Chapter 284: You Serve The Fusion King Now
Raegar couldn’t make out what was in the darkness but choose to ignore it, he wasn’t in the mood to fight. He moved toward the bed and slumped down, still feeling the weight of using Fusion Overdrive once again, letting out a sigh he relaxed on the mattress, falling asleep while his body mended itself.
By the time he woke up hours later, he didn’t know what was happening until Arthur appeared, kneeling. ’’My lord. The second Fusion Knight is close, once we beat him we’ll be allowed back into the real world.’’
This caught Raegar’s attention and feeling better, he jumped up and replied, a grin spreading across his face. ’’Let’s get going then, I want to go see if the girls are okay after the monster attacks.’’
Following that, the duo rushed across the forest only to reach an areana in the heart of the trees. This confused him but Arthur explained. ’’Whatever diety took us, spread us out all over the place, so we’re scattered all across the world.’’
Raegar glanced at the knight with a dead pan expression. ’’How am I meant to get around the world?’’
’’Turn a Wyvern, Griffin or some other flying creature into a Fusion Beast,’’ Arthur revealed.
’’Huh?’’
The knight laughed and soon calmed down, explaining. ’’Yes you can turn ten monsters into Fusion Beasts to fight alongside us.’’
Raegar’s eyes widened in shock at this but then an idea came to him. ’’I’ll go capture a Wyvern, one of the old ones that can fly for weeks, it should be enough for the upcoming journey’s.’’
When Arthur heard this he eagerly agreed. ’’Are you going to bring the girls?’’
’’Of course, why would I leave them out of my adventurers?’’
’’Because Yuki and Dahlia don’t seem the type to roam around the world,’’ the knight answered. ’’Especially the later, she’s the Empress of Dawnfire, a continent wide empire, my lord.’’
’’That make’s sense,’’ Raegar agreed. ’’Well I’ll talk to them all when we get back, first we need to get the second of your kind.’’
Following that, the two entered the areana where they were locked in by a mana barrier that neither could break. Arthur pointed toward a light in the far distance. ’’There is are goal, let’s get going so we can go help the ladies.’’
Raegar led the way, taking out his daggers, readying himself for a fight and five minutes later they stepped onto an arena just as a dangerous aura eminated from the opposite side of the arena. This put them on edge, forcing the duo to prepare for an attack that came seconds later.
The Fusion Knight moved to intercept the strike and blocked a massive sword aimed to cut him in half but when he saw this, he moved using Flash Step, appearing behind the enemy knight, clad in dark black armor and moving surprising fast for it’s bulky size. He aimed a dozen slashes at the foes legs but the metal deflected every hit.
He sensed the enemy knight turning toward him and cast Flash Step, vanishing in a blur to get away from the incoming strike. The sword crashed into the ground, the impact sending tremors through the earth, knocking both combatants off balance. Arthur regained his footing and launched a fierce counterattack, clashing with the rival Fusion Knight.
Sparks erupted as Raegar surged forward, his daggers infused with Aether. He struck with skill, slicing through the knight’s armor, which buckled under the blades. The enemy struggled to track his movements, Flash Step turning him into a fleeting shadow in the chaos of battle.
The clash of steel echoed through the scorched battlefield as Arthur and Raegar faced the black-armored Fusion Knight. The enemy’s obsidian armor gleamed under the flickering light of fires, its greatsword swinging. Arthur ducked under a sweeping blow, the air hissing as the blade sliced inches above his head.
Raegar darted to the side, leaving only a faint shimmer in his wake. The enemy knight roared, and slammed its weapon into the ground, unleashing a shockwave of dark energy that tore up the earth around them. Arthur stumbled but rolled forward as he slashed at the knight’s armored legs.
The strike sparked against the dark plating, leaving only a shallow gash. Raegar seized the moment, leaping onto the knight’s back, his Aether-coated daggers plunging toward a weak point in the joints. The foe twisted violently, throwing him off, but not before one dagger carved a deep score across its shoulder.
Seconds later, the enemy retaliated with terrifying speed, its gauntleted fist catching Arthur in the chest, sending him skidding across the dirt. Gasping, the Blue Knight raised his sword to block another crushing blow, the impact jarring his bones. Raegar, undeterred, flickered in and out of sight, weaving a dizzying pattern around the knight.
He struck repeatedly, each slice of his daggers chipping away at it, but the Fusion Knight seemed tireless, its dark energy pulsing stronger with every wound. ’’Keep it distracted!’’
Arthur shouted, channeling Aether into his blade until it glowed white-hot. He lunged, aiming for the knight’s chest, but the enemy parried with a deft twist of its greatsword, forcing him to retreat. Raegar appeared behind it, slashing at the foe’s exposed back, only to be met with a backhand that sent him sprawling.
Raegar crashed down but jumped back up as the Fusion Knight loomed over them, its eyes glowing crimson through the slits. It raised its sword high, tendrils of energy coiling around the blade, preparing a strike. Moments later, the Blue Knight charged forward, while Raegar vanished, ready to strike from the shadows.
The battle’s outcome hung in the balance as the two heroes braced for the knight’s onslaught. As the corrupted knights greatsword fell, Arthur met it head-on. The clash exploded in a burst of light and shadow, the force pushing the blue one back several steps, his arms straining against the overwhelming might.
Raegar materialized from the shadows, his daggers slashing at the knight’s flank, drawing a spray of ethereal sparks. The knight swung wildly, but Raegar was already gone, reappearing on the opposite side to strike again. The battle intensified, the ground cratering under the exchanges.
Arthur pressed forward with a flurry of strikes, his blade chipping away at the knight’s defenses, but the enemy countered with brutal efficiency, its gauntlet smashing into Arthur’s side and cracking ribs. Pain flared, but Arthur grit his teeth, refusing to yield. Raegar, dodging a sweeping arc, felt the strain of constant Flash Steps wearing on him.
Sensing the tide turning against them, Raegar channeled his inner reserves. ’’Enough!’’ he growled, his eyes igniting with a fierce glow.
A surge of power erupted from within as he activated Fusion Overdrive, his body enveloped in a aura of boosted Aether. H eblurred, muscles rippling with enhanced strength, speed, and energy that eclipsed his normal limits. The air crackled around him, and his daggers glowed with pure light.
The knight hesitated for the first time, its crimson eyes widening as his presence dominated the battlefield. In a blink, Raegar closed the distance, his Flash Step now instantaneous and unstoppable. He unleashed a barrage of strikes, each one piercing the armor like it was parchment, shards of obsidian flying in all directions.
Seconds later, the enemy swung desperately, but he was a phantom, evading, countering, overwhelming. Arthur, inspired, joined the assault, his own sword syncing with his rhythm, forcing the knight into a defensive stagger. Letting out a thunderous roar, Raegar drove his empowered daggers into the knight’s core.
The Fusion Overdrive energy exploding inward. The black armor shattered in a shower of fragments, the knight’s form convulsing before crumbling to the ground in defeat. Smoke rose from the wreckage as the red glow faded. Arthur lowered his sword, while Raegar deactivated his skill, the aura dissipating as he stood victorious, though exhausted.
He managed to stay standing while letting out a yawn as the pulling feeling increased, forcing him to step toward the body of the Black Fusion Knight which was still down and once close enough something happened. A light connected between the two but the being fought against it.
Following that, Raegar’s piercing gaze fixed on the being, now kneeling before him. The knight’s armor gleamed with an otherworldly sheen, its runes pulsing faintly with dark energy. Slowly, the helmet tilted upward, revealing eyes like smoldering coals, yet tempered with newfound loyalty.
His lips curled into a faint, approving smirk as he studied his new Fusion Knight, sensing the raw power bound to his will. ’’Rise,’’ he commanded. ’’You serve the Fusion King now.’’
Afterward, Raegar looked for a place to rest and followed Arthur to a room at the edge of the arena where the two knights guarded the door while he slept. The worlds energy pouring into his body, helping him recover quicker. By the time he woke up, roars and howls echoed in the distance but he could feel the sensation of him being allowed to open a gate back to the real world.
