Chapter 793: Chapter 793: Everyone Likes Me, Why Don’t You?

He Yirong felt a stir in his heart, yet his face betrayed no emotion.

He didn’t speak, but he was silently praying the child would come to him.

Xiaobao really did come over hesitantly, his face filled with curiosity.

"Grandpa, are you really my grandpa?" Xiaobao asked.

He Yirong opened his mouth, but didn’t know what to say.

He wanted to be close to the child, but deep down, he felt a twinge of discomfort.

Xiaobao had already walked up to him, and without any hesitation, hugged his knees, looking up at him, "Grandpa, do you not like me?"

He Yirong looked down at Xiaobao’s lovely little face, his heart softened, and he squeezed out two words from his throat, "No."

"But you never smile at me." Xiaobao’s small mouth pouted, "Granddad likes me, Granny also likes me, Aunt also likes me, Uncle also likes me."

As he spoke, he looked at He Yirong with eager eyes, implying everyone likes me, so why don’t you?

He Yirong found himself feeling a sense of urgency from the child’s words.

What if at the end of the day, he, the grandfather, ranked the lowest in the little guy’s heart?

In the room, He Jingyao had calmed down.

He bent down and gently kissed Zhixi’s forehead, "Will you come back to Yanzhou City with me?"

Zhixi smiled and nodded her head.

The two of them returned to the living room, only to find that Xiaobao was snuggled up in front of He Yirong, and whatever Xiaobao had said, He Yirong couldn’t hold back and was smiling warmly and affectionately.

But as soon as he saw He Jingyao and Zhixi come out, he quickly withdrew his smile and resumed his stern expression.

"Uh... I heard from this child that you haven’t given him a formal name yet." He Yirong looked sternly at He Jingyao, "What’s going on with you?"

He Jingyao smiled, "After all, you are the child’s grandfather. I originally wanted to ask you to give the child a formal name, but since you don’t believe that Xiaobao is your grandson, then let it be."

He Yirong’s face darkened, "How can we just let it be? When did I say that I didn’t believe?"

"Any woman bearing a child claims it’s mine, and you eagerly believe it, but you’re lukewarm towards Xiaobao." He Jingyao’s tone was lightly mocking, "Rest assured, since you’re unwilling to acknowledge the child, I won’t force you."

After speaking, he turned his attention to his son, "Xiaobao, come here."

Xiaobao obediently "oh"ed and turned to fling himself into the arms of He Jingyao and Zhixi.

He Yirong watched Xiaobao’s retreating back, opened his mouth several times, but ultimately couldn’t swallow his pride, and just had to ask coldly, "What are your plans?"

"I’m going to return to Yanzhou City with you right now." He Jingyao’s tone was indifferent, "Are you satisfied now?"

He Yirong snorted and said nothing.

...

That afternoon, the group boarded a plane heading back to Yanzhou City.

Worried about the safety of Ziyi and Xiaobao if they stayed in Lugang, He Jingyao took both of them along, and of course, Li Bo followed too.

Since it was a private flight, there were only a few of them on the entire plane. He Yirong sat in front with a stern face, evidently sulking over something.

He Jingyao raised his eyebrows, taking Zhixi and Xiaobao to the back seats. Ziyi didn’t want to crowd around He Yirong either, so he sat next to Xiaobao.

After the plane leveled off, Xiaobao became restless, chatting away happily, sometimes nestling in He Jingyao’s embrace, sometimes going to tease Ziyi, and sometimes asking Zhixi to hold him.

Up front, He Yirong hearing Xiaobao’s soft and sweet voice, couldn’t help but feel a tinge of desolation in his heart.
