Capítulo 820: Chapter 820: So You Think I’m Old?
Not long after, Zhixi turned back with a paper bag in her hands. She handed the bag to him, “Fresh from the oven, still warm. You’d better go back and eat it.”
“Thank you.” The young man was a little embarrassed, “Um, my last name is Zhou…”
“Xiaozhou.” Upon hearing this surname, Zhixi immediately felt a sense of closeness because her adoptive mother’s surname was also Zhou, “If you ever want breakfast, just come over and knock, no need to be polite.”
“Thank you, I don’t really have anything to repay you…” The young man was a bit uneasy, “Oh, I’m really good at gaming…”
After saying that, he seemed to realize that his strength wasn’t very impressive and immediately felt regretful.
“You’re so amazing! You must be a pro in the gaming world then!” Zhixi exclaimed.
“Uh… Sort of.” The young man was even more embarrassed by her praise, “If you ever need help in that area, I’m here.”
“Sure.” Zhixi knew that the young man just wanted to express his gratitude, so she agreed with a bright smile. Of course, she didn’t really play games, so she wouldn’t need such help.
The young man nodded awkwardly and turned back to his own house.
Zhixi closed the door, feeling a sense of satisfaction from making a neighbor friend.
He Jingyao happened to come out of the room and saw her happy smile, raising an eyebrow, “What’s up?”
“The guy from across the hall thought my pancakes smelled so good that he couldn’t help knocking to ask for some.” Zhixi said gleefully, walking over and hugging his arm, “Jingyao, do you want to try?”
She knew this man’s stomach was extremely picky and he was used to eating only Western food.
“The guy?” He Jingyao raised an eyebrow, “A male?”
“A young guy, probably not even twenty.” Zhixi emphasized.
The implication being, don’t be jealous of a kid…
He Jingyao’s gaze darkened, and he reached out to stroke her chin, his voice unreadable, “So you think I’m old.”
Zhixi was dumbfounded, “How could that be? That’s not what I meant!”
This man wasn’t even thirty yet, at his most charming age, definitely not anywhere near “old”!
However, He Jingyao gave her a meaningful look then turned to walk towards the dining table.
Zhixi reflected on his look and hurriedly caught up, “Jingyao, I meant that those kind of young guys don’t even register as the opposite sex to me. I wasn’t saying you’re old… If we’re talking age, I’m already twenty-five… I’m the one who’s old!”
Zhixi was somewhat angrily saying, “Online they keep saying women start going downhill after twenty-five! It’s so annoying!”
He Jingyao couldn’t help but chuckle at her indignation.
He bent down and gave her a light peck on the lips, “The internet is full of nonsense. Come on, let me taste your cooking.”
Zhixi was comforted by his words, feeling better, and she hugged his arm with a smile, “You really want to try it? You won’t find it a torture to your stomach?”
He glanced down at her, pinched her cheek, “Listen, anything you make with your own hands is not allowed to be given to any other man, no matter how young!”
Zhixi quickly nodded.
Only then was the man satisfied.
However, the next day, He Jingyao found that their son was holding a uniquely styled toy, clinging to it tightly.
He raised an eyebrow and asked Zhixi, “Where did Xiaobao’s toy come from?”
“Xiaozhou from next door brought it over,” Zhixi chuckled, “He said it’s a thank you gift. I didn’t expect Xiaobao to like it so much.”
