Chapter 307: I don’t know when is the wedding

The next day...

Lola grunted, her entire body sore from last night’s fight. She stretched, then turned to her side. As she opened her eyes, she caught a figure lying beside her. Lola blinked weakly a few more times until Atlas’s face grew clearer.

Atlas was lying on his side, his temple resting against his knuckles. He stared at her, his expression unreadable.

"Good morning," she greeted in a hoarse voice, scooting closer to him. "Did you just arrive?"

"I told you I’d be back last night, not today," he said, his eyes scanning her again.

This time, she knew what was in his head.

"I’m fine," she reassured with a chuckle. "Though my muscles feel sore. Feels like hitting the gym for the first time, but overall, I’m okay."

"I know," he answered flatly. "The doctor told me you are fine, and I trust professionals more."

His eyes scanned every pore of her body and, without a word, he leaned over and planted a soft kiss on the corner of her lips. Lola squinted a bit, clutching the blanket. But unlike what she expected, Atlas drew his head back instead of pinning her.

"My siblings are here," he whispered. "They’re worried, so they came early."

"Oh." She blinked, keeping herself together.

"Can you get up?"

"Mhm." She pursed her lips and nodded.

"Okay."

Atlas got up. Standing at the side of the bed, he offered his hand to her. "Come."

Lola idled for a second before she reached out. When she was seated on the edge of the bed, she glanced up at him. "Atlas, about last night... are you sure you’re okay with it?"

Atlas blinked. "Mhm."

"Did you even see the penthouse?" she asked, just to make sure it hadn’t scared him. "I — I hurt people."

"And I’m impressed. You should’ve hurt them more."

Lola studied his expression, searching for any trace of doubt. There was none. If anything, Atlas looked at her the same way—she didn’t expect that. Even when he had told her about the Secret Society, in her eyes, Atlas was faultless. For her, he was an angel. Even now, his halo was shining so bright.

"Get up now," he reached for her hand. "Otherwise, you’ll be stuck in there."

Her thoughts halted. When his words sank in, Lola felt her entire body weaken. Collapsing onto her back, but he held her hand to keep her from falling.

"Atlas, I want to sleep some more~" she mused, reclining with her hand in his grip. "I think I should stay in bed for a while?"

He narrowed his eyes and then let her hand go. Lola instantly collapsed back onto the mattress, almost biting her tongue as she hummed.

"Ack—" she winced, only to feel his knee settle between her legs as he crawled on top of her. She pursed her lips as his face hovered over hers, pinching his shirt. Her eyes gleamed with excitement and mischief, a suppressed giggle bubbling up.

Atlas let out a faint sigh, then the corners of his mouth hooked up. He was relieved she was truly fine.

"Be gentle," she moved her face up and whispered. "And be quick."

"That second one, I don’t promise," he said, lowering his head as his hand touched her hips. "But I will be careful."

A light giggle escaped her as he lowered his head and placed a soft kiss on her lips. He didn’t linger on her mouth, aware of her wound. Instead, he traced kisses on her cheek and jaw, then nibbled at the side of her neck. His hand snuck under her shirt, tracing the outline of her body with his fingertips until his forefinger brushed her erect nipple.

"Mhm," she moaned, her back arching as her shirt rode up, exposing her stomach.

In a second, Atlas tugged off her shirt and tossed it to the side of the bed. He also took off his shirt before bending over to continue. This wasn’t his plan, even though every time he looked at her, all he could think of was her warmth around him.

He wanted her to rest, to recover. But she didn’t want rest; she wanted something else. Who was he to refuse?

So, as promised, Atlas went gentler than usual, thrusting in and out of her carefully. No biting, no gripping, no pinning. Just casual lovemaking. His promise was to be gentle, being quick, however? Hell no.

He didn’t pull out even after a few rounds; they even showered together afterward, finishing in the bathroom. He might’ve asked for another round if she hadn’t started begging him to leave her alone.

Penny and Slater were staying in the room next to Lola’s. The two looked bored; Penny stared at the breakfast table.

"Is she still asleep?" she wondered, cupping her face. "I’m hungry."

"That’s weird," Slater checked the time. "Is she really fine? She’s usually an early bird—though, not as early as you. Compared to you, she doesn’t wake up early just so she can eat early."

Penny pouted, weighing whether she should be angry. In the end, she ignored him. Like a child, she glanced at the door.

"Should we check on them?" she wondered.

Slater pondered. "Let’s just take a peek—"

Before he could finish, the entrance suddenly flew open. Walking in were Lola, dressed in an oversized shirt and pajama bottoms, and Atlas. Penny and Slater narrowed their eyes.

Lola’s hair was still slightly wet, proof that she had showered. Atlas’s hair was damp, the tips brushing his brows.

"Sorry for making you wait and for worrying you," Lola said as she sat across from Penny. "Atlas told me you guys are here to visit. You didn’t have to."

Her brows rose at their suspicious looks. "Uhm... what?"

"Did you two shower together?" Penny asked curiously, making Lola’s breath hitch.

Slater opened and closed his mouth. "Really?!"

Did they come here just to ask if she showered with Atlas?

Lola’s nose scrunched up, and when she was about to deny it, Atlas answered.

"Yes." He then froze as if reminded of something and slid his eyes to Lola. "No."

But retracting his answer was already too late. Penny and Slater stared at them with equal shock. They looked at Atlas, then slowly moved their gaze to Lola. Just as they opened their mouths, Lola beat them to it.

"I don’t know when the wedding is," she answered. "I really don’t."
