Chapter 106: Chapter 106
Orland knew she wouldn’t hit him, yet, the thought of upsetting her was enough to make him feel uneasy.
The least he wanted was to make his daughter feel uncomfortable. And so, aware of the importance of what his unattentive mind had forgotten, the Duke braved himself one last time inhaling a quick big breath as he tightened his lips, to open his shut eyelids and let his gaze fall on his daughter’s... Only praying to somehow survive the cold eyes she might judge him with.
’Compassionate Gods residing on the Ethereal planes conforming Izeneya... I apologise for the wrong I have done..... May you find pity on my shortcomings and help me amend the mistake I have made against my daughter..... Only... Don’t let her stay upset with me for too long..... My heart will tear apart if she despises me again.....’
Fearing the worst with extreme negativity, Orland opened his eyes... To find a curious charming stare from the unique scintillating anthracite pebbles that resided in those beautiful big eyes his esoteric daughter had.
His eyes widened to the sight, feeling entranced by the deepness those dark grey eyes their bloodline honoured them with, hid inside them.
Thanks to their blinding grace, their thrilling and vibrant colour... He understood there was nothing to worry about.
His words left his mouth with ease and cleared the misstep he had taken, with polished poetry.
No verse was enough to convey her illustrious being, yet his soul would never cease striving to deliver the praise she deserved.
"... Ah... Dear? Maybe this Father of yours has become blinded by his daughter’s wonderous spirit... Have I not lost the ability to see... Then... what else could solve the negligence these eyes have made to not notice thee luminance?
Shall I have not met the glories residing in your gaze... The brilliant glow your countenance blesses this world with might have only been admired by the Gods and mystic creatures, who can easily endure the overwhelming resonant force your soul radiates...
Ah... May I applaud our blood for granting these gems on you, for I can admire my daughter’s excellence how only the distinguished beings in Izeneya are allowed to." — Orland recited.
His hand hesitated to even graze the girl’s visage as the eloquent words sang praises to her. To think he had previously caressed her cheeks with ease moments ago had him baffled as to how brazen of a thing he had done.
The young girl’s eyes were no longer displaying the curiosity he once saw.
Now, there was only astonishment in them.
Both souls residing in the body of his daughter were speechless at the Duke’s phrases. Their bizarre misconceptions about what had their parent making a painful expression were quickly discarded, along with the pending response to the inquiry made on her disposition.
Their eyes couldn’t resist the Duke’s loving gaze, and so, lowering their lids, a pinkish mist started to spread on the girl’s cheekbones, enhancing the beautiful innocence their souls possessed.
Adorable and fascinating, a shyness that was certainly infectious if one were to behold its manifestation on Marianne’s inland... Caused Orland to sigh in disbelief.
"... Sigh..... Sweetie... What am I to do?... Every time you grant me the delight to see your gorgeous soul through these eyes we share... This Father of yours finds himself in great turmoil." — Without letting his thoughts remain a secret, Orland softly told his daughter what had invoked the incredulous sigh, with an effective but also concerned tone.
The two girls listened attentively as they gave little peeks at the talking Duke.
Once they heard his last sentence, both made their body widen their eyes, shocked by how the Duke had described his feelings.
Nonetheless, he continued to speak, paying no mind to their obvious alarm.
"... My kind daughter... Do not misunderstand..... I pray for this beaming light you radiate to never fade away..." — Granting a fond smile, Orland confessed his worry. And, finding her unwavering eyes fixated on his, the cute pureness incited his finger to playfully tap her nose as he added. — "That is... The only thing that could bring me grief in this life, my lovely bird..."
Blinking to the unexpected touch, Marianne continued to show her common dull expression. Yet, deep inside, the other resident of the body laughed at the unpredictable developments that came with the Duke.
’Ahahaha! Oh gosh! A boop to the nose!! That’s a good one Sir!’ — She laughed in delight, feeling how warm happiness tingled her being.
There was no space in them to mind their current state. Any charming word the Duke dedicates to them was a spell to make the two children forget what had troubled them. His sayings brought to the pair a dreamy bliss every time.
However, unbeknownst to the one foreign to this Realm... That bliss was growing further into what she desired to avoid the most.
Regardless of the free spirit that soul possessed, it would always remain true to itself.
And so, just as she spontaneously is now grabbing the hand of her body’s Father with elated mood into her room... She can also loosen that grip to maintain the distance she needs to protect herself.
It is a matter that the real Marianne has yet to know. However... Although Elizabeth won’t admit it... She has no expectations for finding her own wholesome happiness...
The woman who keeps promising the young lady a happy future together... Has long ago relinquished her own to only find Marianne’s path to healing contentment.
Thus..... We who reside in Izeneya... Shall watch our children’s steps and protect them. For we have brought them here with a sole purpose...
*******
Somehow, we avoided an awkward moment thanks to the on-spot compliments the Duke gave us.
He must know that whatever is inside our Marianne is as cool and beautiful and pure and angelic as we are, hehehe.
He doesn’t know this, but he’s read me quite well.
Still, it’s no good that I get impulsive when something amuses me.
In the end, the first thing I told him through the notes was basically: "Father, forget that, I’m in grief because I’m hungry."
"..."
’... It’s the truth, though? Our stomach was feeling empty, sweetheart. Don’t try to hide the sun with a finger~’
This girl was not satisfied with my comment. To be fair, I know she wanted to be sweeter on our words but... I kind of wasn’t too keen to do it.
I feel that my words wouldn’t be good to return his kind words. That’s why I merely wrote a cute message so we could stop the emotional Sir from doing more poetry.
It’s bad for our heart to flutter so much by his eloquence.
Also, he’s been certainly putting his whole heart into those compliments, and it’s not good for him to become so emotional at his age. We have to take care of the sensitive Sir. Therefore, if he’s to become emotional, it should be by funny things instead of what he fears.
That’s why I wrote this:
[Shall we eat so I can beam stronger, Father?]
I mean... Isn’t that cute? It’s also practical because with that I killed two bir–... I should... probably change the animal since he calls us bird.
We kill two... Deers? Those are big... Hmm... It’s sad if I say bunnies...
Anyway, we manage to make him laugh and also get to eat our breakfast, which I truly needed in my current state.
He chuckled to it and showed that charming smile he has, so all is well if we think about it.
But, Anne is still pouting.
I guess it was wrong on my part to ignore her this time...
’Hey, I’m sorry, but how about we make a little letter to him? I mean, he always says very elaborated things so... we should prepare one that’s on his level for the next time? We might have messed it up if we do it in a rush, so..... What do you think, Anne???’
"~~!"
Thankfully, she liked the idea.
We are two girls in their period, so it’s better to keep the peace between us.
I glanced at Marianne’s father now that we had come to an agreement.
He was enjoying his meal, just as I was. However, he’s sharp even when he’s this relaxed.
The Duke caught my gaze a millisecond after I turned it to him. Grinning with a cute expression he looked at me with clear delight.
It was thanks to this that a thing we seemed to have forgotten was mentioned once he realised about it.
"Oh! Now that I recall... Sweetie, may I ask about your schedules for the coming days?"
"...?" — I tilted my head since I was ignorant as to why he would ask us, who do mostly nothing, for our schedule. And the answer came straight away without even letting me think of a reason for that.
"We cannot let more days go without ordering your dresses now, can we?"
’Oh~ That’s right. We have to go shopping~’
Understanding what he intended, the day of our next outing was thoroughly decided while we finished our meal.
