Chapter 1559: 1559. Nowhere to Hide
Her son never listens to her, having no trace of filial affection towards his mother, which is the hardest thing for Leanne Richards to accept.
She even feels that her position in her son’s heart is far less important than that of Helen Melendy, that little Fox Spirit.
Yet, she never wants to face this truth, relying on belittling Helen Melendy and despising her to find that tiny bit of superiority for herself.
But this sense of superiority was brutally exposed by Elly Campbell at this moment, leaving her nowhere to hide.
Elly Campbell had been enraged by Leanne Richards’ humiliating remarks about Helen Melendy, and wasn’t about to speak kindly to Leanne.
“Your so-called superiority amounts to nothing more than the title of Mrs. Hall, but apart from that, where do you feel superior to Helen Melendy?”
“Is it your diploma from a third-rate chicken university, or your laughably ridiculous business acumen?”
Leanne Richards, in order to showcase her skills as surpassing Mia Brown, took many interviews on the Financial Channel, using half-baked theories from books to pose as an expert.
Others, out of respect for her position as Mrs. Hall, didn’t criticize her face-to-face, and even gave her compliments, leading her to genuinely believe she had a talent for business and feeling proud.
Little did she know those financial viewpoints she expressed became the topic of ridicule behind her back.
Even the interviews invited by the Financial Channel were opportunities she paid for herself to appear on camera.
Such affairs were hardly a secret in their circle, and Leanne Richards, like an ostrich, thought that by burying her head in the ground, if she couldn’t hear anything, others wouldn’t know either.
Now, being called out so bluntly by Elly Campbell, her face flushed with embarrassment, she flew into a rage out of humiliation.
“Elly Campbell, you…”
Elly Campbell didn’t even give her the chance to speak, continuing:
“Your academic achievements can’t compare to Helen Melendy’s, your talents fall short against Helen Melendy’s, and even your looks don’t match up to Helen Melendy’s. May I ask, where does your superiority lie? The status of Mrs. Hall?”
At this, she deepened the smile in her eyes, the sarcastic look making Leanne Richards’ entire face ache.
“As long as Helen Melendy is willing, she can become Mrs. Hall any time!”
This sentence left Leanne Richards utterly bewildered.
Thinking about her son’s determination to marry no one but Helen Melendy, she knew that Elly Campbell’s words rang true.
If Helen Melendy wishes, she can rightfully become Mrs. Hall.
Whereas she, the current Mrs. Hall, even being the biological mother of the head of the Hall Clan, is nothing more than an outdated Mrs. Hall.
If Helen Melendy truly enters the Hall Family, is there still a place for her?
This is why she absolutely cannot allow Helen Melendy to marry into the Hall Family.
Having said these things, looking at Leanne Richards’ fluctuating expression, sure enough, she felt much more comfortable inside.
She didn’t spare Leanne Richards another glance and headed toward the inside of the building.
Thinking that Leanne Richards had already met Helen Melendy, Elly Campbell’s heart began to grow increasingly uneasy.
Someone like Leanne Richards, if she knew that Helen’s legs might never stand again, would surely go to harshly provoke Helen.
With this thought, the coldness in Elly Campbell’s eyes intensified, and her steps quickened involuntarily.
When Elly Campbell arrived outside the ward, she stopped her feet, hesitating to enter.
She lingered outside the door for a long time, but the door in front of her was opened first by someone inside.
Initially, Elly Campbell thought it was Shirley, but when she looked up, she saw it was Helen Melendy.
