Chapter 825: Arrangement
"Now that we know the actual situation, what are we gonna do? Are we going to fight against the R.A.I.D.? As much as I hate to say this, their people are strong. Even with our people, I don’t know if we can win against them or not." Eid asked.
The situation was indeed dire.
R.A.I.D. had gone ahead, setting up their ambush.
Besides, they had 5 Tier 7 humans along with the one-eyed swordsman.
Even though they had brought three Tier 7 humans, they still needed to face three more Tier 7 humans.
Clovis smiled as if he had predicted this development.
"It’s easy. We just continue at our pace. Even though we don’t know what they’re planning to do, we know that they are going to sabotage us here."
"I know. Their target is Vina. Since killing is prohibited, we can feel a bit relieved, but it doesn’t change the situation." Eid shook his head.
"Of course not. Since it’s not going to change, we will just proceed according to their arrangement."
Eid squinted his eyes. "You must be scheming something. What is it? Are you going to keep it to yourself again?"
"I wouldn’t really call it a scheme. It’s more like an arrangement. You and Nart will take care of one of their Tier 7 humans. Jay and Erwin will take care of the other one. I will handle the one-eyed swordsman. The details can wait."
Eid crossed his arms. "Isn’t this going to be dangerous?"
"I’m more worried about the beast attack than R.A.I.D., to be honest."
"If you are playing with our lives, I’m not going to forgive you."
"Don’t worry. I don’t plan to throw anyone’s life, but everyone is already in danger the moment you exit the city, so I can’t guarantee your life other than the fact that my plan doesn’t have the intention to treat anyone like cannon fodder."
"Fine." Eid nodded. "We will proceed according to your arrangement."
"Let’s move out then!" Clovis smiled and waved his hand.
Although they were confused, they still continued because the two team captains had come to an agreement.
While walking, Clovis moved to Jay.
"Do you need something?" Jay asked.
"I need you to become stronger. If I want my plan to work, I need you to do your job."
"Hmm?" Jay frowned. "How are we going to solve that?"
"Tonight, come to my tent."
"..." Jay looked at Clovis dumbfoundedly. "Are you..."
"I’m talking about my unique ability. It’s your turn now.""
Jay looked down. It looked like the mall held the key to becoming even stronger. Although he didn’t know what Clovis had in mind, it was necessary. "Fine."
The team continued according to their original schedule. Stefany cleverly picked a time when Clovis couldn’t chase her.
She regrouped with the R.A.I.D. at 3 PM, which meant they went to the cave at full speed. Clovis, on the other hand, had to stay for the night. Even if the enemy did the same, they would be much ahead.
Continuing their trip during the night was extremely dangerous, especially in this forest where high-level beasts resided.
Hence, no matter what Clovis did, there was no way he could catch up with the opposing team.
Nevertheless, Clovis had achieved his objective. To be fair, he couldn’t care less about who betrayed the team.
Even if it was Vina, the plan didn’t change. The only thing that changed was the person who was going to win the succession battle.
Whether it was Vina or Stefany, he didn’t really care.
Once the tent had been set up, someone entered his tent. He expected Jay to come, but, surprisingly, it was Christina.
She took out a jamming device, which was usually used to jam a person’s hearing. It wouldn’t work for normal people, but those with brain affinity who had heightened senses wouldn’t be able to hear anything around this device.
"You said it was a secret earlier, but was it really a secret or just something you couldn’t answer back then because others might know about it too?"
It turned out Christina was truly curious about Clovis’ relationship with the Stel Neven Archive.
Clovis smiled wryly. "You really want to know about it?"
"Yes. You might not feel the weight, but the Stel Neven Archive is something that even superpower nations are fighting for. Unlike the Sky Network, which is under the United Nations, the Stel Neven Archive was the underworld version of this network.
"It might be weaker, but in the wrong hands, it would be possible to threaten countries.
"It is an archive that no one knows who has access to. All they know is that the data is linked to that map agency.
"They’re trying to get anything from the owner of that map agency, but nothing comes up. It is as if there is a ghost that keeps feeding them that data.
"That’s why I don’t want you to get entangled with something you know nothing about."
Christina was worried about him rather than trying to get her hand on the archive.
Clovis actually understood everything after knowing the true identity of Steven.
It indeed could threaten countries. In fact, all the things his parents and grandparents had done might be related to the archive.
His grandfather once humiliated a country by killing its president and his entire family. The only reason he was able to do it must be not just because of his strength but also because of this archive.
His parents and grandfather had been protecting him in the dark. They must be watching their enemies through this archive.
It just showed how powerful this information network was.
Clovis contemplated for a moment before waving his hand, asking her to come closer.
"Can you promise me that you will never tell this to anyone, including your grandfather?"
"..." Christina’s heart skipped a beat. The secret scared her a bit. Why would Clovis go to this extent?
Still, Christina nodded. "I promise."
Clovis whispered in her ear. "The owner of that archive is the Hacfield family."
"!!!"
