Chapter 392: Chapter 392: Secret Meeting
Selena merely shrugged and answered lightly, "I couldn’t help myself. That’s all."
Mia let out a soft breath and rolled her eyes again. "If you try something like that again, I’ll have to punish you."
Her words were firm but not harsh.
She turned back, exposing her back to Selena once more.
That small gesture surprised Selena.
She had half expected Mia to throw her out or at least push her away, but Mia had done neither.
It made her realize that her assumptions about Mia and about Aurora had been wrong.
Things were far more complicated than she had believed.
She continued massaging Mia’s back, her fingers moving with the same gentle, almost tender care.
The room grew quiet except for the faint sounds of their breathing.
Meanwhile, Aurora stepped out of the hotel room, her mind still clouded with questions.
She could not stop thinking about why Mia and Selena were in a hotel instead of at a house, or how far their relationship had progressed.
Judging from what she had just seen, it did not seem to have gone very far.
She walked slowly down the hallway, her thoughts tangled, but just as she was about to leave the hotel, she caught sight of something, or to be precise, someone... that made her stop in her tracks.
Not far ahead, near the entrance to the elevator, she saw two familiar figures standing close together. Isabella... and Ryan.
Aurora’s brows furrowed. Ryan was Spencer’s half-brother. What was he doing with Isabella?
Her heart sank a little. From past encounters and the confrontation she had witnessed before, she knew Isabella and Spencer were no longer on the same side.
Her own interference had changed their relationship.
If Isabella and Ryan were meeting in secret, it could mean trouble for Spencer.
That thought alone was enough to make Aurora decide to follow them.
She moved quietly, keeping a safe distance as she tailed the pair.
Isabella and Ryan went up to the top floor and stopped in front of the door to the presidential suite.
Aurora hid around a corner, her eyes narrowing as she watched them go inside.
The presidential suite had its own security system.
The door required not only a keycard but also additional verification methods. Audio tricks would not be enough this time.
Aurora bit her lip, thinking fast.
She needed to find a way to tap into the suite’s network system if she wanted to hear their conversation.
Various thoughts churned in her mind until an idea, a slightly wicked one, came to her.
Inside the suite, Isabella stood with her arms crossed, her posture calm and elegant but with a sharpness in her eyes.
Ryan was seated on the sofa.
Isabella broke the silence first, her voice laced with coldness.
"If whatever you’re going to propose isn’t worth my time, then even your father won’t be able to protect you."
Ryan laughed softly, leaning back against the sofa as if Isabella’s sharp words amused him.
Though he was famous for being a playboy in the circle, the truth was, his father had taught him how to scheme and remained unharmed.
"Before you make any decision or jump to conclusions," he said, his voice was laced with confidence, "you should hear my plan first. You might find it more interesting than you think."
Isabella arched one elegant brow but said nothing.
Instead, she made a small gesture with her hand, giving him the signal to speak.
Seeing her willingness to listen, Ryan’s smile widened.
"I know about your history with my brother," he began. "You and Spencer have quite the... unfinished story, don’t you?"
Isabella pressed her fingertips to her temple and gave a faint sigh.
"You had better not waste my time with old gossip. Say something new, or I will have to ask you to leave."
She was already regretting conducting a meeting with Ryan.
Ryan chuckled under his breath as if he had expected her impatience.
"I have come up with a way to make Spencer surrender to your will."
Those words caught Isabella’s attention.
Her eyes, which had been cool and distant, now brightened slightly.
She masked her curiosity by feigning calm.
The truth was, even if she denied it outwardly, she had a tiny crush on Spencer.
The cold, composed man had captured a corner of her heart when they were younger.
When she entered into a contract relationship with him, she had been confident that his heart would eventually be hers.
Instead, she had been the one to fall while he had remained distant and had walked away without a second thought.
That scar on her pride had never healed, and part of her longed for him, but her pride forced her to never beg and hence she let him go.
With Aurora in the picture, Isabella’s hopes had dimmed even further.
She doubted she could ever win Spencer’s heart while Aurora stood by his side.
Yet now Ryan’s words ignited the dwindling hope.
Ryan, noticing the subtle change in her expression, gave a knowing smile.
"You do not have to worry about Aurora," he said lightly. "She and my brother broke up two months ago."
Isabella’s eyes widened. For a moment, she forgot all about her elegance, her jaw wide open.
"Is that true? My sources have not reported anything about it."
Though she said so, she secretly hoped that the news was true.
Ryan’s smile turned sly.
"If you truly cared for him as you claim, you would have known. The fact that you are unaware proves that you have been... distracted."
Isabella’s eyes grew cold, her expression turned grim, and she warned him,
"Enough of your games. Get to the point. I do not need your lectures about my feelings. And perhaps I need to clean up my intelligence team if they have missed something so important."
Ryan raised his hands in a small gesture of surrender, deciding not to provoke her further.
’If I tease further, she might will tear me apart!’
