Chapter 683: Chapter 374: Rolling Up the Sleeves to Make Soup

The end of the holiday marks the beginning of Chen Wen and Lin’s second trip to Shanghai.

At the airport, Xiao Meier, Meng Wanning, Mei Xiang, and Li Ya stand together, looking at Chen Cheng and Wen Shulin across from them.

"I’ve asked Xiao Hai to wait for you at the airport," Chen Cheng says, "Xiao Er, just call him after you land."

Xiao Meier nods, "So how long will you and Sister Lin be away?"

"It’s not decided yet."

"Mr. Chen and I are going to Shanghai to handle some matters, probably around ten days," Wen Shulin estimates, "I need to sign some contracts, and Mr. Chen needs to personally interview several company executives."

"Ten days..." Li Ya elongates her voice, "Feels like a long time."

"Ten days will pass quickly," Wen Shulin smiles, ruffling Li Ya’s hair, "You stay home, and I’ll bring you a gift when I return."

Meng Wanning and Mei Xiang also glance subtly at Chen Cheng. Although they know he’s genuinely going to Shanghai for business, they feel reluctant at the thought of coming together but returning separately.

Chen Cheng notices their gaze but cannot express his thoughts too much with Xiao Meier present.

"Alright, it’s time for you to board," Chen Cheng says with a smile, "Message me when you arrive."

Xiao Meier responds, "Sure, you take care over there too."

"Okay."

Xiao Meier and the others leave the waiting room first; they are taking Wen Shulin’s plane back.

Chen Cheng and Wen Shulin exchange a glance, as if they have a lot to say.

"They’re gone, leaving just me," Wen Shulin starts, "Will you be bored?"

"How could I be bored?" Chen Cheng leans back on the sofa, "Actually, I quite enjoy being alone with you."

"Really?"

"Would I lie to you?"

Wen Shulin flips her hair, "There’s a welcome dinner tonight, prepared by Jiang Wenlong."

"He has finalized matters with Banna," she continues, "Agreed to Banna’s request, and CGG will set up a new branch there."

Chen Cheng nods slightly, "Alright, and our matters?"

"Tomorrow morning, I’ll go to Shanghai CGG with you. We’ll first help you select candidates, then I’ll sign my contract." Wen Shulin takes out her phone, handing it to Chen Cheng, "These are the people I’ve initially shortlisted. See if anyone catches your eye?"

"This isn’t a beauty pageant, why talk about catching the eye?" Chen Cheng teases.

Wen Shulin gives him a light slap, "Have a look first."

Chen Cheng takes the phone, browsing through the profiles Wen Shulin prepared. Each profile is carefully screened, concise and clear.

"These people are the backbone of Shanghai CGG, their skills and experience are solid."

Wen Shulin explains, "Based on Dili Private Equity’s needs, I’ve initially shortlisted these individuals, covering core positions like investment research, transaction execution, risk management, and compliance control."

Chen Cheng nods as he browses; Wen Shulin’s candidate selection reassures him in every aspect.

"Let’s start with the business department."

Wen Shulin speaks slowly, "These three, Li Mingbo, Wang Xiaoyan, Zhang Qiang, are all senior investment managers with over ten years of industry experience, specializing in different investment research fields, covering stocks, bonds, derivatives, and more."

She pauses, then adds, "Li Mingbo leans towards macro strategy with a keen sense of economic cycles and policy changes; Wang Xiaoyan specializes in quantitative investment with strong model-building capabilities; Zhang Qiang focuses on industry research with a profound understanding of several key industries."

"Sounds good," Chen Cheng nods.

"In terms of transaction execution," Wen Shulin points to two more resumes, "I recommend Liu Yang and Zhao Kai. Liu Yang is experienced, with stable operations and familiar with various trading strategies; Zhao Kai is young and promising, quick to react, and has done significant research in high-frequency and algorithmic trading."

She continues, "One is stable, one is quick, they can complement each other well."

"For risk management, I recommend Sun Li," Wen Shulin points to a female’s resume, "She’s very meticulous and has unique insights into risk control, also very professional in compliance. Risk control is paramount in private equity funds, and Sun Li can definitely handle it."

Chen Cheng nods, aware of the importance of risk control.

"The last one is the head of the compliance and risk control department, I recommend Lin Wei."

Wen Shulin points to the final resume, "He previously worked at a large law firm and is very familiar with financial regulations and compliance operations. He then joined Shanghai CGG and is a top figure in compliance, being upright and principled, ensuring Dili Private Equity’s compliant operations."

After introducing everyone, Wen Shulin looks at Chen Cheng, "That’s the basic framework. You bring them over to Dili, plus your recruit Wu Dongyi, and the entire internal dynamic will be revitalized."

She explains thoughtfully, "As for the people below them, leave it to headhunters to recruit. With the year almost over, recruiting will be easy enough."

"Alright," Chen Cheng hands the phone back, "When will we meet them?"

"Tomorrow at eleven in the morning, we’ll go straight there," Wen Shulin asks, "By the way, what compensation do you plan to offer? Will you arrange accommodation for them? These are things you need to discuss with them."

"Double? That should be the top salary in the industry, right?" Chen Cheng states simply, "As for accommodation, it’s a small matter."

"That’s generous?"

"Money is just a symbol to me," Chen Cheng laughs, "I want the right talent to keep Dili running."

Wen Shulin smiles broadly, grabbing her bag and getting up, "Let’s go, we should head out too."
