One of these days he needed to get a throwable weapon he could use. It was far too awkward to throw his sword.

Jace chased his sword out of the cloud of dust and ran right by a Power Armor that had turned slightly when the sword flew past it. Jace slammed his foot on the side of their leg. Causing them to scream in pain and catch the attention of others. Jace pulled the large rifle out of its hands and put the barrel between the gap that was at the meeting point of the helmet and body.

A single shot shut up the enemy in Power Armor. Jace turned his attention to the other Power Armors. Only one of them was left, he managed to skewer the one that shot him. It was currently falling backwards onto the ground.

Jace turned to the infantry soldiers and fired a spray of bullets that blew off limbs and killed them. He then laid into the transport vehicles. Out of the corner of his eye he watched the last Power Armor give up on shooting him since they were not even getting through his Shielding. So instead they pulled his sword out of his friend and ran at Jace.

Jace ignored it until the last second and then made the long sword dematerialize. It threw off the Power Armor’s balance and made them trip. Jace stepped back out of the way as he executed the last of the enemies he could see. Then he put the muzzle of the weapon against the same point in the armor he used earlier and fired.

This time there was a clear pop as he hit something and the bullet ricochet inside the head causing an explosion from the helmet. It was designed to keep bullets out, not keep them in. So the ricocheted bullet managed to do the damage by hitting the inside of the Power Armor’s helmet.

Jace glanced around for only a moment before he moved to one of the vehicles. He pulled out the corpse that was in the driver seat. In the center was a communication set just like he thought. He quickly began dismantling it and looking over the running program. After only a few minutes he had the decryption key for the Montez Kingdom’s channels.
