Chapter 564: Chapter 48: Krimasha Relics (9)_2
"Shit!" Jones cursed in frustration, continuing to run for his life.
Chasing him were not just light chains, but now a bunch of dark chains as well. Oddly enough, the magic power splashed out by the light chains harmed Jones, while the magic power from the dark chains actually healed his wounds. Was this really a chase?
If it weren’t for the light chains still chasing him, Jones might have considered surrendering to the dark chains.
Alright, in a frantic dash, Jones quickly activated the third Tomb Guardian.
"Help me—!"
This time, the Tomb Guardian was completely different from the previous ones, it was a ball of fire. And it had no eyes, it was a half-floating figure with only the upper body, wearing rock armor embedded with lava. It moved quickly, striking at Jones.
"My God!"
The fourth Tomb Guardian activated, this time it was an ice type. It looked like a monster carved from ice. As it raised its hand, a gust of wind filled with ice needles roared towards Jones. In a panic, Jones quickly used his wings to shield himself. The ice needles were blocked, but one wing was completely frozen. With one wing gone, it meant he was doomed.
Jones hurriedly flipped, diving headfirst into the fiery figure. Or rather, he passed right through the fire figure. The wing defrosted, but now his whole body was smoking. Jones felt like he was going to be scorched.
Dragging a long trail of smoke, he frantically escaped upwards through a small, tunnel-like exhaust pipe.
This escape nearly saved him.
Why nearly? Because the tunnel was small, and with light, dark, fire, and ice chasing him, they got squeezed together. The result was inevitable.
But why "nearly"? Because when Jones burst out of the tunnel, he was met by two more Tomb Guardians. One was the Eye Demon he had encountered before, the other appeared to be a giant Slime, oozing green bubbles all over.
In that instant, Jones’s face turned as green as the bubbles.
...
"Activate all the Tomb Guardians simultaneously?"
"Activate all the Tomb Guardians simultaneously?"
"Activate all the Tomb Guardians simultaneously?"
A female voice repeatedly asked the same question.
The blue mist named Eugene floated quietly, watching the projection before him. In the projection, a small bat was frantically fleeing, pursued closely by several Tomb Guardians.
All around, countless other projections showed different forms of Tomb Guardians scattered throughout the ruins, in a dormant state.
"Confirmed the identity?" Eugene asked softly.
"Confirmed the identity of the Blood Clan boy, just recently confirmed." The female voice responded, "Jones Dracula, assessed as a junior Blood Clan member, neutral but leaning towards our side. Adopted son of the deceased Lich King Gray Gruggle. Brother of the current Lich King Richie Gruggle. Dossier creator Ansel Lefebvre. Updated six months ago by the Collector Spirit. He is now the Lord of Giant Snake City, supported by a quarter of the Liches in the White Bone Holy Light Court. Defeated the Blood Clan Elders at the Battle of Yadesi River."
"What would be the impact on us and the continent’s situation if he perished here?"
"If he dies here, the outside Liches would undoubtedly carry out large-scale excavations immediately. Giant Snake City would get a new Lord, possibly a Lich. It could also be a Blood Clan member. For now, our information is very lacking, so we can’t judge."
Eugene remained silent, watching Jones’s continuous fleeing.
...
At that moment, a voice echoed in Jones’s mind.
"Jones, it’s me!"
"Aunt Lucy! You’re alright?"
"Of course, how could I be hurt so easily? Lich bones are merely a medium. Destroying the bones doesn’t result in death. Clearly, that Tomb Guardian hasn’t mastered the ability to destroy souls yet."
"You knew it was a Tomb Guardian?"
Flying swiftly, Jones turned his face sharply and saw Dora, transformed into a bat, struggling to fly alone while carrying Andrew and Turuk across an abyss. Occasionally, she landed to let them run a bit. Next to her was Lucy’s spirit.
...
"Wake Ansel," Eugene said softly after a moment of silence, "Let the Tomb Guardian decide."
"Understood." The female voice answered.
Ansel, known to Jones as Adolf, Adolf Capadocia.
...
As if pulled by something, the sleeping Ansel slowly floated out of the Blood Crystal, inch by inch, until he was completely out. His body was placed on a flat surface formed by sand in front of the Blood Crystal.
He slowly opened his eyes and saw Eugene’s face, glowing with blue fluorescence.
...
"You need to drop some of that stuff! It’s too heavy! I can’t carry you anymore!" Dora yelled frantically, flapping her wings.
"No way! This stuff is more important than my life!" Andrew shouted back.
"Fine, then we’ll drop you!"
Saying that, Dora let go of Andrew’s foot, scaring him into reaching out to grab Dora. But he missed, and instead, Jones grabbed him from behind.
"Thank you! Thank you, Jones!"
"Don’t thank me. I’m saving you because you’re no longer a threat. Besides, all this stuff we’re carrying out belongs to me," Jones responded coldly.
Of course, with Lucy here, what danger could Andrew pose? Unless he wanted to die.
A large group of Tomb Guardians was still chasing behind.
Ahead, a fork in the path appeared.
A voice echoed in Jones’s mind again, "Left."
"This way!" Almost without thinking, Jones led the group to the left.
Another voice followed, "At the end of this hall, there will be stairs. Go up."
"Who are you?" Jones hurriedly asked.
"Doesn’t matter who I am. I’m saving you," the voice replied.
"But I recognize your voice. You are... Adolf? Why are you here? You still remember the way?"
The voice fell silent. After a while, until Jones had actually reached the end of the hall and started going up, it said softly, "Yes, Jones, it’s me."
"So... Your name is actually Ansel, right? Ansel Lefebvre, right? You’re the first Krimasha Remnant to undergo the experiment? I’m just guessing the name, but other than being a Krimasha Remnant, I can’t think of any other explanation. I looked into you. Your Capadocia identity was personally determined by the Great Elder. He’s also a Krimasha Remnant! You also said that your secret could put many people in danger!"
After a while, Ansel spoke softly, "You know more than I thought, can you tell me how you plan to deal with this secret? I mean, Gods and demons and us, which side are you on? Or do you just want to stay neutral?"
"I don’t know, I just found out about this secret, I can’t give you an answer!"
"You’re crazy! Tell him you’re on his side!" Andrew, who Jones was holding, screamed.
"No, I don’t want to lie to him!"
"You don’t want to lie to him, but do you want to die?"
"I don’t want that either!"
"Then you..."
Before Andrew could finish, Ansel’s voice interrupted again, this time in everyone’s mind, including Lucy’s, "Jones, you are always so sincere, it makes me very happy. I can indeed save you, but Jones, you all, please note, I said you all, can you promise me one thing? Once you get out, forget everything about this place, forget this relic. Can you? Yes, this is a threat. If you don’t agree, I won’t save you. But I hope you can understand. If you knew what happened here ten thousand years ago, you would know what I’m carrying... Can you promise me?"
