Chapter 990: Chapter 990: Weakened Divinities vs. Despicable Believers (Part 16)

Duke Royd brought Gu Shengyin to meet with his brother, the Emperor of the Lotte Empire, Phibit the First.

Phibit had just taken several beautiful consorts and was indulging in a haven of tenderness.

Upon hearing that his younger brother sought him, he felt quite impatient.

In his eyes, his brother Royd represented nothing but trouble.

However, to demonstrate his "benevolence," he could not shut the door on his own brother, the Empire’s Duke.

When Royd entered the grand hall, he saw his brother looking at him with a kindly smile.

"My dear brother Royd, what matter brings you to me?" Phibit asked with a smirk.

Royd’s expression did not relax in the slightest, even though he was facing the Emperor.

He bent slightly and said, "Honorable Emperor, during my recent trip to Sea Blue Province, I encountered a very mysterious Oracle. I am not a believer in divinities, but I thought you would find her quite intriguing."

"An Oracle?" As expected, Phibit’s eyes lit up upon hearing this.

But he quickly assumed a nonchalant demeanor and said, "Oh, really? I recall you’re not fond of such people."

Royd frowned slightly. "Indeed, I do not believe in these charlatans. However, this Oracle seems genuinely capable, and I thought it necessary for you to meet her."

Emperor Phibit studied Royd intently and noticed that although Royd tried to hide it, there was a trace of distaste and disdain in his eyes when speaking of the Oracle.

This put Phibit at ease.

He knew his brother well and was aware of his strong aversion to divinities and Oracles. If Royd were truly advocating for this Oracle, then that would be cause for suspicion.

Phibit believed in the existence of divinities, though he was not a devout believer.

He believed in divinities merely as a means to gain more benefits for himself.

"In that case, Royd, have her brought in to meet me." The Emperor said.

Royd nodded, and then a green figure walked in from the palace entrance.

The Emperor’s eyes widened instantaneously, and his bleary eyes were captivated by the elegant silhouette, unable to perceive anything else.

"Such a beauty..." he murmured.

Phibit felt that after seeing this beauty, the new consorts he had recently favored paled instantly.

She was like a vibrant, blooming flower, in stark contrast to his consorts, who seemed like artificial creations made of plastic.

Beautiful, yet lacking the vital essence and soul.

Gu Shengyin’s expression remained unchanged, though a hint of disgust flickered in her heart—the Emperor’s gaze was just too blatant.

Without a show of emotion, she blinked, and the Emperor suddenly felt as if his consciousness had plunged into an icy wasteland, causing him to involuntarily shiver and relinquish any prior appreciation for beauty.

"Greetings, esteemed Emperor of the Lotte Empire." Gu Shengyin slightly inclined her head as she greeted Phibit.

She did not offer a grand bow; as the Oracle of the Goddess of Nature, she need not bow to any royal authority.

Emperor Phibit came back to his senses and scrutinized Gu Shengyin carefully.

He did not forget Royd either.

Though Royd had introduced this Oracle, and logically they should know each other, neither had exchanged glances since she entered or spoken to one another.
